"You have a master?" The question was not idle, nor was the faint tone of wariness. His only encounter with masters had been in dealing with vampires. Although given the priest's current position, he doubted the connection with a vampire.
He stepped down from the dais and drew the long black coil of braided hair over his shoulder. The frayed tip fell past his hip; now that he was human, he wanted to cut it off and pretend that the vampire thing had never happened.

"My master is the person who taught me how to control my magic and made me a priest." Rune looked at Kai.
Kai's lip almost curled back in disgust, but he shook off the lingering dislike of priests. After all, if it hadn't been for this one, he wouldn't be back to normal. And in fact, when he was normal, he had no problem with them; he just kept forgetting he was...normal. For now anyway.
"Would this master of yours be able to make the spell permanent?" Kai asked instead.

"Oh, I see." Kai fell silent. If he'd been a vampire, he probably could have found the man in the forest, but he wasn't. And he rather suspected if the man was living in seclusion by himself, he didn't want company anyway--let alone a vampire.
"I guess, if you have no use for me, I'll be going." He didn't know where he'd go, but he would need food and money--especially money.

Kai paused and turned to look back at Rune. The priest. He hesitated. He didn't have anywhere to go, and if Rune did figure out the spell it would give him a second chance at humanity.
And if he didn't? a sadistic voice whispered in the back of his mind. Well, who better to destroy a vampire than a priest. At least it would be over quickly; he was fairly certain of that.
"I don't want to intrude, but...perhaps I can offer my assistance. Errands, if nothing more," he added.
