Tell me about your favourite (non-OC) ladies from any sort of media!

I have way too many favourites, so I'll start with Vicar Amelia from Bloodborne.

She's not a major character narrative-wise, but she's an excellent monster! And not the most punishing as far as Soulsborne bosses go. The whole concept of cleric beasts was interesting. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower and the Dancer of the Boreal Valley (DS3) are also great.
Guingamor

I have a lot of favourites, too, although most of them are from the same things.

I'd probably start with Atris, from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords. (There's a lot more from that game, and it's predecessor that I love, too, but.)

She's an antagonist, and has a complicated and kind of tragic relationship (or ex-relationship, I guess) with the main character, The Exile. I just really appreciate that she's bitter, and proud, and hurt, and that she's angry at The Exile.

Might sound weird, but mostly I just like her as an antagonist, and how her first 'boss fight' is with words, about history, about the things The Exile did wrong in the past and her perhaps disproportionate reaction to the things they did. Well, sort of. I also appreciate the Jedi and Sith stuff that goes into her, ha.

I could probably make novels about the fictional ladies I love and why, but this is already a long post so I'll stop here, :P
Senua from 'Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice' made it to the top of my list of favourite female characters in less than a few minutes of starting the game. Ninja Theory did such an amazing job portraying her character and her mental illnesses in a very realistic way.
DewsALot

I love Midna from Zelda Twilight Princess one of my favorites. :3
I know I'm probably forgetting one, but with most certainty, my favorite female characters would be Integra Hellsing, Daisy Fitzroy, and Haruhi Fujioka.

Daisy is definetively my favorite character of the Bioshock series along Brigid Tenenbaum, but I choose Daisy bc i felt that two characters from the same series would be too much lol. I love the way she is potrayed: She IS a revolutionary leader for the rights of the little guy, fighting a bigot and evil regime, yet she isn't perfect. She makes mistakes, she makes bad decisions, she even goes from being an ally to being an enemy; She IS a person. Daisy is not wrote as a perfect image to stroke the creator's ego about political correctness: She feels organic, with booth virtues and failures that make her an awesome character, even though the game's pacing does desvirtuate this a little. That's pretty much the same reason I love Tenembaum too: A cientific working in an unethical experiment for unethical patrons, who eventually recognizes her mistaeks and tries to mend her wrongs. This might be the invese secuence to Daisy's, but the idea is the same: A Flawed person with sins over her back, she with her own virtues, and her own motivations that make her a person, rather than a figure.

Integra is the one that I had forgot i liked for a long time, but since recently I read the manga, She's back at my faves <3 What can I say? I've always loved her concept: The Leader of the Royal Order of Protestant Knights, who smokes cigars, wears suits, terrifies people, and is recknown as a Sir. Gotta love her, dude.

Then, there it's Haruhi. She seems like an odd choice compared to the other two, but she's definetively my firmiest choice in this. The reason is a bit cheesy...Growing up, I got into anime when I was also in a pretty complex phase regarding my gender. I have never been a girly girl, and as I entered highschool I felt preassure to: Either I "became a guy", or I became more girly and therefore "normal". It sounds pretty lame when I say it this way, but seeing her as a character who was not girly at all, yet no one invalidated her as a girl, gave me a lot of confidence. I am myself, and my gender shouldn't be what defines my identity. Of course Haruhi wasn't my only influence, there where many other. But I'm glad i didn't gave up to any side, and not recognizing her would't feel ok.

...That got kind of preachy there :'D So have a free Lady Killer image (who is also an awesome female character and i forgot to write about here)

Daisy is excellent! Rosalind Lutece as well (dubious morals, but a well-written character, lmao). Along the Unreal Engine vein, I also like Emily Kaldwin and Billie Lurk from Dishonored.

Some others:
- Susan Ashworth from The Cat Lady
- Lisbeth Salander from the Millennium Trilogy
- Aunt Pol and Grace from Peaky Blinders
- every lady from TAZ
- Sun Bak from Sense8
- Clementine from TWD
- Amanda, Farah, and Bart from Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
- Apsalar from the Malazan Book of the Fallen series
- Balalaika from Black Lagoon
- Scully from X-Files
- the Grave Robber and the Plague Doctor from Darkest Dungeon (I love their dialogue and their designs even though it's a turn-based RPG idk)
- Furiosa from MMFR
- California Mountain Snake and Gogo from Kill Bill

and a bunch more. there's so many.

Favorite female characters? Well, time to toss my own hat in and say who I like...

To start off, I adore Rin Tohsaka from Fate Stay Night. We all know the tsundere archetype by now, but she's one of the very few tsundere girls played so realistically that I would feel no shame in understanding and relating to where she's coming from. Her reasons for being so stand-offish at first is actually well-justified in the series, and her whole personality inside and outside of that harsh shell is just a breath of fresh air compared to the (almost) always angry and graceless tsunderes of more modern anime.

Another female I love is Aerith from Final Fantasy 7. She's so cute and gentle, yet is secretly sneaky and knowledgeable when you least (or most) expect it. Yes, we all know by now that she's dead, but she will always hold a special place in my heart. Anyone who can make a man like Cloud dress in drag gets four stars in my book.

However, she's also tied with Tifa from the same game. I just... She's so motherly and caring outside that rough and tumble appearance. It kinda reminds me a bit of my own character, but Tifa's a lot more demure than her... Which is a good thing. I also love her dedication to Cloud even after all of the crap he's gone through. If you told me to choose between her and Aerith on best Final Fantasy 7 girl, I would have to say that I can't decide... They're both special and flawed in their own way, and that's why I can't pick between the two. And if you asked me, Cloud should've just taken the both of them while Aerith was still alive instead of having to choose. It's not like they had some sort of actual rivalry canonically, they seemed like very good friends.

Rose from Doctor Who is another deep favorite of mine. She instantly won my heart and kept me hooked onto the series as soon as I watched the first few episodes. I adore her determination outright, and she complimented the Doctor so well! All of the companions The Doctor has had throughout the modern series were amazing from what I've watched so far, but Rose was the one who was the most fascinating and endearing to me. Doesn't help that I used to identify with her stubborn determination... And still do.

Yuna from Final Fantasy 10 also gets a mention in my book! And Aqua and Kairi from Kingdom Hearts. And Namine: she was so cute, and I love the fact that she's also an artist. May, Kris, and Lyra from Pokémon are also my faves, and... You know what, let me stop right there before I go overboard. I love female characters, and wish they'd get more overall love from the fans. <3
