Ariadne finished her soup and got up to rinse her dish, and then stick it in the dishwasher. She thought it funny that he'd taken her comment seriously, when she'd meant it in jest. Evidently the man was big trouble. Not that she should have been surprised. Probably she should jump ship before he had a chance to drag her into anything else. Somehow, she couldn't make herself do it though. She leaned against the counter.

"So what do you do for fun, when you aren't worried about getting shot?"

Sair looked at her. "I go to clubs, or arcades...sometimes when I want to be alone I go out to the park. But mostly just clubs and stuff." He shrugged a little. "I'm worried about getting shot a lot, so there's not much variation with what I do."
She laughed, though it was more concerned then joyous. God, what was this guy into, to be such a target all of the time. So far, she hadn't seen him do anything horrible...mind you. There was that first time they'd met. Once again she thanked her lucky starts she was in his good books. For now at least.

She wrinkled her nose at the thought of clubs. She didn't like them much. Loud noise, crappy music, scanty women and grabby men. Not her idea of fun. Sounded just like Sair's though.

Sair was indeed an...interesting creature. He was able to do well enough, obviously. But there was definitely something about him that was wild and regretless. Just as he was relaxing, though, a shout came. "SAIR!!"

His stepfather. Sair just ignored it and kept watching the TV.
She watched him for a moment in silence. Simply considering things, and decided what her next move would be. She supposed It was safe enough, she could go home now, couldn't she? Back to work? Back to incredibly safe, dull life.

She tensed when his 'father' yelled for him, looking towards the sound.

His adopted father was upstairs, and he came stomping down when Sair refused to answer. "Sair! What the hell is going on with you and your bum, no good punk attitude? If you have time to laze around, you should have time to get a job! Just because we're rich doesn't mean you can make a bum out of yourself!"

Sair rolled his eyes and just kept watching the TV.
Ariadne just gaped at the man, unable to find words that would have been appropriate. If only this man had known what Sair had done for her just mere hours before!

Since Sair still wasn't talking, his father walked right up, grabbed him by his shirt and yanked him to his feet. "Listen, you good for nothing monster! You'll get a job and start earning your keep around here or so help me I'll--" Sair interrupted him. "Earn my keep? I thought my father was already doing that for me." His adopted father glared. "Well, he doesn't realize how much of a pain you are. He should be sending more!"
Ariadne bit her lips practically, just to keep from saying something she...definitely wouldn't regret. Wait... if she wouldn't regret it, why the hell wasn't she saying something. It was not as if she had to worry about staying there now. What reason did she have to tiptoe around these people?

She got up and rounded on Sair's father. Having heard quite enough. "If there are any monsters here, sir, it is surely you. You are getting paid to give him selter, and all I've heard is complaint, perhaps Sair's father should transfer the duty over to someone a tad more grateful, then you and you wife seem to be. If you ask me, and I'm sure you are not, It's you..." She poked the man in the chest on the word you. "...that is the problem. You're most likely the biggest factor behind his attitude. Maybe you should spend a little less time complaining about a problem, by your own creation, and A little more time, lying in the bed you made." He pulled her finger away from the mans chest, straightened herself up, and turned on her heel.

"Going home, see you later Sair." She called over her shoulder, as she exited. It was funny, this time, she didn't feel at all bad about what she'd said. Perhaps she was getting better at confrontation.

Sair and his father both stared in surprise as she got...well, as she got guts. Sair grinned and clapped as she left, and his father just turned and stormed off angrily. He couldn't believe he'd just been told off by a girl! Sair would sit down again, thinking over this latest happening. Perhaps Ariadne was on to something..
Araidne went directly home. She needed a drink. There was something about Sair's place that seemed to make her a little nuts.

When she arrived home, she needed that drink a little more. Her apartment had been tossed, nothing was in it's rightful spot, several things were broken. Ariande swore under her breath and went to pour self a shot of rum, before she rounded on her house, trying to get it back to some semblance of order.

Sair considered his idea for a while, ignoring his parents and any other complaints they had. He soon got his phone and called Ariadne. "Ariadne, I have an idea.." He smirked. "Why don't we meet up and I can talk about it?"
Ariadne probably sounded a bit stressed when she answered the phone with a 'what?' Who could blame her though, she'd just spend the last two hours super gluing her valuables back together, and righting her furniture.

He wanted to meet to talk? This couldn't be good, consider up until this point, he'd just invited himself over whenever he'd wanted something.

"err...is everything alright?...where do you want to meet?"

"I'll meet you at your house, okay?" He would be there soon, and once he was there he knocked on the door and then came in. "Hey. So, this job of yours, how well does it pay?" He walked over and sat down on one of the couches, looking around. "This place looks a lot better than before."
She flopped herself on the couch, more then a little grumpy. "You should have seen it two hours ago. I think they kept trashing the place after they'd already caught us. It's going to take days to make this place not look like a dump anymore. "

Why did he want to know what her job paid? That couldn't be a good sign. Her eyes slid over to the vodka bottle on her counter. Did she need another for this?

"It pays alright..." Not great, but it covered her bills, and kept her busy.

Sair sat down and smirked. "I see. Well, I have a proposition for you." He spread his hands out. "Let me stay here, and I'll get the payment from my dad rerouted to you. How's that sound?" After a moment, the smirk left and he sighed, getting serious. "Listen, I can't stay with them for one more day. It's driving me insane, sometime soon I'm going to sneak in and slit their throats if this doesn't stop. I can't go live on my own, because my dad would have to know to stop sending the payments, and I don't want to ever see him or talk to him." He shrugged. "This is the best choice for me. And you'd get paid, so it's not that bad a deal for you either."
Whatever Ariadne had been thinking he was going to say, that was not it. She could only manage to blink in response for several minutes. He wanted to live with her? Hadn't he said not three days before, that he would never want to live with such a boring girl, when she'd been jesting about it. Oh lord, what was she supposed to say? She supposed she had to say yes. He'd saved her life after all, and she knew it was a bad idea to stay with his parents, also knew that he didn't have other friends to turn to. Still...

"I Live in a one bedroom apartment Sair. I don't have a bed for you, or a room for you to put your things in.."
Nani (played anonymously) Topic Starter

Sair laughed a bit. "I'm not telling you to share your bed with me Ariadne, geez. I'll sleep on the couch. I'll leave most of my crap at my parents for now. With my dad's paycheck and your work's paycheck, you can probably get a nicer place in a few weeks. You need one anyways, since this one's such a wreck, yeah?"
Ariadne blushed deeply, that hadn't been what she'd meant at all. Still, she supposed it would be the right thing to do, to agree. She chewed her lip for a moment, while she thought out the logistics of it all.

"Okay, here's how it will work. The cheque from your dad, is yours. You will use it to pay half the rent, and half the groceries. Whatever is left is yours. I don't want it. I won't be payed to look after you, I'm taking you on as a room mate. With both of us paying rent, a bigger place, might be doable..." She was rambling a bit, but she was trying to process it all in her head. There were so many things to consider.

Sair listened to her and grinned. "Sounds like a good plan to me!" He paused for a moment, then looked away. "Uh..Ariadne?" He chewed on his lip, not used to what he was about to say. "Thanks." He didn't thank people often. Not often at all. It was hard for him to do without feeling awkward.
