"Ok..." Keera was still a bit nervous but rubbed her head under the girls chin, grateful just for a friendly touch.
"Who are you?" aylla softly petted the fox.
"My master called me Keera," the young fox said quietly, savoring the feeling of being pet again.
"Then that is what I will call you!" Aylla smiled "So the man You showed me was your master?" she asked.
"Yep... Other humans called him Doc I think. He often called himself insane although I don't know what that means... I just know that he liked blood and thy he cared about me... He always told
Me that I was the one thing holding him to the world. I don't know what he means by that either though."

Aylla smiled. " it means that he really cares about you!"
"Cared," she sadly corrected and then looked up at Aylla, "Who and what are you?"
"I'm Aylla, one of the last remaining flit." Aylla's kind had been nearly eradicated by a dragon just a few years back. "I'm a creature bound by nature and magic, which is why I was able to learn your language over such a short time span."
"Alright..." Keera didn't understand much of that, but she just nodded, "Well... Why are you out here?"
Aylla shrugged. "Just travelling. I promised myself to prevent everyone from undergoing the same fate as the flit, so I just go around and help whenever I can."
"Oh. Well, can I come with you?" she asked hopefully, "I-I don't know how to live out here. I don't like being out here... It's so scary and I don't like being alone."
"Sure you can! I'd be glad for the company!" Aylla laughed.
"Thank you!!!" Keera said excitedly and licked Aylla's face.
Aylla fell back laughingly, not having expected the fox to be so enthousiastic about it.
Keera laughed too and rubbed her head beneath Aylla's chin, "Well, where are-" Keera was cut off by a loud, gutteral roar and she gave a scared cry.
Aylla heard it too. She quickly got up, picked up keera, and a few wingbeats later they were hidden amongst the leaves of a great oak tree.
on the outside, she was acting cool and controlled so as to encourage Keera. but on the inside, she felt like a little scared nestling - the roar reminded her of the dragon that had almost eradicated her kind.

The roar sounded again, shaking the tree. The sound of heavy foot steps could now be heard and the roar came a third time. The foot steps kept on getting closer and now it looked like one of the trees was actually moving.
Keera half expected to hear Doc's heavy German accent, yelling something rather insane and then firing at whatever it was, but there were no gunshots or angry yells, only the approaching foot steps.

Aylla didn't know what to think. A walking tree? She petted Keera and waited to see what would happen
The stomping got louder and it soon became clear: ents. The massive tree people were walking around the forest and each stomp made Keera whimper.
Aylla had never seen an ent before, so she couldn't tell wether or not they were good or evil. Because of her strong ties to nature however, she was tempted to believe they were good-willed, but her carefulness won the struggle inside her.
"Are they to be trusted?" she whispered to Keera.
