Roland opened his mouth to speak, but then the door slammed in his face. He frowned, and that frown stayed as she opened the door. "Ms. Abby, you left your backpack at the school. It's my duty as a teacher to bring it to you." He handed it over to her.
After a few moments, he looked her in the eye. "Just let it go, Ms. Abby. It never happened." he said, calmly, gently. "Don't worry about it." He patted her shoulder, then turned and headed back to his car. This was complicated. He wouldn't be surprised if she skipped school tomorrow, so he added a parting word. "If you still wanna see the tat, you better be at school tomorrow. I'm going to go over some information that will be on the test!"

Abby shrugged off his hand when he tried to pat her shoulder. Then she watched him leave, feeling a slight tinge of loneliness as he did. Its not that she cared if her parents were there but it did get quiet and creepy around the house when they werent. Stepping out onto the porch, she put her hands in her pocket. "Mr. Lyall! Can..you stay for a little longer?" She asked a little hesitantly.
Abby couldnt really believe she had asked the man she didnt want to be around to stay. But she didnt like being alone all that often and then she always felt like she was being watched. So it would be nice to have a bit of company while her parents are away.

Roland paused, hesitating a moment before turning around. He checked his watch. "I got some time. Let me show you around the town a bit." He gestured for her to come to him. He wasn't going to stay in her house; obviously her parents were gone, and it was completely inappropriate for him to be with his female student alone together in her house. Besides, after that kiss, he didn't feel like it was such a good idea anyways. Somewhere public was good. And since she was new, he could show her some sights of the town.
Abby nodded then motioned for him to give her one minute. Going back inside, she ran upstairs and grabbed her cell phone before putting it in her pocket. Then she rushed back downstairs and out the front door. Shutting the door behind her, she walked over to his car and got in. Sitting in the passenger side, she waited for him and kicked off her shoes. Propping her feet up on the dashboard of his car.
Roland got into his car and started it up, driving off. He lifted a brow as she propped her feet up on his dash. "Aren't you supposed to be not-trusting of teachers, Ms. Abby? Because you seem rather trusting and comfortable to me." He drove around, pointing out various places as he drove her through town. Telling her where was good to be at, where wasn't good to be at, etcetera. "Also, you should stay away from the woods. Generally the animals don't hurt you if you stay out of their homeland, but they don't take kindly to people going into the woods because they think it's a hunter."
Abby smirked as she looked at Roland. "I dont usually Mr. Lyall. But you dont seem like the type," she said as she looked out the window. Looking at all the places he pointed out, she laughed as he told her not to go in the woods. "Yes Mr. Lyall, because my house is not surrounded by woods," she said sarcastically. Looking back out the window, she put her head back on the seat and zoned out. So far her life had no action and she was abused by everyone. Yet Mr. Lyall was different, he didnt try to hurt her and he didnt mind being around her.
Abby sighed and squeezed her eyes shut then rubbed her forehead trying to clear her thoughts.

Roland chuckled. "I'm not your typical teacher, Ms. Abby. I like to think I'm a little more exciting." He rolled his eyes as she mentioned her house. "Just don't go deep in, okay? Around your house is fine, but you could get lost or hurt if you go in further, and you know that." He continued pointing places out to her, and soon stopped. "Are you hungry? We can grab a bite to eat."
Abby laughed softly then shook her head no. "I hate to decline Mr. Lyall but i dont think it would bide well for either of us if someone from school saw us eating together," she said with an eye roll. Her stomach growled as she said that and an embrassed blush flamed across her cheeks. She smiled a bit and looked at Roland. "Well i guess my tummy disagrees with that statement," she joked.
Roland chuckled. "Ms. Abby, I am always professional with my students, and everyone in the school and in town knows it. I've taken students out to eat before, there's nothing wrong with it. Especially if that student is new in the area, like you are." He smirked as her stomach grumbled. "Good. I know the perfect place." He pulled up to a neat little old-fashioned diner, then got out of the car. "There's practically everything on the menu here, and it's all cooked really well. This place has been around for ages, so it knows how to run."
Abby rolled her eyes as he smirked then tied her shoes back on as they came to a stop. Getting out of the car, she followed him inside and sat down where he sat. Her eyes roamed over the menu as a lovely woman close to Roland's age came up to the table. "Im Steffie and i will be your server. What would you like to drink?" she asked in a happy voice. Abby thought for a moment then decided. "Coke please," she said as she went back to skimming the menu for food choices.
Steffie's eyes lit up as she saw Roland and she got a little flirty. Abby simply rolled her eyes as she saw Steffie get that certain "gotta gave him" look in her eyes. As Steffie wrote down what he wanted, Abby chose her meal. "Alright i will be right back with you drink--er--drinks," she said, correcting herself as she remembered Abby was there. Then Steffie turned and left to go get the drinks. Abby just laughed softly. "Wow. She made that really obvious.." she murmured and shook her head.

