Roland rolled his eyes. "Actually, it's annoying when the students go gaga over me. All the ones interested in me are the little freshmen who just want some storybook romance." He leaned against the fence. "It's irritating. I'd never date any of them. They're not cute. They're frustrating. Because they don't realize that they are literally flirting with danger." He sighed. "I don't think I'll ever date anyone again. I guess that's where the ego comes from. Just me living out something that'll never happen, through my ego." He shrugged. He was talking rather solemnly, so she knew it wasn't a joke.
Abby got off the fence and stood in front off him. Putting her hands on both of his cheeks, she looked at his eyes seriously. "I know what it feels like to loose someone you love. Someone you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. But you WILL find a girl who will make your whole world turn upside down. You will do anything for this girl. No matter the consequences that come along with your actions. You will protect, love, and adore her. Everything about her even her little quirks. You'll find her quirks cute even. Believe it or not. It will happen someday. And i just hope its soon for you. I hate to see you hurting. I hope its soon." she said quietly since he was close to her. Then she removed her hands from his cheeks, letting him go. Turning, she walked back to the house, not leaving any room for arguement from him.
As she spoke to him and held his face like that, all she would see is sadness in his eyes. He didn't say anything, not because she was leaving, but because he didn't want to. She wanted so desperately for him to be happy like that, but he knew it would never happen. He just stood up off the fence and put his hands in his pockets, following her back to the house in silence. He still hadn't told her everything. There was still so much she didn't know about him.
Abby knew he didnt believe her but she also knew that what she said was true. Because it had happened to her. Walkiing inside, she shut the front door before he could get inside. Giving her the time she needed to get to her room and shut her door locking it as she did so. Her emotions were overwhelming but she knew there was so much she still didnt know. She wanted to know everything though. She wanted to help him with what she could. What she had told him, it had been her feelings that she felt for him even though she didnt know everything. It wouldnt change how she felt. "Stupid..emotions.." she muttered and went to the place she felt comfortable as she sank into her thoughts. Walking over ot the window sill, she climbed onto it and pulled her knees to her chest. Putting her arms on her knees and her head on her arms, sinking into the deep corners of her emotions and thoughts.
Roland was surprised when the door was shut in his face. "Abby?" He opened the door, hearing her bedroom one close. He sighed and stepped inside. Maria asked what happened, and he told her. She groaned and went to knock on Abby's door. "Abby, honey? It's Maria. Can I come in? I have a feeling we need to talk about how stupid boys are." Naturally, Roland had no idea what was going on. He just went to do some work since Abby didn't want him around.
Abby was pulled from her thoughts as Maria knocked on her door. Slipping off the window sill, she unlocked and opened the door looking rather putout. But she knew it wasnt Roland's fault. It was hers for falling for him too quickly. Opening the door to let Maria in, she closed it once she was in and leaned against the door with a heavy sigh.
Maria came inside and sat down on the seat, sighing softly at Abby. "I'm sorry, honey. He's so oblivious to everything, good heavens." She held her arms out for the girl to come and accept the hug if she wanted. "Now, this is no excuse, but I'm going to help explain to you so you don't think he's just a terrible, depressed person. He has a reason for feeling the way he does." She sighed and looked out the window. "Roland told me you were looking at his pictures. So you've seen the ones of him and Crystal, then. She was his girlfriend. His best friend. She was the most important thing in his world. You'd see them, and you'd swear that the whole world revolved around her, with how he treated her. They even lived together for a while. Roland talked a lot about marrying her. But...that was before the accident."
She looked down sadly. "Like any couple, they got in a fight. The fight was about him still being a rebel, still getting into trouble and still getting into fights. It upset her, and she wanted him to stop. I don't know what happened more than that, but words were said and tempers flared. Back then, he was still...volatile. Like I said, he was still a rebel. He didn't have the control he has now. He...changed. His anger triggered the transformation, and...the beast he became killed her." She grew quiet for a few moments. "...He never did forgive himself. After that, he distanced himself from everyone for a while. And when he came back, he was distanced from humans. He didn't let anyone get close. Not until you."
