~ Introduction ~
Gazing up at the sky, you could swear it was either dawn or dusk, but you know it may be either, or neither; the atmosphere is cloaked with a thick veil of fire. The forests burn around you like thousands of magnificent candles, and the buildings start to crumble asunder, engulfed in flame and drowned in smoke and ash. Barely anything you see is recognizable, except for the occasional street sign that reveals to you what street you are on... Those signs may be the only indication that there was ever a town there at all.
A flock of doves soar high above your head, attempting to escape the raging inferno, before they fall, their internal flesh cooked alive. The dry grass burns like fields of tinder, and glass shatters in the buildings around you, like detonations from miniature explosives.
You fall to your knees as you realize how much you have lost... how much everyone has lost. Their homes, pets, their very lives are gone forever. You attempt to restore your vision by rubbing your arm against your eyes, although it is a futile endeavor; almost all of your exposed skin is covered in grit, dirt and soot, which all but obscures your vision even more. Squinting, you look ahead and take in the sight that haunted you until your death. The entire mountainside behind your hometown burning, the flames never dying, spreading ceaselessly. And then, a catastrophic explosion all but impairs your hearing and almost blinds you, and then the wind begins to pick up. The last thing you see is a great mushroom cloud as orange and yelloe as the sun, and a thick wave of smoke and ash ripping from its centre, destroying everything in its wake. The shockwave hits your first, knocking you backwards, and then after that, the fire engulfs you and you live no more.
The year is 2026. After much tension throughout the world, the Final War broke out (calling it WWIII seemed a little too polite). Within only months, millions were dead, and following that, the death count started to slowly creep towards the billions.
This RP/story follows the final few days of a band of survivors - neighbors, mostly. Driven together by fear and a longing to be with at least one another human being before the end, the strangers quickly become close friends. No... They became family. All of them know that any day now, the bombs will be dropped, and the flame will engulf them all. Unknown to them however, they are some of the last survivors of humanity, and they live in the safest countryside in the world... for a few days.
Not all of the survivors are strangers. Two of them are best friends, and two are former lovers turned bitter rivals. Over the course of several days however, they all must consider one thing: will they live out their final days in hatred and fear, or will they make the best of it?
Two of the survivors include Remedy Brooks, a highschool violinist and poet, and Damien Ursull, a retired hunter and trapper. (Both are played by me.) The two know there must be more survivors... There must be.

This is no traditional apocalypse story. There are no hordes of the undead, no time to struggle to survive, no time to make alliances and enemies... In total, the survivors - most of whom lived in a quiet neighborhood called Asterdale - have only 5 days to live, and they all know they are going to die. This RP will be filled with unrelenting heartbreak and sorrow, sceness of laugh and song, touching scenes involving the characters sharing their memories and now fruitless dreams with one another, and beautiful moments involving the characters expressing who they truly are. (Such as Remedy Brooks playing the violin while harmonizing to the notes as the atomic blast approaches her.) But in a nutshell, there will be lots of tears, be them tears of fear, sadness, love, laughter, or acceptance.
