A young woman sat on a rickety stool next to rickety table in a rickety bar. At least, that's how she'd call it. It was dark and smelled like piss out of a chamber pot. Voices were muffled by the dull of harpsichord music and the singing of a maiden dressed in white. The air felt strange to her - such a humid feeling being bunched up with smelly, drunken men in one place.
Everyone was drunk or at least around it. She felt alienated as she was quite sober and wasn't in her mid-40's with a balding head and a sweaty beer-gut. The patron next to her fell over in a drunken stupor causing her to sigh deeply.
"This is not the kind of night I want," she whispered softly to herself staring into her whiskey.
It was the first night of her quest and she had just crossed into a nearby village for shelter. Hunger had overtaken her fatigued body after walking around aimlessly for 8 hours in the thick wood. When entering the town she immediately noticed a small bar with it's run-down sign and tacky building structure. So, as expected, she entered for some whiskey and any food they had. The food came out as some mushy spinach, but it was better than starving. Besides, the bar wench was nice to look at.
Blinking, the honey color of her whiskey did not block out her scaled face as she stared into it's surface. Pulling her hood up higher she wished she didn't look so different from everyone around her. If they even noticed that she wasn't human, they would most likely shun her away and attempt to kill her. It always ended up with that problem when she was a child.

Being only eighteen, yet a good warrior, Able was good at blending in and feeding himself when he needed too.
He had been eyeing a female ever since she came in here, rarely did his town get visitors, even more rare was them being females and not wanting to join the brothel or the army.
He would get up, moving beside her, and sitting back down.
"My name is Able," he spoke softly. He didn't want to scare her, but he was intrigued.
He wouldn't notice she wasn't human, for he was too busy being mad at his mother for his "curse" to really notice stuff like that.
"Are you new in town?"

"Are you new in town?"
Glancing towards her new neighbor, she stated simply, "Yalin. I'm just passing through. Not many villages in these parts, eh?"
Snapping her fingers, she caught the bar wench's attention and pointed to her empty cup. Looking back towards the boy she took in his appearance before subconsciously tilting her head, strands of her silver-white hair falling out of the hood.
He seemed quite young to be in a bar - at least in her opinion.

He seemed young, she seemed beautiful, least in his eyes.
He'd clear his throat before eyeing the bar keep.
"No. Most of them got burned down or faded to sand almost a hundred years ago," he responded softly.
"Do you believe in things like magic and curses?" He asked out of the blue.
"Barkeep. Put her on my tab. I've got nothing better to do,"
Able always bought drinks for the warriors and defenders of this city, it was bribery for them to keep him safe and away from "her" but it was worth it.

Yalin smirked, "Well, someone's trying to get on my good side."
She crossed her leg over the other and smiled at him under her hood. She loved it when men would do something nice for her. It made her feel confident and it was always easy to make them do whatever she wants after.
"Oh, and I believe I do know of magic, but curses, no, not quite familiar with them," She stated matter-of-factly.
Her drink was put in front of her and she thanked the woman.
Taking a sip she asked, "Why do you ask, by the way?"

"Other than being a walking curse, no reason," he responded bluntly.
"I'm not trying to get on any side of you,as much as I'd like too, I'm just simply showing a stranger that at least with me, she has nothing to fear!" He squeaked.
'What the hell Able?' he thought to himself.
"So..other than being in this run down yet somehow also fanciful establishment, and being a stranger, what brings you here? Looking for adventure?"

As he squeaked, she shook her head in amusement, giggling slightly. Although, when she heard his question, she looked downwards, thinking over her response. She couldn't exactly tell him that she was searching for the Dragon Jewels. He was a human. The same species that wishes her dead.
"Uh, I'm just on a journey. For my sister," she answered truthfully, "And what brings you here to this....establishment?" She smirked again, gesturing around her.