She looked at Abby. "I don't tell you this to make you think 'poor Roland' and just forgive him. I just want you to see why he feels that way. Why he never wants a relationship again. He's scared. He's so scared he'll kill someone else. He knows he's part man, and that part has such good control. But he knows he's part beast as well. Feral. And because of that, he won't let himself be happy like that." She rubbed at her eyes. After all, it was her brother she was talking about. "I want just as much as you do, for him to be happy. I wish for it all the time. That's why I was so glad when he asked if you could stay. He's different around you, Abby. For the first time in such a long time, he's happy around a human."

Abby did accept the hug Maria offered and she listened quietly to what had happened. She was silent for a few moments before she pulled away. "Maria...im falling too fast for him. I swear im not trying to push him to get over Crystal. I just want to see him..happy again. It doesnt even have to be with me. I just want him to be happy again," she said quietly. "I know i still dont know him all that well but..i have to keep trying to get him to see that he wont hurt anyone like that again," she added and looked at the floor with a sigh.
Maria smiled softly. "I know, dear. I know. I just wish you good luck, Abby. I wanted you to know what you were up against. It's hard to beat a dead girl. He fretted so much over when he simply grabbed your wrist a little rough on the first day he met you, you know. He's so scared of hurting you. He tries so hard to protect you, to keep you safe and keep you happy. He's scared that he might hurt you instead. That would devastate him." She took Abby's hands and held them gently. "Crystal's death was the turning point I told you about. He stopped his rebel ways immediately. He became a different person. I don't want another girl's death to make him a different person again. So please, just be careful, alright?"
Abby nodded and smiled a little bit. "I promise i will. I just need to try," she said quietly. Hetting up, she walked over to the bedroom door and opened it. "So how about something less depressing? Say diiner?" she asked with a smile and walked towards the kitchen. "But i call cooking tonight just tell Roland it will be ready in like thirty minutes," she said to Maria as she entered the kitchen. Grabbing all the stuff she needed, she started chopping up a bunch of stuff and tossing it into a pot along with some ground beef and broth. Letting it simmer for a while, the delicious smell filled the house. Then once it was done, she put a few herbs in it and stirred for a few minutes before she was satisfied. It was ready in exactly thirty minutes as she had said. Beef stew.
Maria smiled at her. "Alright. Sounds like a good plan, Abby!" She went to deliver the message, then just went about cleaning up the house. Abby hadn't witnessed it much since she was in her room most of the time, but Maria's house was well-trafficked with other werewolf kin coming in and out, especially the kids.
Maria and Roland came to dinner a half hour later, Roland smiling as he saw the food. "I've been smelling it for a while, it was torture. You made this, Abby? It looks great!"

Abby beamed as he compliemented her. "Thanks," she said happily then she took out bowls for Roland, Maria, and herself letting them get some first before she did. Finally sitting at the table with Mari and Roland. Slowly, she started eating after letting it cool off. Finishing quickly, she waited till Maria and Roland were done then she took their empty bowls. Washing them then putting them up before her phone started buzzing. "Hello?" she said in a happy mood then suddenly it crashed. "Y-Your home early..I-I went to stay at a friends...but..n-no!...Okay okay..i'll be home...by-" she was cut off as her dad hung up. Biting her lip, tears brimmed her eyes and she was glad she was turned away from Maria and Roland as she wiped away the tears. Choking down the crying feeling before she turned and quickly ran from the kitchen. Going into her room, she threw her stuff in her bag and paused as she leaned on the bed, gripping the covers tightly. Her father ruined everything. He had seemed more than upset. More than pissed. It never ended well for her when he was this bad especially when it was her who caused it.
Roland enjoyed the meal, but when she left the room, he was there in a moment. His thick, warm arms wrapped around her and held her close against him. "You're not going." He leaned his head against hers gently. "You're staying here. You can't go, remember? The other pack will kill you. I'll go talk to your dad. I promise I won't get into a fight...not unless you give me permission." He pulled back a little, looking at her hopefully. "I'd only break one bone. Maybe two. And give him a black eye. But that's it, really." He sighed. "But it's okay if you don't want me to. I'll just tell him you're not coming back." He smiled and kissed her head gently. "You don't ever have to go back to them, Abby. It's alright. Just stay here. Stay with us." He let go of her and stepped back, calling Maria up. He murmured quietly to her, and she nodded, then he left quickly. Maria smiled gently. "Honey, it's going to be okay. I promise. Your daddy's not ever gonna hurt you again."
