Sair shook his head. "There's nowhere else. This is the only place the gangs don't dare touch. Since it's big and fancy, it's got crazy-good security and the cops will be all over the place in minutes. Not to mention the rumors about my real dad..." He sighed, giving a soft 'tch'. "Not that they're true.." He rolled onto his side, closing his eyes. After a few moments, he decided to explain. He knew she would be asking anyways.

"There's a rumor goin' around that my real dad, who's more of a freak than I am, is always around, watchin' the house and the family he left me with. They're too scared to get near the place 'cause they think he'll swoop down and 'save the day'." Obviously, he didn't believe a single bit of it. From what she heard from his foster father, it wouldn't be surprising that Sair had bought into the statement that his father had completely abandoned him.
Ariadne slid down the wall as he talked, parking her ass on the carpet. She hadn't known Sair for very long, and had truly had a very bad first impression, but she was beginning to feel that he didn't deserve half the flack he seemed to be getting. Ariadne found this distressing, because she had a pathological need to help those who were suffering, and she couldn't see a damned thing she could do about his situation.

Sair yawned, still finding himself tired from the long night he had. "Ariadne.." He sighed. "I'm not gonna let them get you, okay? So just chill out, crazy chick..." He yawned again, and soon fell asleep. He'd had a long night of cleaning the soup kitchen, and the emotional stress from his parents didn't help either.
Ariadne was surprised to find that she trusted him to do just that. She wasn't sure why he felt the need to remind her of that though, was he worried about it? Or perhaps he misread her distress over his situation, as distress for her situation. In truth, since the fighting had begun, it had been completely off of her mind.

Sair had fallen asleep, and so Ariadne crept out of his room, pulling the door closed behind her, and went off to her own room, where she slept heavily.

The next morning, there was no early arising. In fact, Sair didn't knock on her door until close to eleven. "Ariadne, wake up." He had a little bit of good news. Good news for him, at least. When she opened the door, he'd jab a thumb towards the stairs. "Come on, let's get breakfast. The old man and lady are out at work, so we don't have to deal with their griping."
Ariadne had still been sleeping when Sair had banged on her door. The last couple of days had been very stressful for her, and a long sleep was exactly what her body needed. She awoke feeling like a new person. Thankfully she had the day off. She hoped whatever they were involved in would be resolved quickly, so she wouldn't have to use her sick days.

She likely wasn't looking her prettiest when she'd opened the door, and peered blearily out at Sair. His parents weren't home? Thank god for small favors.

Sair took her gently by the arm and walked with her to the kitchen. He sat her down and started making breakfast for them both. He was glad his parents weren't there. But he did find a note, which he crumpled and left in the trash. He sighed. It was going to be a long day.
Ariadne sat down at the table with his prompting, and was somewhat surprised when he started to cook for himself, and her. What happened tot he opportunist she'd met days ago. Something had changed in him over the last day, it seemed. She watched with curiosity as he threw out the note.

"What does it say?" She asked.

Sair smirked slightly when she asked about the note. "You don't want to know. It's mostly just a set of rules. They always try to control me after a fight, but it never works." He shrugged and finished the omelettes he was making, putting them on plates and sitting down. One plate was given to her. He got up quick, as a second thought, and got orange juice for the both of them too. Then, he sat down and started eating. He was used to cooking in his own home. He didn't really give it a second thought.
Ariadne rolled her eyes at the idea of his parents leaving a set of rules on the table for a grown man... or at least, what looked like a grown man. She remembered now that she'd wondered yesterday if he wasn't younger then herself. She asked now, as she took a generous bite of her omelette.

"How old are you Sair?" Not that it mattered much, his parents had been unjustifiably cruel to him yesterday. She couldn't imagine that raising Sair had been easy, but no one deserved to be talked to like that.

Sair smirked at her question. "How old do I look? Or how old am I actually?" He chuckled and ate his omelette, just focusing on his food until she clarified for him. Of course, the question probably confused her a lot.
His answer did puzzle her somewhat. Enough to move her attention from the omelette, to his face. She searched it for a clue of how old he was, oh god, had she been harboring a runaway kid after all? She could get in a lot of trouble for that sort of thing... not that she would stop, his parents were awful.

"Err... well you look late teens early twenties..so I guess, how old are you really?"

Sair leaned back in his chair, taking a bite of his omelette and speaking casually. "I think somewhere in my eighties. Some years kind of blur together." He tilted his head slightly. "In case you haven't noticed, Ariadne, I am not a normal person. So this really shouldn't surprise you." He chuckled and finished his omelette. He got to his feet and took care of his dishes. "My earlier years are pretty hazy. I drank a lot. So my age is kind of a half-guess. I know it's in that general area, at least."
In truth she wasn't all that surprised. She'd always know he was a little...different. But at the same time, having had very little...well no dealings with the supernatural, it came as a bit of a shock. She took another bite of her omelette.

"Your older then they are then...am I right? They should be more respectful."

Sair held his arms out, indicating himself. "Yeah, but look at me, Ariadne. They don't see me as some 'wise elder', they see me as a freak they have to take care of. If my dad wasn't paying them to take care of me, they'd have me kicked out or put in prison or something like that." He sighed and sat down on the counter. "It's really complicated. Everything kinda ties into everything else, and I'm not really one for spilling my 'sob story' to people."
Not wanting to spill his sob story of not, Ariadne couldn't help but feel a little bit upset on his behalf, for the situation he'd been put in. She wondered what kind of jerk his father was, to leave him in this house. She didn't say anything, she didn't think he would receive her pity very graciously. There was literally nothing that she could see, that she could do to help him. It urked her today, as much as it had the night before. She took another couple of bites of her breakfast, and washed it down with a swig of orange juice.

"This is great. You're a better cook then I am."

Sair listened to her compliment and gave a short laugh. "Of course I am. I've been cooking for a lot longer than you, Ariadne." He smirked. "Now that my age secret is out, I get to flaunt how much more experienced I am." He stretched, hopping down from the counter. "Do you want a shower? If so, I need to grab the guest towels and put them in the bathroom." He didn't like just sitting around. He preferred to be doing something. Anything.
Ariadne had a strange feeling that Sair flaunting how much more he knew about everything to her, would get old really quickly. She finished off her breakfast.

"A shower would be great."

Sair nodded and went upstairs to get the guest towels and put them in the bathroom, then he came back down. "Alright, everything should be in there. I don't think it's too hard to work the shower, but if you have questions, shout. I'll be on the computer in the Great Room over here." He pointed to the one large room across the hall, a lavish living room of sorts.
Ariadne nodded, and headed off to the shower. She spent a little time in there, letting the hot water wash away all the negativity she'd been feeling over the last day or so. When she got out, she felt like a new person. Make up, and dressing would take no time at all, and then when she was ready, for whatever, she would go back down to the 'Great ROom'
