In this world, two normal human beings can sometimes have a child that is a... half-breed. Partially human, partially animal. No one knows how it happens, or why, but these half-breeds are considered the lowest of society. It isn't unheard of for a baby half-breed to be abandoned, or for a half-breed child of an otherwise human family to be treated as little more than a servant.
Even a king and queen arent immune to the possibility of a half-breed child being born to them. Such an occurrence would be absolutely scandalous, and would bring great shame to the kingdom...
So of course the king and queen would hide such a child from the world, tucked in a corner of their palace where it can be safely ignored, never showing its face to the public.
Never mind what the child thinks.
