Brink Akanah (played by BreezyDawn)

A satisfied curl of her lips slid over Brink's face as she saw the plant creature fall to her arrow, another of the same kind already loaded on her string ready to fire. She flashed a quick fierce grin toward Jesse at his compliment, "You too." She offered, pale blue eyes a bit wild with adrenaline and excitement. Her long blond braid still hung over her shoulder, but even more strands had escaped to frame her face.

She wore a dark grey hooded thick leather vest, over a blue grey cloth tunic. Over her thick leggings, hanging in front and behind, was a deep and wide maroon sash. Over her torso, was clasped a light armor to protect her vitals, and she sported an arm guard on her left arm.

Before Brink had a chance to fire off her next shot, their own barrage of projectiles caused her to duck a bit, twisting quickly and instinctively as she felt the hiss of one right near her cheek. Another whizzed by her left upper arm, tearing the cloth and kissed her skin a bit, searing with a quick stab of pain though as she glanced at it quickly, she could see the wound was superficial, glad it hadn't gotten her muscle.

Momentarily distracted, Brink almost missed the Cyborg's shot as he tried to intercept the enemies last fired projectile. As her gaze caught it mid air, she held her breath, what damage would that cause? she hoped the man's aim had been true.

Her gaze was thrown next to Suki, seriously hoping the woman was done. Not usually one to state the obvious, Brink broke with tradition and called out over the din, "we need to get out of here!"

His senses sky rocketed as the incoming projectiles hailed in on them, like an unholy anger from the Sky Father himself. Throughout the shootout, he was reloading more than he was actually firing the damn thing, ejecting the empty cartridges and fitting in shot after shot into the cylinder. Once an IMP round hit one in the helmet, he couldn't help himself. "How's that, huh?! Ye like that?!"

The incoming thermal rounds prompted his Pythiaplasm to go nuts again. As a stray round darted its way towards him, time seemed to have slowed down and focused on that one projectile. Just then, he rolled his shoulder in the opposite direction of the incoming round, maneuvering away from it. Time resumed its normal pace once it was past him. That was just one though; he couldn't keep that up forever, especially with the constant barrage of Farrovii fire.

He sighed as the gunfight escalated, with more of those plant sumbitches closing in on them. Something told him he could get more out of this god-forsaken planet than just this. He looked to Suki. "Yer a daisy if ye can get it working! As much as ah hate teh admit this statement, I gotta agree with Robina Hood 'ere!" He reached into his poncho and pulled out the nearly drained Bubble-Tech device he used earlier. He thrust it on the ground and pushed the button in the middle, causing the group to be encompassed in an eight feet large bubble of energy, albeit a very weak one which could only sustain so much before giving in. "It ain't much, but this oughta buy us some time!"
Suki Jahani (played anonymously)

She could hear the rounds bouncing off the armor of her machine as she worked to reconnect the last of the control linkages. Several had bent under the impacts that had knocked them loose. Reshaping them as best she could took longer then she had expected but was necessary. Now they had run out of time. Hearing the shouts of the others Suki roughly slams the last linkage into place, being rewarded with a clang as it was forcefully reconnected.

Pulling herself out of her bike Suki notices that she could no longer hear rounds pinging off her bike and that someone had erected a shield. Replacing the pulled side panels, Suki wastes no time in pulling herself into her seat and yelling at the group "Everyone stand clear!" Despite her warning, she barely waits for the others to move before thumbing the ignition button. Once more came the rapid sound of a shotgun being fired twice then silence.

Again she hits the button, holding down the button and the throttle wide open. The machine banged twice again, then a third time. Finally a low whine is briefly heard before transforming into howling roar as the machine becomes airborne, blowing dust and debris everywhere as it carries itself well outside the range of the shield before Suki can bring it back under control. Once under control Suki pulls the nose of her bike to towards direction of the incoming fire, before firing off a short burst from the light cannon under the nose. Little more then semi-wild shots, she at least hoped it would cause the enemy to pull back into cover long enough for her to communicate with the rest of her group.
Riagan (played by Iltheyn) Topic Starter

It was no good; Riagan couldn't seem to shoot the object in time. The cyborg cursed aloud and braced himself for impact. Instead of it hitting them, the shield Jesse threw down blossomed against its impact, causing it to explode outside harmlessly. The explosion was not a harsh one, but smoke gushed from the fallen thing quickly and soon the four mercenaries were surrounded by it. There wasn't anything else to it; just a thick smoke screen obscuring their vision of the outside.

