I'm looking for a group of people to join me for a long term roleplay. It's a fuse between fantasy and sci-fi, and can have romance if the other players agree to it. Here's a quick synopsis (I'll be playing Theo):
[Theodore Price, an obsessive and reclusive researcher, spends his days studying the pull that the brain can have on reality. His studies, although controversial in the sciences, have begun to draw a parallel between subjective reality and objective reality, and he believes that the true power of the human mind has yet to be discovered.
His research is interrupted, however, when he, and others around him, begin to experience strange, almost supernatural things. Repeating loops of time, unwitting teleportation, various physical anomalies, and more. As the perspective and abilities of this group begins to expand, they slowly realize the existence of more powerful beings, more influential players than they could have ever imagined.
Rumors of vast intelligent structures and god-like entities begin to grow, and the now "awakened" group of humans has quite a lot to deal with.]
That's the layout of this story. I don't really want a massive group, but a band of creative storytellers who have ideas and characters that would fit the plot well. I'm open for change and suggestion. Reply or PM if interested.

Plausible legends of ancient magic, but current magic is not common.
Near future, perhaps cloning and genetic manipulation
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.

I'm intrigued. I can't say I currently have a character that would work for it, but I'd be up for creating one.
I'm currently wondering a bit on how you'd go about bringing a possibly eclectic group of characters together. Without some Professor X on the hunt, would it be more luck? Random? A shared odd look that lets you know they had to have seen what everyone else just walked right past as if it was nothing?

This looks like fun! I would love to be a part of this story.
I want to be part of this. I am ITCHING for a good sci-fi RP. Are you at all familiar with shadowrun? Your setting sounds a lot like it.
I have 3 characters that might fit.
Durga is a brain-damaged, drug-addled, feral cyborg. She understands small words. She can be, effectively, the pet of whomever she likes enough. She's fun to RP but...time and place.
Dmitri Sonabavitch is a big mercenary who likes big guns. He's a loud and boisterous but a good team player and loves going in with a plan. I'll make him human if need be.
Kiva is a self-improving AI in a robot body. She's very curious and likes to be hands-on.

Oooh, this sounds exciting. I'm all for sci-fi, and this plot idea in particular sounds like it would be really fun to play.
As for characters:
Dylan, a former Russian soldier that has electrokinesis; he could develop it throughout the course of the storyline.
I could use John, who's an ordinary British guy that somehow got dragged into this.
I could make a character that fits better with the scenario, if you don't like any of those options.
