Deeply hidden in the back end of a large and ritzy downtown boulevard, a curious looking establishment seemed to stand out among all of the other brightly lit up shops and restaurants nearly similar to its brilliant facade... If not a touch different because it was approaching Hallow's Eve. The usual ebony pillars were wrapped in spirals of glowing orange lights, only one of many Halloween-styled symbols to decorate the high-class pub. The glass double doors of the pub had two window stickers pressed against each of the panes: One of a witch flying a broomstick against a full moon, and another moon-based motif of a werewolf howling on a hilltop among cross-shaped gravestones.
The normal plants that were lined up along the entrance path were momentarily replaced with dead bushes in cracked earthen pots, the branches displaying varying styles of bat and crescent styled ornaments. The shop window decor remained the same as it always had (since it was spooky enough already), but the extra items under the sills were of worthy note: tons of straw bales decorated with pumpkins surrounded the outer edges of the storefront. Two scarecrows were shanked into different sized stacks of hay, both carrying live crows atop their heads that cawed at passers-by in order to frighten them or entice them inside... But remained tame upon their perch otherwise. Bumping the creepy factor was what seemed to be a rotting corpse slumped in a broken rocking chair. Approaching the figure would see it come to life and try to grab onto any unaware souls. Whether it succeeded or not, it would then proceed to open its maw wide, then have a heart attack before stumbling back into its seat as if it finally died at last. (Unbeknownst to the 'victims', it was actually an animatron programmed to terrify the customers.)
The inside of the bar was recently modeled into a scene that echoed an abandoned castle foyer. The walls were plastered over with dark stone tiling; lit torches hung from rusting metal hooks, covered in dust and cobwebs. The shelves underneath now held differing aspects of medieval torture devices and dangerous props of witchcraft alongside the usual photos of the bar owner and her esteemed guests. The tables looked more worn than the usual sleek furniture that the bar was known for, each one holding festive pumpkin-shaped bouquets and lit candles. A tattered carpet ran along a straight path towards the polished sable bar, a giant candle lit chandelier hanging over it and held by various chains that circled the bar's parameter. A giant mirror placed between the walls of booze reflected the blood-laced altar decorations placed in front of it. If one looked closely at the floor as they walked in, a bloody pentagram would be etched around the perimeter of the room, as if the whole bar was a broken ritual hall instead of a pub.... Which was what the devious bartender and owner was going for.
Regardless of the inside and the outside, two things remained the same: the sign sitting in the window announcing open positions in the pub, and the familiar (or unfamiliar) flashing neon sign of the Hollow's Tale Pub and Club.
Speaking of the bartender, she was already gathering her ragtag group of waiters and waitresses about for a brief meeting. Dark skinned hands clad in velvet and fingerless black gloves clapped for everyone's attention, which she finally got after she spoke. “Awright, troops! Gather round, shut yer gotdamn pieholes, and lis'n up!” Black-patent pumps clacked around the empty back hall that led towards the downstairs club, the guest rooms, and the staff-only area as she continued.
“We gon' have a big rush o' folks comin' into the bar this time around, so don't screw this up! This is Hallow's Eve, we don' need e'eryone lookin' at us like we lunatics! ...Aside from them there usuals, that is...” Stopping in front of everyone in her chosen outfit—The dangerously low cut ebony ensemble of a female vampire—she finished her short speech with a flash of her fake fangs. “Now then... Any questions?”
“I beg your pardon, Lexi,” one male spoke up, tipping his wizard hat from atop his white hair as a coy way of catching her eye, “But since when did you of all people started to care about anyone else' opinion?”
“Between the hours of 'shut it' and 'shut your goddamn face,' that's when, Maxie! Besides...”
As the cheeky leader continued her rant, the shop bell rang once to signal a customer. The only one on deck was the chef Mei-Mei, who donned a sailor-style magical girl costume as she wiped down the counters. Her usual odango buns were traded for long pigtails tied in cute pink ribbons, with the chef's hat being styled to match the fluffy outfit. Noting that someone had arrived, she turned from cleaning up the bar and shouted past the closed doors. “Miss Lexi!! Guests are starting to arrive!!”
Catching the call from the back area, the fake vampire stomped her feet to get everyone moving. “You heard Lil' Miss Sailor Chef! Get th' rocks outta yer pants and move! Maxie, Cre-Cre, you're on candy duty! Nire and I got the floor and the bar! And Cre, don't eat the candy this time!”
"Aw, but...! Okay..."
With that, the group filed out of the back area and into the front of the shop, a wizard and a witch carrying big bowls of candy to the front in order to greet guests. A rabbit furre wearing a Playboy bunny outfit to match would be taking orders. And of course, the owner would relieve the chef on duty back to the kitchen as she took her spot behind the bar, watching her staff greet the new faces with their usual welcome:
“W-Welcome to the, uhm, to the Hollow's Tale!”
“Please, make yourself at home...”
OOC: Welcome to the Hollow's Tale: Halloween Edition! The same pub you know and love, all dressed up for Hallow's Eve! Since this is indeed a time where the veil between the realms of reality waver and flicker, anything can happen, and anyone can show up! Rules are somewhat similar yet different to the original Hollow's Tale thread:
1. This thread will be open for the entire week of Trick or Treating in the Forums! Until then, the original thread will be on hiatus. Don't worry though: the bar will be open again at the end of the week!
2. If you wanna join the fun, jump right on in! No need to ask if it's okay! Everyone from any realm, genre, or timeline is welcome here, period! The veil is rising, so come in while you can!
3. RPR's rules still apply here, so the bar stays PG-13ish! No fights are to happen here this time around, since this is a more laid back version of the regular Hollow's Tale.
4. If you have to stop RPing, remember to make an exit!
5. I might end up making a player limit if a lot of characters show up, so I'll give a heads-up if I have to make a cut off somewhere.
6. Have fun! That's why we're all here, after all: to trick or treat and enjoy the season!
Notes On the Hollow's Tale:
• Lexi is the proprietor of the pub as well as the bartender, and currently one other waitress, one chef, and two part timers make up the Hollow's Tale Staff: a chipper bunny girl named Nire, a chubby Chinese woman named Mei-Mei, a shy thing named Creatia, and a stoic man named Maxwell.
•The Hollow's Tale is always looking for other waiters, bar staff, and cooks to help man the bar in their absence, but until the original thread is open again, it's best to ask me OOCly if you can join the staff! (I'll eventually have to make a profile about the bar, huh? That comes later, though!)
• The Hollow's Tale accepts any sort of currency aside from bartering. So bring on the gold, jewels, paper bills, strange looking trinkets that count as currency, etc... Just don't give us animals or living things. We don't accept those.
• Since it's Halloween, the barkeep doesn't care if you're a minor or not. (But she will show all minors the non-alcoholic menu.) Minor or not, it's highly suggested that you come in with payment beforehand.

