As Zanus perused the storefront, aside from the spooky decorations mixed with a subdued elegance, it was just as live and rowdy as any old pub... If you bypassed the fact that some of the customers weren't human in the slightest or had mana seeping out of their pores. Speaking of those with mana (or dressed up like someone who had it), the white haired waiter in wizard's robes had caught his hazel eye on the gunman. Standing tall and approaching him, he bowed in front of the man with a coy smile.
"Welcome to the Hollow's Tale Pub and Club, good sir," Maxwell greeted him, a hint of vague curiosity placed in his voice. Or was it boredom? Like he'll tell that little secret without being asked first. "Is there something you're looking for? A nice meal? A cold drink? Or..." He gives the candy bowl in his hand a shake as he raised an eyebrow. "Are you here for the candy we're giving away?"

Those blue eyes shifted over to the waiter and listened to what was said. Zanus picked up on the possibility that the waiter was more than likely bored, however, the gunner wouldn't call the waiter out from it.
"...Honestly I'm...uncertain..."
Zanus admitted to the waiter.
"This is my first time here, and my first time I have time off from work for holidays. I'm usually busy with my work."
Zanus was well aware that there were humans and non-humans present. Zanus himself was a bit of both. Lucky for him, by being a Dhampir, he required little to no blood intake to survive. Still, he couldn't pass on getting at least something to eat. He knew if his cousin Rune was there, he'd be insisting upon it.
"What may I ask is the specialty(s) of Hollow's Tale? Food wise, that is. And..."
Zanus lowered his voice down for only the waiter to hear, but Zanus could still be heard.
"...Have anything, drink wise, for a dhampir?"
"Uncertain?" the waiter repeated, before listening to Zanus' story and giving a solemn nod as he emphasized with the gunner. "I understand, and know exactly how you feel. Work here and in other places is always stressful. At least one of us has earned a break from our professions, so I have to say that I envy you a little..." Maxwell actually envied the man more than he should. If not for the fact that Lexi called him last minute (again), he'd be at home lounging without a care this Halloween, downing a jar of peanut butter while watching a movie with his beloved ones. Alas, it wasn't meant to be... Lexi owed him big time for wasting a perfectly good Halloween night yet again.
"We have many specialties, sir. It all depends on your taste: are you in the mood for fish, a full vegetarian meal, a more elegant food setting, or something... 'down-home,' as our owner would put it..." Hazel eyes averted on that last statement. It was clear he was more used to talking with more intellectual diction than using the bartender's coarse slang.
Hearing his request for a drink that damphyrs can enjoy, he gave a short nod in understanding. "Then perhaps you would like to have a glimpse at our 'special menu,'" he offered, lowering his own husky baritone to accommodate Zanus' secrecy. "Catered to all types of supernaturals, I'm sure you'll find something to quench your thirst..." His glance was somewhat inquisitive yet wary. He knew of damphyrs--what self-respecting mage didn't know of them?--but what he didn't know was what they drank. The blood of humans? Mammals? Or something else? Not that he minded, but after all... The blood of a magus was on that menu. He was a magus. He didn't want to volunteer without being asked to do so specifically. But the real question here was...
"Would you like me to show you to a seat?" Then he could get a better idea of what the bespectacled man wanted.

Zanus didn't seem bothered by the magus being envious of him. There were times when he himself was envious of his cousin, for various reasons. Keeping his sense open, though not finding anything wrong at this time, Zanus would relax some more. But he was still ready to spring into action.
"A seat sounds good, thank you. Something by the window, if at all possible. If not then I'll take what opening you have, please."
Zanus usually had a preference for things, such as seating, but he was one of the rare people who made a worker's life a bit easier for them. Once seated where the waiter would be able to seat him, Zanus glanced around his immediate area. He spotted the robot, spotted the different people within the building. They seemed to be having so much fun.
Zanus slightly envied them. But he didn't let it ruin anyone's mood, not even his own. What happened to his family was what happened. He had to move on from it, but not forget.
"Got any good steaks here?"
Zanus asked casually after taking his seat.
He went over to the girl reading a book and sat down with her. He smiled and said, "I see that you noticed me. Hi there, my name's Raiden. And you are?"