The cyborg cast about in paranoia, acknowledging Suki's warning by shuffling away. It didn't seem anyone was firing on their position any longer but the Farrovii likely did not do this by accident. The machine's propulsion across the room shed some of the cloud away but only enough to reveal partial sight to those still within.

Once outside Jahani was free to fire on the location the Farrovii retreated to. At a more even angle it was easier to see them; four in number, one of which labored to drag the fallen into a half-destroyed corridor behind them. Along with them was a canister bleeding blue smoke out of the massive broken hull. When the other three saw her they aimed and fired at her, only to be bombarded by her hoverbike's cannon. It shattered part of the ledge they previously overlooked; one of the grunts fell while the others dashed behind cover further down the corridor. The last scrambled to join them, somewhat disorientated by the blast but well enough to run.

The sound of engines hummed above their heads as a new aircraft started its descent into the hangar. Its design was similar to the armor composition of the mercenaries' foes; it was easily four times the size of Suki's bike. A turret on the vessel's belly pivoted and started to fire in her direction. Meanwhile one of its side doors opened and two figures emerged from within. The first, larger one dropped with a crash to the new floor of the hangar, where Jesse, Brink and Riagan resided. The other, smaller one leapt onto the ledge and wound behind the corner the grunts hid in.

The cyborg was unable to see the thing that joined them but was able to hear it just fine. Icons in his helmet designated a shape beyond the smoke, processing and displaying its heat signature a second later. He stood and took a step back while simply saying. "Cowbell." He turned to his left and started moving away from the other two, his cloaking device rendering him invisible.
Brink Akanah (played by BreezyDawn)

Brink had fired off another shot in the ensuing mayhem, just before Jesse's shield went up around her and the smoke filled her vision, rendering her bow momentarily useless. In her mind's eye she saw her ship, and her head was flooded with Miko's feelings of confusion and worry over her safety. The little creature had kept itself well hidden in her cockpit as she'd instructed, but he was growing ever more antsy, his black tufted wings ruffling in frustration. Mentally she soothed him with a flick of her thoughts, assuring him she'd be on her way soon.

After Suki sped out on her bike, and as the new enemy approached, Brink turned to glance at Riagan just as the Cyborg muttered his warning and vanished. Cursing softly under her breath, Bink remembered the bit of info that had been shared on this particular breed, and it didn't bode well. Unable to herself become invisible, Brink sighed and glanced quickly to Jesse. "Just us now I guess. If we can get to my ship we might have a chance." Her words were clipped, but resigned, her pale blues showing little fear. With that, she dove out of the shield and behind stray cover, keeping her bow at the ready and trying to move toward her ship as well as use any cover the wreckage in the hangar might provide. Perhaps the fire Sukie was laying down would distract the newcomers long enough for them to get in her ship.
Jesse Abrams (played by TheTwilightWarrior)

"About time, amigo!" Jesse shouted as he heard the rumble of the hoverbike's engines. Once she commanded them to stand clear, he did almost immediately, having sensed her desire to unleash hell upon those hapless bastards. And just then, the bubble shield collapsed from the increased attrition; just after Suki managed to go airborne. They were lucky that time it seemed, especially with that object having inched in on them so suddenly. Whatever that smoke was, there was no chance of him lingering too long in it.

Once there was silence amongst the hangar, no gunfire or anything, he laughed. Like manna from heaven! They had survived! Well, still a bit of a shame for him. His jovial expression soon ceased upon hearing of the incoming vessel. He sighed, rolling his eyes. He emptied the last of the empty IMP cartridges from his peacemaker and fitted only five shots this time. Something at the back of his mind told him he needn't fight any longer for now at least. "Cowbell..." he heard the cyborg mutter. It was time to cut and run.

