Greetings to everyone!
First off, I wanted to congratulate the admins for this wonderfully well presented and easy to use site.
I am what some may refer to as an oldschool FFRPer I mostly played for some years on IRC-based rooms, so it means live streaming posts, most of them being in the midst of action and generally short. This was however paired up with forums as well, for OOC stuff and offline longer play parallel to the chat one.
We were a small group who enjoyed adult realistic medieval free-form RPs: imagine, for example, a RP loosely based on the Vikings series or something similar. I used to play a character in a place named Barbaric Castle, which was owned and run by a 4th century barbarian King named Tusk.
I would like to use RP as a tool to develop my character further and, as such, can eithe start something (see my post the adult RP seeking forum) or adapt him to an idea of yours, which can be historical, or even modern day. The farthest I will go with fantasy is Harry Potter. I can play Edgar from childhood to adulthood (childhood related matters won't involve anything improper).
Edgar and his backstory is based on a novel in progress.

I think that you've come to the right place to develop your character. A tip for it though is to make sure that it fits the theme that your character would be in. Though it seems that you know to do that already.

Hello! Your described way of roleplaying sounds like a ton of fun!! I grew up on fast paced rps, usually kept short and concise to help the plot move along. I like these meatier roleplays of modern times, (plus, when you have a busy schedule, it can be a lot better!) but that still doesn't mean i miss the nostlagia of a constant back and forth!

I sincerely hope to be able to indulge in the addiction of RP with a passion like I used to... it's been some years and whatever I have attempted these last few years has fallen flat for one reason or another (mostly, because things never really had a chace to take off for lack of members). It saddens me even more thinking of all the potential that is there awaiting, and nothing happens. We used to RP entire mind-blowing stories on a cheap little chat applet. Reminds me of the people of the 60's who were glued to their one-station, tiny black and white TV screens, compared to us falling asleep with the remote in hand in front of our home movie sets with surround sound systems and 200 stations.
Anyway, forgive my rant.
What I'd really like people to know (if they haven't) is how stimulating such a collective creative energy could be. Now, I must admit that I am not like many who will play multiple characters in several RPs at a time. I prefer to involve and fully focus in one. This is the reason why I am presently conflicted in what path I should take, medieval or Harry Potter. Am I mistaken in assuming that the HP one might be more appealing to the majority here, since it is familiar?