While the mage in a wizard's guise tried to talk up the silent gunner, Lexi shot another of her trademark grins as he heard out his order. "Smoky yet sweet aftertaste? Honey, we got just what yer' lookin' for!" She pointed a thumb towards the bar as she continued to speak, "Our Maple Oak Smoke Shot Beer just got shipped in today! Goes down real smooth like, gives a nice warm n' suga-sweet caramel buzz as yer aft'r-flava, but not without a tiny bit of kick to liven up th' night! Wha'dya say? Care'ta give it a test run?" If that wouldn't do, she had two more types of beers that fit the bill, both with varying types of intensity.
"Sounds good to me, ma'am," Nais confirmed, placing an arm on the bar top as he placed that order. "It sure does sound like it's up my alley. I hope that it's as good as the sell sounds."
Nais gave a small chuckle, taking his other hand and running it through his hair in order to remove all stray locks from his vision.
"Of course, we have quite a few window seats available," Maxwell responded, "If you'll follow me." With a simple motion of his free hand, he would lead Zanus to a nice window booth overlooking the outside of the store. Countless amounts of people in varying dress and costumes roamed up and down the streets. Some were chuckling, and quite a few were carrying kids on their arms or holding their hands as they were led along the sidewalk. An October event must be happening nearby to have so many families out so late.
As soon as he made sure that the gunner was settled in, the white-haired waiter pulled out a pad from his pocket, taking a moment to place the candy bowl down on the table and rummage in his robes for a pen. As soon as he retrieved one, he heard out the man's order. "Why yes, we have plenty of freshly cut choice steaks... Perfectly grilled to the peak of flavor, no matter what kind of doneness you desire. Will that be your order, or would you like a menu?" He motioned to himself with a slightly cheekier, yet warm smile. "Or maybe you'd like to hear our recommendations? Hand-picked by each waiter and waitress here, of course." After all, if the staff wouldn't eat there, why would the customers?
Lexi smirked in delight upon hearing Nais confirm his drink order. "The sell sounds good, eh? You flatter me, honey baby~ But the booze here is da best bang for ya buck! Y'all ain't hear it from me, this ain't the Hollow's Tale Pub and Club, ya feel me? Anywho," she finished as she jotted down his choice, "Let's get y'all squared away, 'kay?" With a sway in her step, she took her time in going back to the bar. The rush was starting to slow down, and the bar seemed a bit quieter now that it was growing dark. A few older people waited in anticipation for the club side of the bar to show up in the form of the double doors behind the bar opening. It was nearing time for the nightly rush to come in soon, so it was wise to serve the remaining bargoers before closing the topside of the pub.
A few moments later, the phoenix returned with a frosted cold bottle of beer marked with a label that featured a maple leaf motif as its eyecatcher. "Here's ya booze, hun~ Drink up!"
The girl flushed and giggled a little as he sat down at her table, hiding behind her book initially before raising her head up to look at him again. "Uhm, hi. I'm Rinako. R-Rinako Mitsuri. Are you from... Are you from around here?" she asked.

"I'll take a Tri-tip steak, medium well done. What would you recommend to go with the Tri-tip? As for the drinks, if you have a menu for that, I'll take a look at that, please. Though if you know what would go with the Tri-tip meal, that would fit my needs, I'll also take suggestions. I'm not like most, who would be opposed to hearing out their server."
Zanus would inform to Maxwell. While in the Hollow's Tale, the dhampir would split his attention. Most of his attention was focused upon Maxwell, while the rest was focused on the rest of the area in the building.
He waved his paw a bit and gave a rather cute, yet fanged grin.
"Well.. If ya remember. I was... that same doggo. Y'know." He hoped she was not scared of him, though.

Nais watched as Lexi did her business. Fiddling with one of the items on the counter top while he waited, the elven man seemed a little more at ease knowing that there was such a good atmosphere around him at this time. Giving a contented sigh, he only perked back up once he saw Lexi returning with the order that he had made per recommendation.
"Ah, thanks for that, ma'am," Nais thanked, looking to the leaf symbol before taking up the bottle and taking a good swig. That smokey taste greeted him and went down easy, bringing warmth with it. As promised, there was that caramel aftertaste, and the lingering bite of alcohol left. Raising the bottle to Lexi, Nais seemed pretty pleased with the brew.
"Definitely one of the better brews I've had in a long while! My compliments," Nais said, taking another swig.
He soon went over to Nais, smiling. He sat down and said, "Mind if I share a drink with you?"
"Mind if I share a drink with you?"
Nais looked up to whoever had said this and gave a shrug of his shoulders as he took another swig from the bottle he had ordered.
"S'fine with me, I guess. Pull up a seat." Nais was more or less just kind of enjoying the drink he had, and the fact that it was already making him feel pretty good made him less resistant to the idea of socialising more with the other patrons.

