Thanks! After browsing around here for a bit, I kinda get the gist of what's happening.
You're always welcome to ask other members for help, the community is always nice 
and the help section has a ton of info that can help you. Other than that, just jump in, you'll be fine

Hello!! As the others have said, don't be afraid to ask questions! RPR is very welcoming and helpful for new people. From what I've gathered so far there's a lot of ways to jump in:
Don't sweat it if someone's not up for RP, you'll be sure to find someone who's glad to RP with you. Also, FWIW, I think you're alright at introductions. I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with information overload, ha. Welcome to RPR!
- You can make a character profile and then reply to a thread in the Looking For RP forum if one has caught your interest, OR you can make your own if you have an idea you want to try out.
- You can reply to a thread/make a thread in the Looking For RP forum and then make a character profile.
- You can find a thread with (Open) in the title in the General Roleplay, Fantasy Roleplay, or Sci-fi Roleplay forums that catches your interest, and message the maker of the thread to see if you could join.
- You might find a thread with (Open) in the title in the RP Discussion forum that catches your interest, and you could do the same thing there (messaging the maker of the thread).
- You could message someone and ask if they're open to RP with you/one of your characters, and they might make a thread or you could RP through messages (or they might not want to RP, which is cool too).
- There are probably other ways but I don't actually know of them, ha.
