It was January of 3022 and the pilot of the U.S.S Kansas has finally arrived within the star system dubbed KS-1291861. The young man was sent just eight years earlier from Salina, Kansas back on Earth to research the oddities of this system; specifically the planets of Wichita and Independence. Both planets have been reported to have liquid oceans on their surfaces. Where there's water, there's bound to be life. Wichita was the first stop for the young pilot and it at first glance a unique place. Two large masses of land and several large bodies of water. The planet was just a tad larger than the planet Earth and had very few differences, the most notable being the climate. Wichita is just a bit warmer than Earth and it has four moons rather than just one. It even has a small ring system, though unless one is close up, it's practically invisible. He has scheduled a six month long research mission on the planet and after this mission is complete, Ray will move onto Independence. However, upon arriving at the planet he realizes he is not alone. Not only have several pilots from Earth tagged along on the journey, he finds that several spacecraft of unknown origin have also arrived. One of these unknown pilot's appear to be a simple grey alien like those spotted in the Roswell Incident while another group seems vaguely humanlike with the exception of their strange abilities to transform into large arthropods. What will become of this strange group of pilots?
Life on Wichita is a cross between that of the Earth during the Silurian, Carboniferous, and early Holocene periods. For instance, life within in the oceans is considerably simpler in comparison to ocean life on Earth today, while arthropods have dominated the seas and play a large (literally) part on land. Large spiders, scorpions, centipedes, dragonflies, early reptiles, and human like creatures also appear in various parts of the world. The human like creatures (dubbed arthros) have a culture and lifestyle similar to what's been seen during the days of the Bible to as advanced as the early Roman Empire. Technology includes chariots, swords, bows and arrows, and the like.
The life on Independence is far more developed than that on Wichita. The life is a bit more similar to what the world was like during the late 1800's. The dominant life (dubbed Dences) have technology much like the United States did during the early industrial revolution; trains, early automobiles, steam engines, revolvers, early cameras, and the like. While animal life is quite unique as large reptiles similar to the dinosaurs are common throughout the planet and in some parts, life is extremely similar to that of Earth.
What I'm looking for is a group of 1-3 people to join me in a journey of cosmological proportions. I'm hoping this'll be a long term RP that'll encompass the travels of both Wichita and Independence. Combat is unlikely, but it is a possibility as animal attacks and possibly infighting between the pilots can occur. Romance is a possibility, but I'd greatly prefer it not to take over the purpose of the plot. I'd prefer posting lengths be between 1-3 paragraphs. Please make an effort on your spelling and grammar, it doesn't have to be perfect, but an effort to make it readable is greatly appreciated.
Humans, aliens, fantasy creatures, anthros, furries, and other races are all welcome. You can be one of the pilots that had come from Earth, you could be among the grey aliens, or you could be a totally unrelated pilot. For even more of a plot twist, it could be interesting to have someone play a citizen of either planet. Anything else regarding the character we can discuss in a PM. If you have any questions, please let me know.
In addition to Ray and the arthropods linked above, I'll be taking the role of one of the grey aliens (Simply calling it Bob.).
Please ask me before you jump in!
It was January, 29th, 3022, just six years after Ray had left Salina, Kansas in his journey to research and collect data from the star system dubbed KS-1291861. There are five planets within this star system, each fairly different from each other but, most of them are rather bland and dull. Despite that, two planets caught special attention from the Astronomical Research Firm in Kansas City, Missouri. The planet they've dubbed Wichita in honor of the hometown of its discoverer and and the planet known as Independence both seem to harbor large, liquid oceans. With oceans comes life, and where there's life, there's a research opportunity. Upon arriving just a few hundred miles from Wichita's atmosphere, Ray's ship, the U.S.S Kansas released a small probe that's been dubbed Eisenhower in honor the 34th President of the United States. The probe was sent into the atmosphere to verify it was safe for a human to land upon. After several moments, a screen on the ship lit up. 67% oxygen, 30% nitrogen, 3% trace gases. Yep, it seems safe enough. The only major differences between Earth and Wichita was the fact that the average climate was just a bit higher and the surface seemed to be mostly iron and carbon. With that being said, Ray began his preparations to land on the planet. He changed into a deep violet jumpsuit and equipped two pistols and a dagger on him.
As the ship began landing, Ray did final checks of his equipment, his ship itself, and anything else that may have needed inspection. "Alright...my jumpsuit is fine...pistols loaded, daggers sharpened, ship's fueled, and vehicles are in their peak condition." He confirmed, sighing a bit. He readied his tablet that he'd use for anything that required researching or documentation. At the end of each day, he was to send back any data he's collected back to the ship which would then be sent back to Earth for examination. The data beamed back to his headquarters back in Kansas would take nearly three years to return there.
Meanwhile, another strange looking ship that was strangely spherical in shape sent out two smaller, flat ships that circled the globe before landing a couple miles from where the U.S.S Kansas was to land. Unlike what Ray's ship, these ships held a humanoid creature that looked similar to the stereotypical grey alien while another carried a group of human like creatures.