((Sorry for the mass delay! I've been sick for the past two days, but now that I'm better and announced my hiatus in the Smalltalk Chat, I can put in as much time as I can with this Hollow's Tale RP until the week is over! So...))
A simple smile carved itself on Maxwell's lips as he gave his own opinion on what his sides should be. "May I suggest one of our hearty baked potatoes as a primary side dish? Topped with your choice of condiments, of course. Freshly mashed potatoes with a side of freshly churned butter is also an option as well." He would give a pause to write down the gunman's request before continuing his train of thought. "A side garden salad drizzled with our homemade apple-balsamic vinaigrette is a fine secondary dish, or tender steamed vegetables if you like your produce warm."
"But drink suggestions that would fit your needs..." That would be a tough one, as Maxwell didn't want to assume that he needed blood right off the bat. "I would highly recommend that you peruse our special drink menu first. Lexi's our mixologist, and she's rather busy. Otherwise," his professional smile brightened a bit, as a reminder to himself on not talking bad about his own boss, "She would be more than happy to provide a basic rundown of what she can offer, and her own... Recommendations, of course." Though knowing Lexi, that would entail a few drinks most people can't stomach right off the bat.
Speaking of the feisty bartender, she smirked as she heard Nais approve of her suggestion. "Much 'preciated, man!" Then she spotted Raiden coming up from the shy girl's table and sitting himself down with the dark-skinned elf. "Well, aren't you the little playboy, eh?" Lexi commented, flipping her bang away from her eye a bit. She needed a better look at these two (and the whole bar for that matter) before she did anything out of the ordinary. "So where you's two headin' after this, eh?" she started, her next statement clearly a tease of a request. "If it's a good ass time, why don'tcha take a sexy thang like me witcha, hmm~?" Was she seriously flirting? Yes, but she meant no harm. It was all an act to get in good with the customers and keep them coming back. Part of business.
Creatia gave a moment's blink to Stratos, looking him up and down. She's heard that voice. Once. But as soon as he said that he was the same creature, it started to click. "Wait... You're, uh, you're that big cute yellow p-puppy that, that came in a while, a while ago?" A hopeful smile started to etch onto her lips. She would make a haphazard motion to snuggle him if he said he was, squealing in delight. She's met many a person who could transform of course, but this one was adorable to her. "S-so cute, even as a, a little dog-boy! Oh wait!" She would back away for a moment, remembering her boundaries. "I-Is... Is it okay to hug you, m-mister?"

Zanus listened to what was offered for the sides and was also gauging his own hunger. He didn't want too much food, and end up leaving food left over. Even if there would be a way for him to take the leftovers home with him, Zanus attempted not to do so. He tried to take care of himself and what he ate.
"I'll take the fresh mashed potatoes with a side of the freshly churned butter. I do not wish for too much please, roughly about say this much."
Zanus shaped his hands to be roughly a medium sized portion of the food.
"And I'd like the same amount for the salad, please. As for the drink, I'll settle for straight human blood, preferably chilled a bit. But if you don't have any as such room temp is fine."
Zanus spoke the type of blood quietly. He didn't wish to scare any of the humans present in the place, as he didn't want them to think he wanted to drink from them directly. Zanus didn't want to cause trouble or cause a scene.

He noticed the two new people walk into the pub. He simply smiled and said "Hello" to them.
He gave a polite bow, much like any Southern Fried Gentleman would. He held his hand out and gave a warm smile, his ears perking up.
"I do like hugs. I mean.. many people fear me fer bein' kinda scary. How am I? People like dogs, right?" He showed his teeth, making a rather charming smile.

Maxwell took to keeping eye contact with the male as he specified his order, taking notes of his meal in the meantime. And of course, repeated everything back to him. "Understood, so a mid-sized serving of fresh mashed potatoes with churned butter and a small garden salad of roughly the same size. And..." The mage in a waiter's guise dropped his vocals in response to Zanus' need for privacy. "A chilled glass of straight human blood. Is there a particular blood type you're looking for?" Some vampires and damphyrs may have a preference, but the gunman may not be one of them. It was always wiser to ask regardless, just in case he did.
"S-so cute~" Was the witch's response as she took the offer of hugging Stratos with unrestrained joy. Seems like she had forgotten that she was working, because Lexi had to excuse herself from Nais and Raiden and come closer to the unfolding scene. "Hey, hey, hey!" the bartender snapped, "What did I just get through tellin' ya, Cre?!"
"B-but, Lexi, I'm, I'm on break~! D-didn't Nire t-tell you?" Creatia whimpered as she flitted her eyes at Lexi.
The action alone made the phoenix's heart skip a beat and then sink at the same time. Why does she always do this? Can't let them big ol' eyes of hers get to me today! Not this time! "Look, Cre, if you're on break, then take all that snuggle fest out to the back area... but no customers! Can't have customers trapsin' around the back area when it's not even 9 yet."
"Aw, okay... B-but can I at least snuggle him while I feed him, please~?" The witch cooed, with a hopeful gaze locked on the owner's face. At least then, she didn't have to take the poor thing outside just to snuggle, especially when it was cold and dark out.
"Ugh, please just- Fine, whatever! But know this, Cre-Cre: that betta be a payin' customer or else Lexi's not gon' be too damn happy, is that clear, chica? Now scoot!" With a side grumble about weakness and random things, Lexi made her way back to the bar, smoothing her scowl out to be more appealing to patrons, but still very much unpleased. At least it was almost time for the pubside to close soon and the nightlife to start up in the back halls and the basement area.
In the meantime, Creatia giggled because she got her way this time around, and petted the dog-boy's head. "S-so... A-are you hungry?" she asked, "I'd, I'd be happy to give you a nice meal...!"