((I'll be glad to have you, then! I can't wait to see Asroc's post!))
Ryan walked over to the pub. His dad usually came here to get drunk but now it was his turn to join in. Most people said he was too young for trick o' treating but he thought you were never too young. This didn't stop him from being slightly embarrassed when he turned up at people's doors. He had a sort of steampunk engineer type costume on with a curious little contraption he designed himself. This contraption was apple to fire a short column of steam 2-3 feet in the air. "Well, here goes nothing" He thought to himself as he knocked on the door of the pub.
Jacob entered the pub, a little scared from how far out they'd gone for the decorations. As he looked for someone to trick or treat with, his eyes kept flashing back to the pentagram, and he couldn't help but wonder if it was real blood. It certainly looked like it was. Jacob wandered around, hoping that he was going to make it out of there alive.
The black-clad witch giggled as she opened the door of the pub and let the younger male in, noticing that a fox male had also wandered in. Looks like Lexi's decorations worked a little too well... "Welcome to the H-hollow's Tale, sirs!" Creatia cooed at the costumed engineer, straightening her hat on her head. She was decked out in a frilly black and orange number for the event, wearing her hair in long braided pigtails to match the overly girly witch's outfit.
"Did both of you come to eat, o-or did you, uhm, come to trick or, or treat?" She held up the bowl full of candy for emphasis with a cheery smile.

The young rabbit girl is looking at the pub, with big eyes.
"Woaaah....."
She approaches the door, and enters slowly, looking at EVERYTHING.

While Creatia busied herself with the two males, Maxwell welcomed the rabbit eared female with a friendly, yet professional smile, tipping his large and worn wizard's hat to her. "Welcome to the Hollow's Tale, young miss," he spoke. "Would you like for me to show you to a table? Our menu has been rewritten just for this week's festivities."
He raised up the overflowing sweets bowl as a momentary offering, "...Or are you a trick or treater? We have a variety of gourmet candies and sugary goods for all costume goers."

