Not your real name that is. I'm talking about your log in name, user name, or whatever you wish to call it. What does it mean? Why is it special to you? And how did you come up with it?
I got mine back when I was younger, and played runescape, which I still do here and there, and I loved the warriors, berserkers. They actually fit me pretty well in how I acted, so I thought that was the prefect name.
Well when I signed up, berserker was already taken, so the site gave me a list of different names, after berserker7 didn't work. I just wanted to start playing at this time, and chose the first one there, it being berserker544. So, now wherever you see 544, or 5445, you know it's me. So thats my story, how about yours?

My username was inspired by a noveling-contest website (nanowrimo, to be precise) and even though I started in 2006, I figured 2007 to be special since that was the year I graduated high school--and thus figured I'd be less likely to forget it.
The Pen and Gryphon combination stem from the fact that I like gryphons a lot, but wanted a different spelling than the usual Griffin, and the Pen because I'm a writer; right now I'm planning on using it as a pen name when I get published.
The username overall has worked out very well; though often it's shortened to Pen--which has become my chat-name. I also like the imagery of a gryphon with a giant pen. There's just something poetic about it.

Lily is one of my most used names. I've used it in several different variations over the years. I have a couple of other user names I used (such as Kitten957, and Mishigu). I actually didn't come up with this on my own. I saw it on another website and I liked it, and I didn't want to be Mishigu again.
I feel really bad stealing their name in retrospect, but I was desperate to figure out a name that didn't have numbers. I was tired of numbers. TheLily has become a standby when I can't think of anything else.
Lily is a pretty name and if I weren't already thinking of renaming myself Logan, I might go for Lily.

Mine is my real life nickname, derived from my real life actual legal name.
TheLilly named me, because I couldn't think of one. Knowing her, it came from the Prozac song by the same name..
Minerva was my second original character, my first being her sister Suzaku (then Minerva reincarnated into a few other forms, including a "fursona"). Suzaku's story soon stripped her from mainstream play and Minerva actually became far more impacting. Being new to The Keep as my primary chat system at the time, I registered in the brand new forum format they had as Minerva instead of Suzaku. Thereafter everyone identified me as Minerva. The character re-rolled, respawned, became a fursona mainstay, and further stuck. Over time I drifted from playing her but I spent so much time as staff before and after then that the name became indivisible from myself. Here we are, 11 years later, and I still use it by habit. In fact, it's all but supplanted my real name, seeing as how my husband and I both online together. I've kept my birth name on my IDs out of respect for my dead mother, and because my in-laws can't comprehend why I get called something else (my father-in-law... thinks it's because I... "think I'm the goddess of medicine"... which I'm pretty sure no form of Minerva is, period. He also thinks I named my daughter Ashli from Ash in Pokemon, when in fact hers WAS a mythological tree after the Ash Tree/Yggdrassil/reference to Odin). But at this point it's become such a large chunk of my identity it's unavoidable.
I already told him the origin of my name... but Reeno is a character i created when I was 10 or so. she was a space pirate, based on Ryoko from tenchi muyo. So I started having people call me Reeno. Then when I was actually allowed to access the internet and use msn, deviant art, eoff, I was obsessed with Full metal alchemist. So then I just matched two and two and theres my name. Though I go by Raine or Raineasawa these days.
This is actually a new handle for me. I've been using it for two and a half years. I picked it because I've always had a strong connection with the Norse god Heimdall, since he is the watchman of the gods, protector of a lucky few, has a mountain dwelling yet was born from the sea, is the son of nine mothers, and isn't married. Before I was Heimdall, I was Kain... in the late 90s I just picked the name straight out of Final Fantasy 2 (for SNES, so 4 for PS ). I had to stop being Kain due to various pressures, though I do miss the easiness of the name. (Heimdall is a LOT clunkier to say IRL than Kain, lemme tell ya. )
It is actually very strange how i got.my user name. It at firat came from a misspelling of fallen sinner. hoever the name has stuck since then.
So once upon a time there was this fighting game I was really into, and there was a certain move in it...
I love cats... and Japan... So, nuff said. xD
Sanne is the name I was given by my parents. It's short for Susanne, which is short for Sousanna, which is the Greek form of Shoshannah, which is Hebrew for Lily.
I stuck with aliases online for about six years, but they were always associated with certain phases in my life and I ditched them as soon as they no longer represented me who I had become. So after a while I just decided to go with my real name. It's unique enough that most places don't have a Sanne yet, so it works for me.
There is one online name that I use when Sanne isn't available though. "Daft Thoughts" references to my decade long and ongoing obsession with Daft Punk. I initially only wanted to use it for Twitter, with how appropriate it sounds, but it seems to leak from my fingertips on registration forms more often now.

I'm kind of like Sanne-- I've gone through quite a few (at the time) similar online names that meant certain things at certain points in my life, and then I gave them up when they no longer fit me.
"Copper_Dragon" is very much unlike the others, and the only reason I picked it was because I wasn't accustomed to using "Lolren" yet (a humorous corruption of my real first name) as a common handle.
...and I like D&D's Copper dragons, what can I say?

I've gone by various internet handles that came to mind out of mostly random thoughts that loosely relate to me and random numbers to keep me from having to put the effort into coming up with another name. My handle around a few places, General Varus II, came from the name of a character I made, who I named off of a campsite in Oblivion, which might have been named for a failed Roman general, so it all comes full circle anyway.
Here, though, my name is actually somewhat significant. My favorite book of all time, written by my favorite author of all time, and the one that's contributed the most to my philosophical development, is Whittaker Chambers' Witness. It was a name that seemed appropriate, although if you were to ask me what I was a witness against, I'd tell you nothing; I'd like to be a witness for something, but I think that's a long time coming in my life. It suits me well enough, and my chat handle of Wit makes me pleased as punch, since I can occasionally conjure up enough of my wit to impress folks here and there.

My username is designed to be pleasing, but not to those who encounter it, but to my favorite character of all time; my sweet Tannis. For the longest of times, she wandered the world without earthly trappings or markings that would have shown her to be anything but a young miss. Every polite knight would address her as Miss, and she adapted that as her name, and so have I. For my username that is~
My username, as a title rather than not, leaves a certain mysterious quality to my presence. "I am the [Chaotic] Doctor in my own dimension of....[everything]."

my username is just what it is. it's short for Kyraniu...and the 45 is just there. i've always had it in lowercase, though on another site its Kyra45 with a capital K. might stem from the fact that my handwriting makes it hard to tell apart my K's from my k's. or as some random person told me...my number is a mix of 42 and 5?... i'm not kyra45 eveywhere though. i've typo'd it before. on a place where i used to be staff you can find a kyra54 most of the time i just tell people to ignore the numbers and call me kyra. xp
Mine is fairly simple, I like Star Wars, I like Buffy and I thought Angelus was a particularly nasty villain. It made sense in my mind to combine the two
What else could my name possibly be?
