Like you see on your cellphone. A way to know if your message has been read but not yet replied too. It would also help by letting you know the other person is one without worrying if they were anon or not. Or at least paying attention to something you posted. It wouldn't even need to be large. Maybe a little check mark by the rp title. Or the word read.
Nah I rather people not stalking my every move.
With some people that have issues with ghosting and dropping RPs, this sounds like a recipe for even more drama that surrounds those aspects. Sad to say.
I often read messages but am unable to respond at that moment and get to it later. The last thing I'd want is for people to harass me because I read a PM but haven't responded for a few hours.
I agree with the majority; I was actually just thinking recently on how glad I am that this is not an option here on RPR. Many times I have just a moment to check my messages on my cellphone, so I'll look at a post and that way I can get ideas for when I can respond. But, I can't type out an entire post on mobile at that moment. I've already had RPs with people messaging me if I haven't posted in a day or two, so I'd definitely not want the 'read' notification because then they'd be messaging me even more!
I agree with the others, while this works for instances such as social media, for a site like this it would be a recipe for disaster and drama!

I'm already half-ways on the bench with the news-feed showing people where I've been active, lol. I tend to offgas in OOC areas (if my deluge of OOC chatter wasn't already an indication) so I imagine that friends are constantly assaulted with 'Dray wrote 10000000 things!' in their feeds... if I have a thread with someone either I'm going to have to seriously cut back on OOC chatter, or risk them getting butt-chapped that I've been idly chatting instead of working hard on a response.
Admittedly I'll probably be cutting back on the OOC chatter once I dip my toes back into RP, but what I'm getting at is that I already feel pressure and I'm not even in any threads yet! The idea of having even more pressure to respond would kill it for me, especially because I've already clearly outlined my boundaries and have had them overstepped here.
Maybe a good alternative would be to have some help article on how to clearly state your boundaries in your profile and in your characters' profiles, and how to read and respect those of the players you come across?

No thank you! I do not need that extra layer of potential drama!
"You read my post 5 days ago, why haven't you responded yet?"
Because I have a life outside this site? Because I need time to think on said post before replying, so it doesn't sound like I wrote it in a rush? ;;-;;
