Roland chuckled, walking over and sitting down beside her. He rolled his eyes with a smirk as she told Maria, who laughed lightly. "Oh did he? Congratulations! Looks like Roland finally remembered proper human etiquette, hm?" Roland stuck his tongue out at her, and the woman stuck her tongue out back at him. The two then laughed, and the house just seemed to be filled with happiness. Roland put his arm around Abby and pulled her against him, kissing her head.

Abby smiled and laughed at both of their childishness. Leaning into Roland as he pulled her to him and kissed her head. Then she groaned softly and pushed her bangs away from her forehead. "I have to go to school tommorow dont i?" she asked an looked up at Roland.

Roland chuckled and nodded. "Yes. You do." He grew serious for a moment, sighing. "Also, we have to act differently at school. No one can know that we're dating right now, okay? I'm very serious. If we were found to be dating, we'd both get in big trouble. I could even lose my job. So we have to act like a normal student and teacher, okay?"

Abby smiled and poked his forehead playfully. "I know that silly. I wouldnt put your job in danger because of this," she replied with a soft smile then she shrugged. "Besides its only a month and three days till graduation. So it wont be long," she said happily. Placing a light kiss on his cheek before getting up from the couch. "Im gonna go take a shower. See you at dinner?" She asked and waited there for a minute so he could answer.

Roland smiled. "Good." The smile grew as the kiss touched his cheek, and when she waited for him to answer he snagged her gently by the wrist and pulled her down for a sweet meeting of their lips. Then, after a moment, he let her go and smirked. "Good. You stink. I'll see you at dinner." He winked at her, then got up and went outside before she could retaliate to his teasing.

Abby smiled as she was pulled down into a kiss, kissing him back gently before he let her go. When he teased her however, she rolled her eyes and smirked when she was about to say something he had left. Looking at Maria, she was still smirking. "I'll just tell him at dinner," she said with a shrug and left the living room. Going to her room she took a shower then pulled on a pair of long pj pants with colorful bubbles on them. Then pulled on a red tank top, leaving her hair to air dry as she left her room. Going straight to the kitchen, she sat at the kitchen table.

Roland came to the table soon, smiling at Abby. "Hey, Abby. Squeaky clean now?" He sat down and looked around, checking to make sure Maria didn't need any help. Everything was pretty much taken care of, so she didn't need any help at all. Once Maria sat down, they could eat.

Abby smiled as Roland sat down, having her hand on her cheek with her elbow on the table. "Well i dont know about squeaky but i am clean," she replied with a smile and soft laugh. Once Maria sat down, Abby waited a few moments for her to get situated before she started eating. "Maria this is wonderful," she complimented happily.

Roland chuckled and smiled at her, then started eating. Maria was quite happy that they liked the food. "Good, I'm glad! I always try my best." The three of them ate peacefully, and things were going quite well until one of the werewolves burst into the room. "Alpha!" he said, panting softly from having been running. Roland put down his fork and stood up. "What is it?"

The boy fidgeted nervously, but answered right away. "You've been challenged." Maria stopped eating and stared. Roland took in a deep breath, then let it out and nodded. "Where?" "The clearing in the West forest." "I'll be there." The boy nodded and left quickly. Roland simply left the table and went up to his room to get ready. Maria sighed. "Well, so much for a nice dinner..." She got up and cleared Roland's place.

Abby smiled and started eating, jumping when i boy burst through yelling for Roland. Setting down her fork, she listened carefully then got up as Maria started cleaning off Roland's plate. "Im going," she said to Maria and didnt give her a chance to say anything before she left the kitchen. Going into her room, she slipped on her black converse and caught Roland before he left the room. "I want to go," she said, looking up at Roland pleadingly.

Roland didn't even hesitate in his answer. "No." He walked past her, going to Maria to speak with her. "I know it's hard, but try to keep her here." He kissed Maria on the cheek, then turned to Abby. "You're staying here, Abby. You're not ready for this yet." He walked right out the door and Maria sighed. "Be careful, Roland." His response was simple; "Careful gets you killed."

Maria bit her lip and fretted over the dishes. "He used to say that...back when he was getting in fights all the time. Oh...I hate challenges..."

Abby crossed her arms over her chest and growled quietly under her breath. Going into her room, she slammed the door shut already coming up with a plan. Silently opening her door, she went further into the house. Once she found the boy she was looking for, he was at least her age or a little older. Grabbing his shirt, she slammed him looking into the wall looking rather pissed. "Take me to where Roland went. Now," she growled quietly ready to get in a fight with him if he didnt wether he was werewolf or not.