Jesse's attention moved to Brink. There wasn't much he could do alone and to hear her offer made him thankful. He snickered and holstered his peacemaker. "Ah ain't gonna disagree." And just then, he followed after her. But then he halted in his tracks, looking back at what was left of his room. "Hold up, ah need teh get somethin'." He dashed to his room not far from them and unlocked a safe which had remained untouched through the fall. Opening it, it revealed a double-barreled six-gauge shotgun with an extensive shell belt with all kinds of colourful cartridges. He smiled and took what he could, attaching the belt on his waist adjacent to his peacemaker and the shotgun itself. There wasn't a lot of shells to last an entire planet, that was for sure, but it'd do for a prolonged skirmish. "Aight! Ah'm comin'!"
Brink Akanah (played by BreezyDawn)

Brink had kept hunkered behind debris for as long as she could, waiting for the space cowboy to rejoin her, and wondering where the invisible cyborg had gotten to. The incoming enemy had been drawing much to close for comfort. Miko's voice in her head was becoming increasingly loud and she winced at the small creature's latest warning, knowing the Cowbell was heading further into the hangar, it's weapons no doubt at the ready, Brink poked her head out just enough to glance toward the dangerous creatures, noting Jesse's return as she did so. She gave him a raised eyebrow, wondering what had been so important. Her glance, however, slid off him almost as quickly as it had focused there as she looked to her ship.

The Argonaut was just across a wide open space, with very little cover in between. There would probably be plenty of time for the enemy to fire of at least one shot while they ran. But there were distractions, Suki and her vehicle being one. "Ready?" She asked Jesse with a flashed grin, then suddenly stepped out, rising fluidly at the same time and lifting her bow, bomb arrow already notched, string taut. Centering her gaze just beyond the Cowbell, Brink fired, the bolt whizzing to land just behind the enemy, this one blinking a few times before exploding with a quick yet powerful burst. Even as she let fly the arrrow, Brink sprinted toward her ship, hoping Jesse had indeed been ready.

If nothing prevented it, her added distraction hopefully adding them, the two would reach her ship and squeeze into the cockpit, a squirming ball of Miko clambering immediately to chitter on her shoulder, both in her mind, and aloud.

Twisting she gave a slightly concerned glance toward Jesse, both to see if the cowboy had made it, and also to mutter, "Should we wait for the cyborg? Looks like the other woman has her own ride." They didn't really have time to wait, but heck, why not? One hand reached up to wiggle a finger under Miko's chin as she fixed her gaze with fierce determination and a slight nerves on the hatchway, ready to close it quickly.

The bulky figure of the alien lingered an extra second where it landed, the machinery surrounding its arms and back clattering as metal plates alternated and interlocked. The thing lifted its head once the noise came to an end, just in time to spot Jesse while he fled back towards his ruined dwelling. It turned in his direction; a mounted turret on its back twisted to aim and spray a barrage of incendiary rounds in his direction, just as he had gotten his things. While a dozen rounds seared holes in the room the rest of the Cowbell's assault was cut off by an explosion directly behind it.

The thing's hind legs lifted off of the ground from the force of the explosion but its front limbs held fast and it scrambled to face the desolation. A cloud of dust joined the smoke in the air but the being didn't seem inhibited by it, 'looking' toward Brink as she slid into the Argonaut's cockpit. The turret locked on the vessel and managed to fire a single shot before puffing smoke and exploding. The figure, armored as it was, remained unharmed but smashed the ground with rage at its weapon's failure. An instant later and the monstrous Farrovii was frozen in place, one of its armored fists still held in the air.

Debris rattled under the force of invisible feet approaching Brink's ship; the cyborg appeared a few feet from the cockpit, after Jesse. "You've got ten seconds." He warned. "Maybe less." With that he tried to climb aboard.

Meanwhile the larger vessel lowered itself further into the hangar until it was level with the ledge the Farrovii grunts attacked from, potentially shielding them from further attack. The four of them rushed into it and, barring interruptions, it tried to ascend once more.
Jesse Abrams (played by TheTwilightWarrior)

After Jesse had picked up his shotgun, he felt the inch back in his head as a volley of incendiary rounds came his way. Bolting up, he barely even aimed; he fired both barrels of his shotgun, the buckshot spreading at such a large radius, encompassing the rounds, shielding him from any danger; it was loud as thunder. Albeit, small bits of the shrapnel managed to bypass his buckshot, causing some of the walls of his once-residence to burn behind him. He had made his way to Brink soon after.

