It's a warm night, about 5 PM, and the Hayes parents are talking to Chiyoko in the living room of their home. They introduce the children to her, who are all in the room. Kate is watching TV with Kayla, Gracie is spectating a game of Pokémon cards that Max and Drew are playing, and Luke is happily banging a toy against the floor.
"Alright, Chiyoko, we've left emergency numbers next to the kitchen phone. They include our cell phone numbers, the kids' doctor, the relative's house where we're going, poison control, and the like. Inside the medicine cabinet in the upstairs bathroom are Kate's rescue and controller inhalers. If she starts having an asthma flare-up, she'll be able to use her rescuer by herself. In the morning, she'll need to take the control inhaler. Extra hearing aid batteries for Gracie are also inside."
"For meals, there's leftover pizza in the fridge you can heat up, and the kids can have crackers and an apple each as well. You should give Luke some applesauce and either plain toast or a scrambled egg. There is also enough pizza for you to have some. In the morning, Luke should have apple juice and dry cereal, and the other kids can make their own cereal, toast, and the like. You can have whatever you'd like to make, as long as you clean up."
"You can let the kids play outside, but not after 6:15. Make sure you keep the doors locked, as well as the windows. The kids should be asleep before 9. Luke should be in bed before 8. Make sure you keep the baby monitor receiver close to where you decide to sleep, and turned to a volume where you can be woken up if Luke needs something. You sure you can handle six kids?"

Chiyoko smiled brightly, trying to commit it all to memory. Maybe she should have taken notes...
"Of course I can! Kids are easy to deal with," she assured them. "Especially young ones. Once they reach 8 they can get a little scary..." Okay, time to stop talking before you offend them. "But it's not like I can't handle it!" ... Nice save. "Is there anything else I should know about them, or is that all?" The parents seemed to have covered the basics, but sometimes parents forgot, so she always felt she should ask to get the last bit of memory out of them. How was she supposed to remember which one was which, though? I guess she could ask them. "What if they're still hungry after all of the snacks they're allowed?"

"Normally, we just give them some water and then they're fine. Often times, the kids are actually thirsty," Joseph states. "Also, Kayla's stomach is upset by lettuce, but that shouldn't be a problem. Max and Drew, in case you couldn't tell, are twins. They might try tricking you by dressing up as eachother, so watch out for that."
Drew stands up at that. "Hey!! We don't do that!" Kate turns from her position on the couch. "You do too!" It's clear an argument isn't brewing, the children's tones are more playful.

"Well, alright then!" Chiyoko chirped, which showed her extremely cheerful nature. "That shouldn't be a problem at all!" On second thought, six kids sounded like a lot and what if she lost them or they hated her? Wait, no, positivity, positivity! After all, she had often had to take care of her own little sister (for a few years, actually) despite the extremely small age gap between them (her mother was just very tired when she got home), as well as their pets and sometimes the neighbor's son, Matthew. Like, all at once. And she was like... 14, maybe, at that time, so... She had this.
Luke abandons his toy and crawls over to the ongoing game of Pokémon cards. He sits upright and watches, before snatching one of the cards. Drew quickly pries it out of Luke's hands.
"Well, we're going to go. Bye, everyone! Thanks for doing this, Chiyoko. We'll pay you when we return," says Joseph. "Bye kids!" Susan says. And with that, the parents leave.

"No problem, have fun!" she called out to them, waving. She then looked over the room to make sure all the kids were there putting down her backpack and taking out a notebook and pen and to quickly jot down the care notes. She also created a page that she set aside where she wrote the kids names so she could write a brief description of them to help her remember who was who. Luke was the easiest to fill in, since it could be assumed he was the youngest because of his special care instructions. The rest of them could be figured out later.
Kayla chatters to Kate about the show they're watching. Meanwhile, Max wins the Pokémon card game and the twins put everything away, then dash upstairs to put it in their room.
"So... I'm sorry, which of you is which...?" Chiyoko asked the one she assumed to be the oldest, having counted all of the other kids. She could take a few guesses based on their names, but they might not be very accurate. Hopefully she had spoken loud enough for them to hear her... Maybe her voice was too quiet because she was a little nervous, or it shook. Maybe she didn't say anything at all!
"I'm Kate!" Kate responds. She then introduces the other kids, but stops at Max and Drew. She facepalms. "I think Max and Drew went upstairs.."
Chiyoko scribbled all that down in her frilly, fancy handwriting. "Well, can you just tell me which one of them is which? That's really all I need." After all, it was pretty easy to figure out the two kids not mentioned were the twins. She really didn't see much difference between them besides their shirts... And the fact one looked messier than the other. But they were little kids, so that could be ignored.
"Drew likes wearing red shirts and Max wears dark blue," Kate says.
A few moments later, Max and Drew come downstairs. The thing is, they're dressed as eachother. They've also done their hair as the other's style.
"Oh! There they are," Kate says.

Now was her time to impress them by showing off that she knew the difference! She got up and approached them, then knelt in front of Max. "Hello-" Their parents said they liked dressing as each other, didn't they? She looked at her notes... Yes, right there! They like to dress as each other. She looked back up at the boy. This one was clearly meant to be Drew... She took a moment to figure out whether or not she was being tricked. She had a fifty percent chance of getting it right. Considering these were two young tricksters, she wouldn't put it past them to try. At least if she was wrong, they'd brush it off as a simple mistake of confusing them for one another. "Er... Max...?" she asked, risking being wrong.
"Darn it!" Drew says. "It didn't work."
Max nods. "Yeah, I'm Max."
Gracie giggles. "Ha! She saw right through you both!"
Max nods. "Yeah, I'm Max."
Gracie giggles. "Ha! She saw right through you both!"
Her face lit up when it was revealed that she had been correct in her assumptions.
"Oh, it almost worked. I was fooled for a good minute there. Next time, don't try it first thing. Your parents did warn me, after all." She knew they'd eventually pull it on her again, and she'd probably fall for it, but she was prepared. "The most important part of a prank is surprise, you know?"

"Yeah," Drew says.
Kayla gets up and goes off to use the bathroom. Kate gets off the couch and sits by Luke, who had returned to banging his toy against the floor. Max and Drew go upstairs and change their clothes before returning.

Well, now comes awkwardness. Um... What exactly was she supposed to do now?
"Are you guys hungry?" she asked. Then she realized it was only like 5:15 and that made no sense. "I mean... Do you want to go out or...?" Dangit, Chiyoko, please!

"I'm kinda hungry," Gracie says. Luke quits banging his toy and turns around, sucking on his hand. He let's out an "mmm" sound, making Kate giggle.
((Are you still there?))
((Ah, it's alright))
