Sair scoffed slightly and rolled his eyes. "How come this doesn't surprise me?" He sighed and took his turn, watching her for a moment. "Why don't you do anything but work? Isn't that boring, or stressful, or something?" He didn't understand her. He loved partying, hated working, etcetera.
Ariadne dropped her eyes. Of course it was. She didn't have an answer either, as to why she kept doing it. A therapist would have said she was trying to escape her past, or perhaps that she worked all the time, so she wouldn't have to develop real relationships with people, because it scared her. She didn't want to dwell on it.
SHe took her next turn instead of answering.
SHe took her next turn instead of answering.
Sair noticed how she avoided answering. He almost pestered her about it. Almost. But it would show he actually slightly cared, so he instead changed that around completely. "Well, if you're looking for a bit of fun, my bedroom is always open." He smirked and winked, then took his turn. He couldn't let her think he was getting soft. He had to keep up the punkish front. Punkish, perverted, violent. He had to show all of those things. Couldn't let her get past it. Certainly not.
Ariadne went tomato red as he jested with her. At least, she told herself he was jesting. She didn't really know. Didn't know in general what to make of him. She chewed on her lower lip, a tell tale sign that she was nervous or uncomfortable, and took her next turn.
"I uh...that is, no - no thankyou."
"I uh...that is, no - no thankyou."
Sair was quite satisfied with the reaction he got. "Your loss." He took his next turn, then leaned on his stick and watched her. She was interesting. He was definitely going to make sure the gang didn't get this one. "Well, one way or another, I'm gonna teach you how to have fun while you're here." He wasn't going to let her be a stiff for her whole life!
Ariadne gave him a worried look. She wasn't sure she was up for the kind of fun Sair likely liked. Still, wasn't it what she needed? To loosen up a bit? Certainly everyone she'd ever met had told her so. Still, she found the idea, oddly scary. She took her shot.
Sair observed the table carefully. They were almost to the last ball, the 8 ball. He took his shot, then leaned back. It was...nice, to just relax. He didn't get to relax like this often. Usually he played pool by himself, to get away from his parents.
Ariadne aimed for her last ball, and got it in, then she turned her attentions on the eight ball, she missed. She let out a soft groan. Of course.
(Shall we roll to see who wins?)
(Shall we roll to see who wins?)
Sair smirked and tried for the 8 ball himself, taking in a deep breath. He kept a careful eye on his stick, aimed as best he could, and fired. (lowest out of 10 wins?)
rolled 1d10 and got 10
(a formality at this point, but i don;t want to be left out of the rolling)
rolled 1d10 and got 3
Ariadne let out a long breath as his shot missed. She was going to win! Clapping her hands with joy, perhaps the first time she'd showed any significant interest in something since she had met him. SHe took her shot, and sunk the ball easily.
Sair let out a couple curses as his shot missed, and an even louder one when she got the ball in. But, instead of being angry like normal, he smirked. "Good job, Ariadne. You did well."
Ariadne grinned widely. She was proud of herself, and a little surprised that he took it so well. She bowed jokingly. "Thank you!"
Sair chuckled a bit at how excited and happy she was. "I guess I'll have to up my game a bit next time." He shrugged and smiled. "How about we go get some soda, hm?"
Ariadne nodded her consent and put away her pool cue. Sair was different this morning, almost...friendly. She wondered what had motivated this change in personality, not for the first time that day.
It wouldn't be a wonder if she started debating that 'bipolar' question again. His mood flip-flopped quite often. Angry, perverted, somber, kind. Apparently he just couldn't make up his mind. Sair went up to the kitchen with her and got a soda for both of them. He wanted to make her have fun, so he was being a little nicer. Besides, with his parents gone, the anger and resentment had ebbed away, locked up to be released later.
Ariadne followed him up to the kitchen quite happily. He had achieved his goal, in way. She had been having fun. It had been a long time since she'd had someone to play a game with. Alone as she often was.
Sair thought quietly for a few moments. They couldn't go out and party, that was too risky. He smirked. He knew just what to do! "Alright, next step of having fun." He went back into the basement with her, turning on some loud, pumping music. Party music. "Ever dance, Ariadne? And I don't mean the stupid stiff, formal dances. I mean actual, let-loose dance."
Ariadne followed him back downstairs, her soda in hand. She wondered what he had in mind...maybe dreaded it, would have been a better word. And she had been right to, as seconds after they'd reentered the basement, he'd turned on some loud party music, and had asked her if she danced. She went pale. No,no no NO.
"I uh...I don't really dance.."
"I uh...I don't really dance.."