That Cowbell thing made his stomach turn. "You're one ugly sumbitch..." He thought to himself. Who knew what other horrors lurked on this backwater planet? Steeling himself, he dashed to Brink's flank and reloaded, both shells ejecting from the barrels before loaded with another pair.

"All ready! Let's tail!" He said with little regard to Riagan, whom he assumed would find his way just fine. And just like that, he climbed into the cockpit with her, hanging the shotgun over his shoulder. His attention diverted to Riagan who just appeared like a ghost in thin air. 10 seconds... Well, he wasn't intending on waiting for long. He at least hoped there'd be enough room for the three of them. "Alright, brother! Get in while there's still time!"
Brink Akanah (played by BreezyDawn)

Squeezing as closely to the side of the ship as she could, Brink made room for the two figures that climbed in after her, but the space was still a tight fit, and shoulders would most likely rub. Muttering under her breath for the ship to hold together, she felt the Argonaut rock as a single blast from the Cowbell scored a hit along the back flank. More warning lights. "Star's breath!" She exclaimed in a rush and reached forward to close the hatch. Mentally commanding Miko to watch her flank, the creatures vision sent images to her, which she only partial paid attention to. Brink initiated flight sequence and the engines rushed, coughing a few times as if hitching up trousers in preparation for beating a hasty retreat - which is exactly what she planned to do.

Without sparing a further glance for any of the others still within the hangar, Brink urged her ship toward the hangar's exit, hoping that the ship that somewhat blocked the entrance wouldn't target them in time, her ships shields offering little defense now. Turning the ship, she angled it so that it would hopefully squeeze through the space left at the top of the hangar, just passing the larger enemy ship. As they did so, Brink would note the Farrovii re-boarding their ship. Time to find that rendezvous...

The cyborg found room in the cockpit with the other two easily and started to scan his surroundings as the hatch drew closed. He didn't think he had much to fear from the other two mercenaries but the enclosed space ill suited him. Beneath his helmet the man's eyes squeezed shut and he paced his breathing, more to avoid the others noticing his stress than anything else. At least he could rely on his mask remaining featureless, seemingly staring in the direction of the alien on the ground.

Their lift off was uninterrupted; rays of sunlight fell upon the mercenaries' vehicles as the shuttle lifted from the belly of the ship and departed, as surely as the one before it. As it crested over the ceiling of the ruin a loud crack reverberated into the hollow, followed by the loud whir of an aircraft in sharp descent and a roaring explosion as it met its end against the cold mountain.

If Brink and Suki were bold enough to follow the shuttle out they'd be greeted with the sight of a vast horizon; rock, moss, grass and snow dotting the landscape around the fallen Pyrrhus and proving a stark contrast with the ruins of countless shuttles. Though from that distance most would be indistinguishable some were close enough to study-- showing that the fallen vehicles were casualties of both sides. Newest to the ruin was the Farrovii shuttle that had just departed. Its nemesis soared above the battle cruiser, passing far above the hollow as it turned around. As it completed this it flew towards the northwest, slowing down and beginning to descend along the belly of the Pyrrhus. If uninterrupted it would land near the location of another break in the massive ship's hull. Further up in the chilly atmosphere the fight continued between scores of Farrovii fighters and a steadily diminishing count of spacecraft brought by the mercenaries.
Bianca Alvey (played anonymously)

The newly arrived shuttle came to stop near a large hull breach. Before the landing struts had deployed, six small figures leaped from the side bay doors several feet above ground. Even accounting for distance many of the figures looked too small to be combat capable mercenaries, nor did half of them appear armed. Just as the shuttle touched down, a much larger figure appeared from inside. If the previous jumpers had seemed too small, this last one seemed too big. In fact it was the exact opposite. It also was clearly armed with some type of long barreled weapon.

As the smaller figures began to drop through the breach into the ship the larger figure turned towards Brink's shuttle,
appearing to rapidly flash a red signal light in an attempt to send a message. If anyone inside could understand the signal, it was a simple repeat of the words "Regroup. Northwest. Regroup."It would continue to send the message for several seconds before making an exaggerated arm wave. Even without working comms it seemed that the figure was attempting to regroup and rally survivors.
