Why, hello there! I'm T.J. and I'm just here to let y'all know I'm new and I have no clue what the heck I am doing so if you'd like to start an RP or be friends or anything of the sorts, lemme know I guess? I hope to make a few friends here, despite my introvertedness.
Well, the main thing I'm really interested in right now is Overwatch, so if you play or RP for OW PLEASE lemme know, I'd love to chat with you!
I do create many characters in my free time so don't worry if you don't like/know/care for Overwatch, I really like Nintendo games too and a few T.V shows and music groups (i.e. Supernatural, BTS, Pokemon, SSB, Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, the NHL lmao, and a few more)
Definitely lemme know if you have any tips for me seeing as I've never done this before and I am actually quite terrified. I look forward to talking to a few of you, unless nobody reads this and I'm just awkwardly talking to myself haha...ha...

Welcome to RPR. I'm Asroc. I RP many and mostly Canons, but I am friendly to OC RPers and will RP with them. I do mainly AU RPs as them. Enjoy your time here.
No need to be terrified; I think this community is a very good place to get your start. Take it slow and easy, make sure you ask OOCly before you jump into a situation ICly that might make you unhappy if it was done to you, and always try your best to be patient and kind. You'll get more comfortable as you get practice in. If something feels odd about a situation you're RPing, or a person you're talking to, it's good to listen to your gut--either talk to them or back off and politely let them know that you're not interested in carrying a thread on. You don't gotta commit to nothin'!
That said, I hope you have fun! Lots of people make characters based on games, and lots of others make 'OC's (original characters) that are completely from scratch, or which derive similarities to media the player enjoys. I'm more of an OC maker and player because I really like exploring world building and expanding on character backgrounds, motivations, dreams and fears... and I always feel a little sheepish ascribing all of those to pre-existing IP from different franchises. I'm a little too old to understand the 'headcanon' thing, which probably makes up a lot of that.
If you're just getting started, I find it's nice to cut your teeth in the forums, chatting with and reading what other people are saying. You can click on their user names to check out their player profiles, which can give you a good idea of what other people want (and which can inform you on some common mis-steps in RP! 'Drama' is often mentioned, which is to say that a player will get really excited in meeting another player, and may want to over-share their fears and anxieties, or may get feelings of jealousy or envy that they don't know how to deal with and so they negatively impact their friendship by accident.
A good rule of thumb is that IC = / = OOC -- In Character thoughts, feelings and actions do not and never should equal out-of-character intentions to play a fun scene out. Similarly, IC Actions = IC Consequences -- if your character does something that would hurt another character, either with actions or with words, it's important to acknowledge that they may have to pay a price by getting into an argument or a fight, or the character might lose face or a friendship.
Different people have different lengths to which they like to get to know other players, and different sorts of things they like to RP. Lurk a lot and read a lot and ping some people via private message (if they seem down for it) if any inspiration or ideas come your way.

While I don't RP for OW, I love the game. Wish I had more time to play, and a dedicated team to play with, since I love playing support but get overwhelmed a little too easily...