Roland smiled at the waitress. "I'll have Mountain Dew, thank you." He looked over to Abby as she mumbled and he snickered softly. "Shhh, don't discourage her. It doesn't hurt a guy to get an ego-boost every once in a while, hm?" He winked.
He looked through the menu, then nodded to himself once he decided what he was getting. He leaned back in his seat. "Besides the waitress, what do you think of this place so far?"

Abby cocked an brow at Roland then rolled her eyes. "Thats the last thing you need Mr. Lyall is an ego-boost," she replied and smirked at her comeback. Abby put her menu down and looked at Roland then looked around the diner. "Hmm..small. Cute place. The people here are too..happy though..its like theyre hyped up on sugar or somethin," she commented and watched as Steffie came back.
Steffie sat down theyre drinks and put on an excited smile. "Have you decided?" she asked cheerily. Abby smiled a little and looked at her. "Yep. I'll have a hamburger with fries," she ordered then handed Steffie her menu. When she turned to Roland and twirled a lock of hair around her finger, Abby had cover her mouth in order not to laugh.

Roland gave Abby a 'watch this' look, then faced the waitress. "Yes, I'll have the steak, with some potatoes on the side. Thanks." He gave a charming smile and a little wink, handing the menu to the girl. He leaned back in his seat once the waitress was gone and grinned at Abby. "If I'm lucky, I won't have to pay tip. I can probably charm her into accepting a kiss on the cheek as a tip, with the rate she's flirting." He snickered.
Steffie literally almost fainted as he gave her a charming smile and wink. A small blush rising to her cheeks and a giggle escaping her lips as she took his menu and left. Abby rolled her eyes and she leaned back into her chair, crossing one leg over the other. "Yea im sure if she wouldnt loose her job, she wouldnt make you pay if you just gave her a kiss," she scoffed and looked away. A slight jealous feeling came upon her but she stifled it and took a sip of her drink. "I dont think i'll be in school tommorow," she said suddenly but not looking at Roland.
Roland chuckled, but when she talked about not being in school tomorrow. "What? Why not?" He frowned, his 'business' part, the teacher part of him, coming out. "Absolutely not, Ms. Abby. You just started, you need to be in school. Especially since you don't even have that much time left, you have to be at all the classes you can."
He leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest, waiting for her argument.

Abby looked at Roland and cocked an eyebrow. "Well its my personal business Mr. Lyall. I wont be there tommorow. End of story," she replied and sat up as she saw their food coming to the table. Steffie set the food down and smiled at Roland in a flirty way.
Abby simply rolled her eyes and scoffed out loud this time, earning a glare from Steffie. Then she turned and left, leaving Abby behind with a huge grin on her face. She had been waiting for that and now everything seemed to be where it should be. She was getting on Roland's nerves and she had just upset Steffie.

Roland was not satisfied with the answer. "Well then, expect me at your door tomorrow to drag you out and bring you to school." He nodded to the waitress as she gave him his food, and then he started eating. He spoke casually. "If you think I'm joking, you really don't know much about me."
Abby looked at him shocked then pissed. "You cant do that!" she whisper/yelled, leaning over the table slightly. She was outraged as he thought that he could just make her do something she didnt want to. Without eating, she stood up and gave him a relcutant, tight smile. "Thank you for dinner but im really not hungry. I will see you later this week," she said as calmly as possiblle before quickly leaving the diner.
Abby shoved her hands in her pockets and stormed off down the sidewalk. She would walk back, she didnt need him trying to help her out. He would certainly have to carry her fighting the whole way to school if he really tried to drag her out of her house. She wasnt going.

Roland didn't even need to get up to stop her from leaving. His hand reached out, snagging her by the wrist again. The grasp was tight, but not enough to hurt her. "I can. I'm your teacher, therefore you are my responsibility. So, if I know that you are planning to skip school ahead of time, I can take whatever preventative measures I want to make sure you're in my classroom." he said calmly. He looked up from his meal. "Don't get yourself in a bunch, Ms. Abby. Sit down and eat. What did you think was going to happen when you tell a teacher you're not going to be at school, hm?" He lifted a brow. "I think, somewhere deep inside, you just said that because you want someone to care. You want someone to stop you. So don't go gettin' in a huff just because I'm doing what's right."
He gestured with his free hand to her plate. "Now come on. The food is really good, you know you're hungry. And before you say you're not, just remember what your stomach did last time you tried to deny it food."

Abby clenched her jaw but sat back down, not wanting to draw attention to them both. Silently, she ate and knowing that he was probably right. After several minutes, she was finished eating and downed her drink quickly. Getting up, she pulled out her phone as it started to vibrate. Walking out of the diner, she answered it.
"Hello?..Oh hey mom..no i got something to eat..i know..how long will you and dad be gone this time?..two weeks?!...no it just th-..mom thats not fair..i do no-..fine. Bye," she finished talking with her mom and flipped her phone shut. Shoving it in her pocket, she debated wether or not to get a ride with Roland or just to walk home. With a sigh, she figured that Roland wouldnt just let her walk home so she just went back inside. "Can we go now?" she asked him, looking rather irritated about something. Steffie had been flirting with Roland but Abby just sorta pushed her outta the way.
