Liam peered through the binoculars just as the figure straightened up. A woman for sure, and a very small one at that. Zombie or not remained to be seen. She did look oddly familiar to him though. Charcoal against the wall, he wrote "Girl.." He handed the binoculars back to the man beside him.

Wildner put the binoculars away again and positioned his Sniper rifle on the balcony's edge, maintaining a clear line of sight over the whole street.
"Go get her, I'll keep you covered."

Liam nodded, and slipped out the front door, approaching the girl cautiously, still not entirely convinced she wasn't a zombie, it seemed unlikely he'd run into two survivors in one day. Chain in hand, he got as close as a few feet. She hadn't noticed him yet. Skin was healthy looking, not the sickly grey of the undead. He put the chain away and reached out to touch her shoulder, grab her attention. When he did, she turned in surprise, her frightened eyes darting to his face.

Fin jumped with surprise when a hand landed heavily on her shoulder, she turned around, her heart hammering. To her momentary relief, the hand belonged to a live person. It was when she looked closely at the man that the uneasiness came back to her. The familiar shaggy black hair, big brown eyes. She knew this man. He'd been a regular in these parts. Not exactly one of her tormentors, but he'd never bothered to stop anyone either. She took a few hesitant steps back from him.

Wildner saw more movement at the end of the street. definately zombies, according to the way they walked. The dead hadn't spotted Liam or the girl yet - and Wildner started wondering wether the creatures could see at all. maybe they reacted purely to sound? They'll have to find out somehow. He threw a small rock to Liam once again to pull his attention, then pointed at the few zombies.

Liam looked back at the man by the motel room, having heard the rock drop beside him. His sight darted to where he was motioning. Zombies, several of them. Great, the girl had brought the hoard right to them. Liam gripped the girls arm, gently, so as to not scare her. She seemed frightened of him, though he had no idea why, he was still trying to place her. He tugged her towards the Motel. They needed to get inside now, likely it was already too late. They'd most likely already been spotted.

Fin flinched at his touch, pulling her arm immediately out of his grasp. "Don't!" She yelled, having not noticed the Zombies quickly approaching. They heard her though. It was then, that the sound of shuffling footsteps caught her attention. She swore softly, and followed the man quickly back to the motel. She really didn't want to go back in there, but she also really didn't want to be consumed by the hoard. Her will to live overrode her fear of the man's unknown intent.

Wildner swore as he saw that the zombies had spotted them. All caution gone, He yelled: "Liam, get her the fuck inside and barricade the doors!" he then looked at the scared girl. "You better help him or you'll have goten us all killed for trying to save you!"
having said that, he turned his attention to the zombies and looked through his scope. He let his army training focus him and his heartbeat steadied. The zombies weren't exactly fast, but somehow he knew that once you got caught, there'd be no way out. He aimed at the closest one, and shot it through the head, the bullet penetrating it and blowing off the leg of the one behind his first victim, slowing him down. He quickly shifted his aim and finished it before taking a shot at the next one. Zombie after zombie fell in Wildners' desperate attempt to keep them away from the vulnerable duo downstairs and buying as much time as possible.

Liam pulled the girl roughly into the building, and slammed the door shut. This time, she let herself be pulled by him. They each took a side of the bed and slid it, with some difficulty in front of the door, Liam then pulled her to the empty hatch in the floor. Both slipped down through the entrance. Bingo, the wall looked as it did two years ago.

A small armory of guns and knives, at one time used to protect a precious stash of potent drugs. He grabbed a hunting rifle off the wall, and then hoisted himself back up into the motel room. He closed the hatch, making sure the girl couldn't take off, lest she draw more attention to them. He ran to the small window, and slid it open, sliding the tip of the gun out.

Taking a second to make sure it was loaded, he began picking off zombies as well.

Finlay now wished she'd been left to the zombies. She had never desired to be here again. She'd visited this hatch before. Being here again, was reliving an emotional trauma she would have rather forgotten about. She made herself small against the back wall. Questioning, for not the first time in her life, why she'd been left alive..

Wildner heard the shots, and saw the zombies fall - some faster than others - and figured Liam and the girl made it safely inside. he didn't look at them however, and kept his focus at the zombies. He picked off a couple more, shooting them cleanly through the head. To his relief, the number of zombies was rapidly decreasing. This wasn't a large group. As the last zombie made an effort to make it through the motel door, He shot it cleanly through the head as well. He motioned for Liam to stay quiet.

Liam lowered his weapon, letting silence permeate the air once again. He smiled at the irony of him being told to be quiet. His hands shook as he placed the gun on the bed.

Looking out the window, Liam could see the sun was beginning to rise. He began to be able to see the complete destruction. The immediate landscape was now littered with decaying corpses.

Wildner sighed in relief.
"It seems to be over for now. Where is the girl?"

Liam immediately ran to hatch, having forgot about the girl momentarily. He pulled it open. There she was, now in the light he could clearly see her. Strawberry blonde hair, slightly curly, wide green eyes. It was that look, in combination with their current setting that made him realize who she was. She'd been a few years younger the last time he'd seen her, but she still closely resembled the traumatized child she had been. She was the O'Brian child, the little girl they'd tested the drugs on. He swallowed. How the hell did she survive that, let alone the zombie invasion?

Wildner, not knowing who the girl was, noticed that Liam recognised her.
"Who is it?"

For several minutes Finlay was consumed by her own personal nightmare. Post traumatic flashes of being shot up with various, previously untested drugs. The supposedly responsible adults around her gleeful at the antics of the drug crazed child. Happy too, that their supply would be okay for public consumption.

Finlay was both relieved and terrified when the hatch was opened. Liam crouched at the entrance and looked into the room at her. She could tell he recognized her now. It was the look on his face she was surprised by. Regret? Guilt?

Liam looked back at the man. Tearing his eyes from the girl. Tearing the chalk out of his pocket he wrote quickly. "her name is Fin. She's probably not happy to see me."

"why not?" Wildner had no clue about the history of this motel.

"Some friends of mine, did some very bad things to her" He scribbled. He got up, not wanting to answer more questions, and made his way to the bed, sitting down, and resting his head in his hands. Years of being able to avoid his horrible past, and it all caught up with him now, during the fucking Zombie Apocalypse of all times.

He'd never felt much guilt about his involvement in what had gone on here, having been young himself at the time, he had been coerced into many of the things he'd done, to protect himself. Now, faced with Finlay, it was all he could feel.

Wildner saw that he wasn't going to get more information out of Liam, so he made his way to the hatch and pulled the wide-eyed girl out of it. it must be a weird experience for her to see someone from her past with a - judging by his guns - futuristic soldier.
"Who are you?"