Jack stepped into a bar of a little human village he found. He sat down at the bar, and ordered a beer. He looked around at the patrons and the casual drunks. They were all so plain, so boring. He felt a rather strange energy radiating from somewhere close. He searched a few minutes, until he found it. He narrowed it down to two people. It was either a woman or the man sitting with her.
Jack was thinking of different ways to find out. Jack didn't know why he wanted to know, he was just driven towards it. It felt strangely draconic

"Could I help? I've been known to be an expert finder."
While she was being truthful, Able himself was always cautious, and he could assume she was hiding something.
"I mean, if you don't mind. Wouldn't want you to think I'm just trying to lay with you," he smirked.
The sexual intentions of men always confused him. Why must you have secondary motives, why not be honest?

Yalin giggled again before thinking over his offer. It was generous, but it's a big risk. However, it would be nice to perhaps have some help along the way. She couldn't always have her sister by her side to guide her.
"Hmm, well, I guess you could....but you would need to make a promise with me," she said seriously, "Never tell anyone of what I am doing."
She let her reptilian eyes cast a soft glow, it's golden color shining.

He noticed her eyes and then just gave her a nod.
"Never tell anyone what?" He played along with her, a grin creeping onto his face.
"I'll respect that, if you promise to do your best to make sure I don't die..." He stopped there. He didn't wanna go on right now, he didn't trust many people with his secret.

"Have you ever heard of the Aquarion Temple? It's about 70 miles west if my map is correct."
She pulled out a scroll and laid it down before them. Pointing to an oddly-shaped structure, she spoke, "There is said to be a special jewel hidden within the center of this monument. My sister sent me out to get it before it falls into the wrong hands."
Tapping the table, she looked up at him in his eyes. She hoped that her directions were correct along with the fact that he didn't really know of the jewel's origins. It would be real bad if he found she was a Dragonshifter, especially in a packed place like this.

Able, unlike most, wasn't judgemental or even someone who hates others for their uniqueness.
"Ah. And I have, but I thought it was just an adventurers tale. I didn't know it existed," he paused, looking around at the people and getting a little uneasy.
"We should probably discuss this elsewhere,"

"Indeed."
Getting up from her stool, she grabbed the map and packed in into her pouch. Looking around, she caught the eye of a strange being in the back of the room, but decided not to act. It would cause a great mess.
"Do you know any quiet places we could discuss this further?" She held out her gloved hand to him for help up.

He took her hand and pulled, helping her up.
"I have a hut close by we could talk there," he responded honestly. He didn't really care where they went, just as long as it was far away from here.

"Great," She nodded her head, beginning to walk out of the bar.
Looking back at him she pondered if she would tell him the whole truth. He seemed trustworthy enough and didn't seem very affected by her eyes.

He quickly placed some gold down for the barkeep before following the woman out of the bar.
"Mine is the only residence with a purple door." He retorted as he began to head east. His place was his home, strangers could use it and mother would never find him. Thank God, Mother would kill her and make him watch if she found out he was socializing with a woman.

"Ooh, a purple door. How manly!" She winked, walking alongside him.
The town was quite silent, the only noises in the air were of their footsteps and the low blowing of the cool, night air. The smell of a dying fire came someway off in the distance, reminding her of her sister's natural smell. Oh, she would give anything just to lay in her lap and listen to her read aloud. It didn't matter if it was a geology book or even the taxes of the people, she just wished to hear her sister's calming voice.

Jack saw the man walk out with the woman. Jack slid out the door a few moments after them. He cast an invisibility glamour on himself so they wouldn't see him. He cast a muffling spell so he wouldn't make any noise while moving. He kept his distance just in case they might've been able to hear through the muffling spell.
"Hey!" He fake whined. "It's my favourite colour," he grinned as he opened the door, this was a special door. Thank God for currently having little knowledge about magic except for some defensive spells. His door was the safest thing he owned.
"Ladies first," he spoke as he stepped aside.
'Do you ever get that feeling like you're being watched?' he'd think to himself.
Obviously he was just paranoid, there's no one else around, right?