Abby choked down a sob as Roland held her against his body. Though silent tears escaped her this time as her fear and emotions welled up. She took comfort in Roland's presence though and leaned into his hold, closing her eyes lightly as he kissed her head and told her to stay there. Wiping the tears away roughly, she nodded and almost gave him permission to get in a fight with her father but she didnt want to turn into him. So she didnt and simply took comfort in Roland's presence. When he left, she sat on her bed and put her head in her hands and her elbows on her knees. Nodding as Maria said she wouldnt have to worry about her dad ever again. She trusted Maria's words and set her bag down on the floor. "Thank you....for allowing me to stay.." She murmured and rubbed her eyes in an exhausted way but she refused to sleep till she knew Roland was back safely.
Maria sat down beside her and hugged her, holding her gently and rubbing her back comfortingly. "It's okay, sweetie. We're happy to have you here. So don't you worry about a thing, okay?" She kissed Abby's head as well. "After all, your dad can't stand a chance against a full pack of werewolves, now can he?" She giggled softly. "So don't worry about him coming here or anything. I bet you that Roland's gonna sleep outside your door every night now. And we've got your window secured after the incident with Colt sneaking in. So you're safe here, I promise."
Maria stayed with Abby until Roland got back, which was around two hours later. He had his arms full of things, which he set down in her room. "Here's the rest of your stuff. I got it while I was there. Figured I might as well." He smiled at her. "Welcome to your new home, Abby." He walked over and hugged her close. "Your dad needed some talking to. I gave him an earful, that's for sure. But I didn't hit him or anything, I promise. And I got him to let you stay with me."

Abby listened to Maria and was comforted by her words. She was almost asleep by time Roland came back and she hugged him back tightly as he hugged her. "Thank you," she whispered in his ear and put her head on his shoulder. Gripping his shirt a little tightly as she choked down the crieing feeling again but she just felt so relieved about it all. She didnt have to worry. It felt great and her whole body relaxed at the thought of not worrying. Not noticing she was still holding onto Roland and slowly falling asleep as her thoughts ran through her head. Breathing in Roland's comforting and safe scent.
Roland smiled gently and picked her up in his arms, cradling her close. Maria quietly left the room, and Roland laid Abby down on her bed. Then he laid down beside her, not wanting to pry her fingers from his shirt. She needed the comfort, the presence of safety. He held her gently against him and rubbed her back while she started falling asleep, closing his eyes. "It's okay, Abby..." he whispered. "He'll never hurt you again. Never again. I promise."
Abby put her head on his chest as he picked her up and her grip remained on his shirt. A slight blush raging across her cheeks as he laid down next to her and continued to hold her. Burying her head in his chest as he promised her father wouldnt hurt her anymore. She slowly fell into a deep sleep and one of the best she ever had not containing nightmares.
Abby relaxed completely in his hold and her breathing evened out as well as deepened. Showing Roland she was asleep.

Roland stayed awake for a while longer. There was so much inner turmoil raging within him. This couldn't be happening. It wasn't real. It couldn't be happening. He was just worried about her safety, that's all it was. He sighed softly and kept his eyes closed. Even he knew he was lying to himself. After a while of her being asleep, his fingers moved away from her back and lightly traced along her face. He pulled his fingers away soon, scolding himself mentally over and over. Then he took in a few deep breaths and calmed his mind so that he could fall asleep as well. (gotta go to sleep now I'll post more tomorrow!)
Abby stayed asleep through it all though she subconciously leaned into his fingers as he traced along her face. The next day would be a school day and she couldnt go. She was tired enough to sleep through the early morning, making Roland have to move away from her if he went that day. (Alright night:) )
