"Some men are born great, others have greatness thrust upon them but be careful with the 3 sisters of fate who serve the shrewd merciless Hades for the gods are very fickle, the higher the might and glory... the greater the fall, beware of their praises but more so, beware of their wrath" explained Cassandra, the oracle of the gods, the priestess that could foretell the future.

Such words would have left even the bravest of romans tainted with worry, that is of course, for those who believed that gods dictated the lives of men... This man, however, was having none of it and in the very temple of the Oracle of Apollo and the 3 fates of Hades, he threw down the gauntlet to defy them all refusing to take heed of the warnings given.

"Nonsense" assured the proud if incredulous man crossing his arms along the chest "A man may loose his health, his wealth, his freedom perhaps even his life, but none shall ever be robbed of free will, of hope or of prowess least he willingly surrenders that, for I have seen many fierce gladiators in battle embrace death itself with a proud smirk and defiant eyes." assured the young man walking away from those who served there.

"Prove me wrong, destinies, if you even can... only then will I abide by your decrees. Till then... I am my own man" defied the young warrior, the noble Patrician, refusing to marry at all, nevermind marrying the woman that the Oracles had insisted upon and he left the temple alongside his best friend, without leaving any offerings to appease the gods.

The two wealthy powerful rich men who shared one and the same mind, thus returned to their homes untroubled by the omens foretold.

Hades had summoned the 3 sisters of Fate to examine this mortal's thread of life and cut it short, but Zeus had stopped it before it was too late.

In their boredom Olympus had made a wager and each god claimed they could sway this unbeliever to their cause, be it by gracing him with favours or forcing him by curses. They were confident that, by the end of it all, this punny mortal human would bend his knees and fall to the ground to pray at the desperate hour of need. Would they even achieve it? Would they manage to break this man into submission?

To whichever god achieved this, Olympus would acknowledge their greater power and vanity was by far Olympus greatest flaw.

Each god placed their most coveted treasure as wager's payment

Zeus laid down the lighting bolt
Hera her peacock feather
Hades his scepter
Poseidon his trident
Hephaestus his hammer
Athena her owl of wisdom and helmet
Demeter her Cornucopia
Apollo his lyre and laurel wreath
Eros his love infused bow and arrows
Aphrodite her golden apples
Ares his mighty sword
Artemis her hunting bow and arrows
Pan his flute
Dionysus his grapes
Hermes his Caduceus
Hestia her burning flame
Nike her glorius wings of victory
Selene the moon itself
Helius the sun chariot

and so, one by one, each of the Olympians laid down their prized symbols and they were cast into the mortal world and the wager thus began.

The living world had become the arena of the gods whilst, in their blatant defiance, these stubborn humans were set to become the gods of the arena.

Moon Eclipse (played by Shadow13)

Moon laid down her cat necklace and her sword. The two items she used that let mortals know she was the goddess of the Nekos, the cats, and the humans. She governed all cats and nekos but the humans she only partially governed. She was going to show the humans compassion in order to get them to believe in the gods again. If not all then at least one. She entered the mortal world along with the others. She did what she normally did when she met them. She greeted them all with a bright smile. Even Hades. "Hello, my friends." She said as she greeted them. "I guess the race is on?" She asked Zeus.

Oh how they found themselves amongst these stuffy toga wearing idiots they would probably never know. They had never seen these gods before a few years ago. They bickered amongst themselves like children as they watched their subjects slaughter each other like swine, if they wanted to know real war theyed vist their home. These pompous fools wouldn’t last a week in the Otherworld, their home land. They absolutely showed them no respect. And the triple goddess wasn’t one to be ignored.
Restia (played by robinnrose)

Restia warped onto the middle of the road. It was high in the afternoon with no one on the road. She dressed in a way she doesn't' seemed to be from these lands. She wore gothic clothes. She adored them for their style and cuteness. For it, she looked more European than the people of these lands. From the odds and ends of her gothic dress and cute shoes, donned in black, purple, and dark blue, a grimoire, a magic book, hanged off her right waist. The book itself was restricted with chains and a lock. In the land of supernatural rarity, she looked like a scholar. A very high end scholar with quite a bit of money.

"Back to this world huh...." Restia said, "Feels like home...yet not. [Lore Reading]. ....Well it seems I am in the party~. I guess what this one has to offer. It has been awhile~." She these to herself and went off down the road to a nearby city.

"You are far too silent, centurion Cassius... I don't like it at all, it is quite unsettling for you not go rambling on, what is the matter now?" asked Flavius, his scruffy blonde hair a clear indication that the man had rested very little in far too many days

"Well.... you know... I can't believe we wasted a whole two weeks travel to go to the temple of the gods only to completely disregard what Cassandra, the oracle, had to tell you. "What if she is right? What if the gods truly are playing the strings and your refusal to marry Caesar's kinswoman will turn to our ruin?" asked Cassius, the roman centurion, running his hand over the short hair.