Zanus would shake his head.
"No, I do not have any preference. Just whatever you have on hand. I do my best to not be picky, as I never know what kind of situation I might find myself in."
The dhampir was quite an interesting one, to say the least. He had no preference for blood and had quite the manners even with keeping to himself.
When Zanus was on his own, he would look around the place more. He wondered what it would be like, to have a normal life. Then again, what was this normal that Zanus was thinking of? His life had never been normal since the townsfolk back home turned his world upside down. Zanus would soon stare out the window silently, not wanting to be accused of staring at people.
The white-haired waiter would nod and write the request down. "All right then. I shall return shortly with your beverage." As he turned and left for the bar, he hoped and prayed that there was enough blood in stock.
Handing the drink order to Lexi, she gave it a good once over before giving a weird look and a tilt of her eyebrow. It wasn't one of judgement towards the damphyr, but it did give off the impression that she had some very bad news to tell. "Ooh, he's wantin' that kind, huh?" she spoke, placing a huge emphasis on the second to last word, "Sorry, Maxie, but unless y'all wanna stand in for a decent donor, we's fresh out of the stuff." She scratched the back of her head as she continued. "Remember that stiff we told ya about that walked in here last week? Downed the whole damn box we got in stock and then some? Yeah, he's the reason we's out. Yet to order the next shipment from th' blood back, actually."
Hazel eyes narrowed at the dark-skinned phoenix. "Are you serious?" A moment of silence shared between them indicated that she wasn't lying to scare the man. "So, what do we do now?" Maxwell spoke in hushed tones, "He wants a glass of blood, and I don't think anyone here is willing to be a good donor..."
"Not even you, ma man? C'mon, Maxie, you already know..." Lexi leaned closer against the counter with an expectant glance. "We gotta keep the customers happy, yes we do. So why don't ya meet me in the back, hmm? I'll be sure ta take it nice and chillax on ya~!" A wry, dark grin split her lips. That was all the hint the fire mage needed to know where this was heading.
"You can't be serious, why do I have to-"
"It's either you, Mei, or one of the human regulars, and you already know Mei-Mei's busy as can be... And I know I ain't a good donor. After all," she chuckles, "I'm not quite human, ya know what I'm sayin'?" Then again, neither was the waitress tending to the dog-eared male or the rest of the staff save for Maxwell and Mei-Mei.
A sharp glance in Lexi's direction told her that Maxwell wasn't to be tried with this conversation about being a donor, but the next words that came out of his mouth spoke to the contrary. "...Only a pint and nothing more. Is that clear?" Something told me I shouldn't have worked here today...
A coy smirk played on her lips as she motioned him to the back. "Don't worry 'bout it, man! Lexi's gon' make sure t' take it real smooth and easy on ya, and make sure yer all nice and rested for a bit so y'all can keep bussin' the tables, hmm?" In her opinion, she didn't need to drain all that much anyway.
A short while later after they disappeared from view, Maxwell emerged from the back area with a tall glass filled to the brim of what seemed to be a harsh red liquid. His movements seemed a bit slower, and it looked like he was recovering from a slight case of vertigo. Regardless, he was still able to work and concentrate enough to serve the damphyr his drink. "My apologies, sir," Maxwell explained, "But we are out of chilled blood." Setting the glass down on the table in front of him, he gave a wry, yet friendly smile. "However, we do have blood freshly cooled to room temperature. I hope it will suffice to your taste buds."
Whether the damphyr accepted the drink or not, Maxwell would remain to ask if he needed anything else. Something would seem a bit off by looking at him closely, but could just be shaken off as him working too hard. He did seem like the type, after all.