The boy stared in surprise as he was slammed against the wall. He nodded quickly at her request and hurried her out the door. Little did she know, but the violence wasn't necessary. She was the alpha's mate, so her words held just as much weight as his did. The boy led her through the forest, finally coming upon a circle of people. Obviously people from the clan. "Whenever someone in the pack thinks the alpha is not worthy of being an alpha anymore, they challenge him. Then there's a fight. Whoever wins is the alpha." he explained. He pushed through the circle so that they could see.

Roland was in the middle of the opening, with another man nearby. Roland was in little more than boxers, as was the other man. They stood, solemnly staring each other down.

Abby followed him closely and wasnt fazed by all the weres around her. She just wanted to see Roland win and beat the other guys butt. Nodding as he explained how it worked, she looked between Roland and the other were. "Do they fight in wolf form?" She asked as she watched. The other man wouldnt be a match for Roland, she knew that for sure. Or she believed that with everything she had.

Nodding at the other were, she asked the boy if he knew him.

The boy nodded. "They do. The word will be given soon to change forms, and as soon as the word is given, the fight starts." When she asked about the other werewolf, he nodded. "Trevor. He's part of the pack. He's strong, and very smart. He used to be the alpha's best friend. But then the alpha started dating that human girl. Not you, the one before. Crystal. Trevor took that as betrayal. The two of them haven't talked since, except for necessary pack-involved things. Now that the alpha's not only dating you, but marked you as his mate, Trevor thinks he's not fit to be the alpha. So he challenged him."

Abby nodded and watched the two men but mainly Roland. She kept herself hidden from view though so he wouldnt know. "Im not supposed to be here so do me a huge favor. Give me a ride back in your wolf form," she said to the boy and was really asking not demanding. After a moment, she looked at the boy. "Be honest. Do you think Roland is fit to be alpha?" She asked, putting her hands in her pockets.

The boy looked at her. "Um..okay." When that question was asked, he looked back to Roland. "Well...a lot of the pack think he's gone soft, since he's marked you. But I still believe in him. I don't know what he sees in you, you're just human. But if he'd risk his spot as alpha, then it means he really trusts in what he's doing. And if he trusts in what he's doing, then I do too." Before the boy could change forms himself, the word was given and there was the sound of shredding clothing. The fight had started.

Roland and Trevor transformed immediately, the sound of ripping clothing and cracking bone accompanying the change. As soon as they were in wolf forms, the two attacked with vicious growls. The boy watched for a few moments, entranced, then quickly stepped back. "You wanted to go back to the house, right?" He wanted to get her back quickly so he could watch the fight.

Abby looked quickly back at the two as she heard shredding cloth and snapping bones. Watching as the two clashed together hard and started snapping at each other. Shaking her head no as the boy asked her if she wanted to get back. She was absorbed in the fighting, desperately rooting for Roland in her head. "After the fight take me back as quick as you can. Afterwards," she said making it clear she wanted to watch. Wincing every now and then as she saw Trevor snap his strong jaws at Roland.

Roland seemed to be having more trouble than Abby would expect. After all, she'd never seen him in a fight that he didn't win. But Trevor and Roland seemed rather equally matched, both getting strong blows and hard bites in. There was no cheering from the watching pack. Everyone was silent. The two furry bodies thumped and thudded together, tangling up and rolling on the ground with snapping jaws and slicing claws. Blood was drawn in the first few moments of the fight, and from then on it was just more and more.

The boy standing beside her seemed tense. "It's getting rough." he whispered to her. "They're both trying to go for vital areas now. A leg..the neck. Something to weaken the opponent for the final blow." Trevor's jaw clamped on Roland's front leg and a sickening crunch was heard, along with a howl of pain from Roland. But then his other paw swung up and slammed into Trevor's maw, forcing him to let go and stumble back. A collective, single gasp was taken in. Roland's front leg was broken.
"...the final blow." the bow whispered with horror. Trevor shook himself off and charged at Roland. Then something amazing happened. Roland changed back into human form and dropped down onto his back. Trevor, still wolf form, jumped onto him, but Roland used his legs to slam against Trevor's underbelly and use the momentum to throw him over Roland and go slamming into the ground behind him. Then, before anyone could even get a hold of what was happening, Roland was back in his wolf form and had his jaws around Trevor's neck. There should have been a snap. There should have been some kind of crunch. But instead, Roland let go and limped back a few feet. One of the older members of the pack stepped forward. "The fight is finished! Roland is still alpha!" Cheers went up, especially from the boy beside Abby. But then he quickly grabbed her hand and started running through the forest. "Come on, let's get you home!"
