Alone.
All Keera now knew was being alone. And she hated it.
Every sound made the young fox jump, every rustling of the branches in the trees making her think someone was following her, and every crack of a branch beneath her own paws making her think that sweet, insane Doc, her master, the only who had cared for her, was back from the dead and had come to get her.
But he wasn't. Doc was dead and now there was nothing she could do about it. Keera had no idea how to live alone, much less in a forest. She had never been taught to scavenge or how to hunt for that matter. She knew nothing but the warmth of Doc's arms and the feel of his hands scratching her ears.
Keera let out a few small cries, trying to get the attention of someone, anyone. Now though, she curled up in a ball. Alone.
So very alone.

Aylla, who was sitting in a tree, curiously watched the fox.
She seems lonely... she thought. Should I...
The little girl quickly made her decision and opened her wings, gliding slowly to the ground, landing softly a few meters from the curled up fox. She folded her wings and took a few steps towards the fox, then stood still.
"Hello?" she hesitantly asked.

Keera let out a startled yelp and leaped to her feet, only fear in her eyes and she scrambled away, moving backwards until her rear pressed up against a tree and she let out another cry as she came in contact with it, thinking someone else was behind her.
After realizing it was only a tree, she turned to face the girl again, whining quietly and crouched low.

The little girl approached the fox slowly.
"It's okay, I won't harm you" Aylla smiled at her.
"who are you? why are you here by yourself?" She crouched down next to the distressed fox and softly tried petting her.

Keera, unable to truelly understand human speech beyond that of a dog (and a not very intelligent one at that), cringed away at the girls touch, covering her face with her paws and still only growling timidly.
"You don't seem to be able to communicate with me like this..." Aylla thught for a moment untill she had an idea.
She closed her eyes and opened her mind to the fox. What about this? do you understand me now? She was mindspeaking, an ability owned by most creatures. She wasn't sure wether the fox knew of it however, but it was worth the try.

She heard her but still didn't understand her, or even what was happening. She was only a pup after all and the voice in her mind scared her. Keera let out a short cry, her whole body shivering in fear now.
"hmm... this doesn't work either..."
She thought hard about how she could communicate with the young fox. Then suddenly her face lit up as she had another idea. She opened her mind to the fox again and started showing the little creature pictures and feelings of love, friendship and compassion. while doing this, she never stopped smiling, hoping this would convince the fox that she was on her side.

Seeing this did calm Keera down and she slowly stopped crying and uncovered her face, now looking up at Aylla with only sadness and loneliness in her eyes and now she went to her, cuddling against her leg, longing for the feeling of a kind touch again.
Allya smiled broadly as the fox cuddled up against her - happy that she had convinced her of Allya's gentle nature. She crouched down again and picked the young fox up from the grassy ground, putting the little creature in her lap to cuddle her tightly. Allya buried her head into the fox's fur and closed her eyes, sending her more soothing images through her brain.
Keera gave a happy growl and cuddled closely to Aylla's chest, her body warm. She whimpered a bit as she remembered how Doc held her and cuddled closer to Aylla.
Aylla stood up while she was holding the fox and took her to hher favorite spot in the forest, a grassy steep hill to the side of a mountain where she could easily overlook her surroundings. She would have flown there in other circumstances, but she figured the little fox would just get scared again, so she walked.
When They arrived, Aylla tried asking the fox by images and feelings how she ended up here alone, for the young flit couldn't imagine such a young creature wandering about on her own.

Keera could vaguely understand what was being asked of her an she tried her best to conjure up the last time she had seen Doc: dead in the wreckage of a crashed airship. The man wore a long, black trench coat and a white gas mask resembling that of a plague doctor from the Renaissance era. The lenses of the mask were red and cracked in the image, one of the lenses actually missing, revealing the open, bright green eye of the clinically insane man. His many ammo cartridges lay scattered about and there was a metal rod protruding from his back.
Then, in her vision, Doc's mask fell off, revealing the horribly deformed thing that was his face. The remains of the mans skin was a nasty pale. His cheeks were missing other than a few tendons and if one looked at him from the side with his mouth open, they could see straight through his mouth. His nose was nothing but decayed cartilage and his forehead showed bone in some places. His eyed were sunken deep into his skull and were a bright, vivid green which made him look deceivingly sane.
Keera let out a long, sad cry as the vision ended, wishing her caretaker was back and that she was in his arms.

Aylla was shocked at what she saw, but this man obviously meant a lot to the little fox. She cuddled her close again and kissed the top of her head. She then sent her images of sleep and rest, trying to make the little creature sleep for a while. Night was falling, and aylla had an idea to communicate with the fox on the next day - but she kept that info for herself for the time being.
Keera's eyes began to droop and she whimpered a few times in protest to her own slumber and at the fact that this girl was a stranger. Her arms were so warm though, so very warm. Keera quickly fell asleep.
Aylla then softly put the fox down on the ground and stepped away from here only by 1 meter. she sat down and closed her eyes. She meditated, and focused her mind onto the fox. It was an ancient ritual used by most flit to learn to analize an animal's language. However it wasn't allways easy getting the specific creature to sleep. She spent the whole night meditating, untill her sleep caught up with her at the first hint of dawn. She lied down into the grass next to the sleeping fox, happy that she had completed her task.
When Aylla woke up, she would feel a small tongue dragging up over her cheek. Keera was licking her face, her tail wagging softly.
''Why hello there little one!" She was speaking in the language of the fox.
This scared Keera, but not so much that she ran, she only jumped, "H-hello," she stopped licking Aylla and crouched down on her chest.
"don't be scared, there's no need to be." Aylla smiled.