"Don't be daft, Cassius, no one can know the future with certainty, because there's something called brain that we humans use to foil the gods and their absurd plans.... if they even dare exist... I have yet to meet any." informed Flavius outright

"Should they exist, these gods are fickle, they could not care less about 2 mere mortals like us both, Cassius, they have more important men to focus on like Caesar, Marcus Antonius, queen Cleopatra, the senate and so many other worldly wealthy rulers... why on earth would they care about a poor centurion and a tribune at random, from among all those that live in Rome no less?" dismissed Flavius, the roman tribune, shaking his head and causing the blonde hair to scatter further

"Well wish you had spoken this sooner, it would have saved us a week roaming for nothing... we could have been drinking wine at the village's festivities. I almost killed that Cassandra oracle woman... after all the trouble to get there she should have said something enticing and meaningful, I like to hear good news of glory and gold, not disappointment and dire warnings" humphed Cassius looking and spotting a figure ahead

"Let us return home and forget we even came here" decided tribune Flavius

Hades.jpg

Hades looked on all the more irritated that these two Romans could be so blatant in going as far as denying their very existance.

Zeus, for once, agreed with Hades and looked at Poseidon

"Something has to be done... indeed..." muttered Zeus turning his attention to the new arrivals, the triple goddess.

"Welcome to our temple... what brings you here? Are you coming to partake in our wager?" quizzed Zeus curious and intrigued, the immortals having taken mortal flesh and made themselves known at the temple though, by then, Flavius and Cassius were long gone.

“Oh no, I’m here ta watch and listen. Ah can’t do much bein this far from home. I’m only here ta watch the on coming blood bath in a few years.”
The feminine figure spoke from her shadowed corner as she pet the strange black bird with an orange beak resting upon her hand.

Her voice, though soft as a whisper ,was that of three women speaking at once along with thousands of men’s dying screams of battle.
Moon Eclipse (played by Shadow13)

(Thanks for calling my character powerful! I really appreciate it!)

Moon smiled. "I am here to help these mortals believe in us by using compassion, dear Zeus. I have come far from my real just for the occasion. I do hope my presence was not a bother and, Hades, of you'd like my help in getting anymore spirits to your realm, just let me know." She said with a bright smile.
Restia (played by robinnrose)

It was awhile on the road. She used her magic to access her magical storage. Brought out a horse suitable for the time. Saddle with bags and baggage. She was sitting sideways, to the left side of the horse, considering she was wearing something nice. She was taking her time of the year, taking it slow along the road. Her locked book was open, and she was reading out of it. Nothing on her mind. Just, practicing with her magic needed for this world. Perhaps trying to look normal. "Salutations gentlemen" Restia said as she gave a wave. She closed her book before hooking back on her waist. The horse slowed down a bit before stopping.

"Death is far too merciful for these two wretched... they deserve suffering for their contempt and disrespect" scoffed Hades

"Poverty, illness, slavery, persecution from good and bad alike by day, with not a day's rest, nightmares and fears of darkness by night that they may not get a night's rest either until they crumble to pray on bended knee" insisted Hades rubbing his beard thoughtfully and looking at Zeus meaningfully

Zeus took a deep breath and turned away "do with them as will, you may work on the hard side of life, whilst she tries to win him over with her merciful charms" accepted Zeus unsure whether to crush or assist to win these mortals over

Flavius walked on foot, tugging the horse reins followed by Cassius

"I know not what else can possibly go wrong today, our tent caught fire, the horse needs a new horseshoe, then the bandits robbed us blind... when our superior hears that our armour was stolen we will get fifty lashes for a flogging and a week or more without pay!" complained Cassius at the terribly bad luck of late.

"You're lucky we're alive and breathing those bandits could have left us in a pickle were it not for our daggers and short swords" muttered Flavius shaking his blonde hair in disbelief at how many things could go wrong in such a short journey, clearly the curse of the gods hovering over them already.

The pair paused and saluted Restia

"Ave... traveller..." muttered casually as if there was nothing wrong with them at all
Moon Eclipse (played by Shadow13)

She walked up behind Restia. "Hello, friends." She said before Restia could respond. She walked up to them and asked, "What has happened to you kind souls?" Her goal was to get them to believe with compassion and then when they believed in the immortals again, they would be punished accordingly for their crimes so that they would know who did this and why.
Restia (played by robinnrose)

"Well that was quite rude of you, girl. Especially popping out of nowhere." Restia said with a frown and suspicion, "But they do seemed to be in quite of a situation." One of those huh...This one seemed to not care of magic restrictions. Surely something will go wrong. She readjusted herself and her manners, in consideration for the world.
Moon Eclipse (played by Shadow13)

She turned to Restia, "I apologize, ma'am. And I didn't pop out of nowhere, I was following you the whole time." She said with a smile.

Flavius and Cassius simply smiled broadly at the two women.

"Not much has happened in this warm, sunny, fine day, ladies. We just come from worshipping the gods at their temple up that mountain, had a chat with the oracle... and were simply returning to our beloved city of Rome" assured Flavius brushing aside the fact they looked covered in cuts and bruises, with limpy horses and naught but a short blade for protection.

"Feel free to go to the temple, I am sure the gods as squabbling over a few pesky prayers like starving dogs upon a chunk of rotten flesh" grinned Cassius clearly disrespectful of all deities which caused Poseidon himself to cringe