"Oh uh, Trick or treat" he says sheepishly, firing off the contraption which sent steam into the air.
"Trick or treat" Jacob said being unable to take his eyes off of the blood. His mind started racing through how he was going to get out of here, and how they hadn't been reported to the police yet. Maybe they killed everyone who had tried? Jacob felt a shiver go down his spine, and he forced his head to turn to the girl. She was more dangerous than blood that was already spilt after all.
Luciela looks at Maxwell, feeling dwarfed next to him.
".....Oh hum er... I'm... I'm here for both actually..."
".....Oh hum er... I'm... I'm here for both actually..."
Initially worried for the terrified fox, she approached him first. "A-are you okay, mister? Did... Did Lexi's decorations scare you too much? I-It's okay! They kinda f-frighten me too..." She held back on looking around herself; she didn't want to be reminded that her boss and commander was too much of a horror fan. "But, uh.... H-here!" She placed a few pieces of candy into his hands. "It's really good candy, so.. so..."
Creatia was somewhat lost for words (she was never good at calming someone down when she was scared herself), until the strange contraption of the second trick or treater started to let off steam. "Wow...!" she awed at the machine, dropping the candy into his bag as an afterthought. "C-can you tell me how you... You got that to work? Any... Any sort of special mechanical devices, or a technique?" Tech like that caught the witch's child-like fascination more than anything. But she's given them both their candy; either they planned to stay and have a meal or they had to move on.

Maxwell gave a soft nod as he held out the bowl to her, letting her choose what candies she'd like. "Here. I'll have Nire show you to your seat." Turning his head, he motioned the other rabbit eared female over to the door. "We have a guest, Nire."
"We do? Well, hi there, sugar!" Nire chirped, her own ears let loose from their usual ribbon to complete the bar bunny outfit. "Let's get you right cozy here! Follow me, hmm?" Waving Luciela over, she would show her to an empty table and pull out a chair for her. "Here you go~!" She waited for the woman to sit and get comfortable before placing a menu in front of her. "Would y'all like a drink first before you order? We got quite a few Hallow's Eve specials, this week only~"

Cassie stood at the door with a wide grin on her face.
She had come here many a time in her youth, and she was finally back.
She seemed to hesitate before evaporating into thin air and appearing just at the door of the inside.
She then gazed around as she floated a few centimetres off of the floor.
She raised an eyebrow as she noticed some people had already come in. She was sure he had been reasonably early. Damnit, was that frickin’ clockwatch slow again?
To elaborate on that thought, Cassie removed a clockwatch from her pocket, opened it quickly and then snapped it shut, obviously have read the time. She then slid it back into her pocket and let her purple and black tail curl around one of her legs.

Luciela looks at the bunny woman, before answering in a meek voice.
"I... don't know how to read this language.."
"I... don't know how to read this language.."
The place got busy fast, and the barkeep was loving it. However, Lexi would have to outsource for more help if more guests were going to show up like this. As she gave a thought on who would be available to call, she flagged down the cheshire female that poofed right on in. "Yo, yo, yo! Welcome t' th' Hollow's Tale!" She called out, "Come right on in, have a seat, take a load off! Fully stocked bar's open 24/7! What can good ol' Lexi get fer ya today?" She gave a wide grin of her own as she teased, "Or are y'all just here for the candy?"
The cream-furred female frowned in worry upon learning that Luciela couldn't read the menu. "Oh, no! Now that won't do at all!" Nire spoke up as she took the menu and gave it a better look. "If y'all want me too, I can translate for you? Or just give y'all some suggestions on what's good for the night? Whatdya say?"

"Oh, Well its a design I worked on. Took me a while. It has a lot of fans, boiling water and other stuff in this thing." He says. "Thanks for the candy anyways" He gave her a quick smile.
"I'm fine with anything sweet! Even more if it has cherries!"
Luciela started smiling, already looking at everything again.
"Even if I'm young, I don't mind alcohol either...... if it's soft."

Creatia giggled at the thought of a ton of fans helping to work the device, then gave the idea a deeper mulling in her mind before speaking. "That's actually re-really fascinating...!" the brunette said, nodding as he thanked her for the candy. "Thank you for coming, m-mister! H-happy... Happy Hallow's Eve!" She waved him off with a tender smile. If not for the fact she couldn't eat the candy this time (or couldn't go out trick or treating herself for that matter), she would find greeting trick-or-treaters a lot more fun... Though it was entertaining overall.
Nire nodded to the bunny eared girl, taking note of any sweet drinks that had cherries in it... Which were a quite a few drinks, actually. "Well, if you're a lil' ol' minor, we can't be servin' y'all alcohol... but cherries? Ooh!" She perked up, "How about out sweet cherry berry lemonade! Lots of cherries in it and very, very sweet! What'dya think? We also have sum good ol' cherry lemonade or limeade, and cherry-based soda!"

Cassie nodded to the woman as she was spoken to, quickly vanishing and appearing on a stool at the bar.
She was currently biting the inside of her gum as she was reading what the drinks menu read.
She grinned as she noticed a particular drink she liked.
“I’d love a Peroni.” She said to the woman, sneaking a wink to her as around five gold coins poofed onto the table. They were pure gold, so they were obviously worth a lot.
Cassie had expensive taste too, but she was easily able to pay for it.
