Abby smiled and felt reassured by his promise, leaning into his hug. Softly laughing as he gently nudged her to the house and told her to shoo. Going upstairs, she quickly packed a bag with all the stuff she would need before she heade back downstairs. Stopping by Maria to tell her something quiet enough to not let Terri or Roland hear. "I trust Roland but i dont trust this new girl. Watch her for me, please? And their training. I dont want her making any type of moves on him when im not here to put up a fight for him," she said and smiled a little.

Maria nodded slightly. "I'll keep an eye on her, don't worry. I don't trust her either. She was trouble back then, too." She hugged Abby gently. "He won't be gone too long, sweetie. Don't worry. It'll all be over and everything will be back to normal before you know it." She smiled at her and then shooed her off to the car.

Abby smiled and hugged Maria back before she was, again, being shooed off. But she found it amusing how they kept shooing her places. However, her words about her being trouble just made Abby worry more about all of this. Frowning slightly as she headed for the car, she chewed on the inside of her lip. A bad habit of hers when she got nervous about something. This was definitly a reason to be nervous. Getting in the car, she quietly though about all of this and was half way decided on staying but she didnt want to make it hard on Roland. She just wanted to protect what was hers, like a wolf would. Putting her hand on the Mark, she lightly rubbed it since it was sore now from all her scratching.

Roland waved at her and smiled. "I'll see you soon, I promise!" He ran over to the car to give her a quick kiss, then told her the directions to Kevin's house and let her leave. Kevin and his parents were thrilled to have maria there. His parents were nice. They didn't know Abby, but she was the alpha's mate, so they felt it was an honor that he trusted them with her.

They showed her to the guest bedroom, where she would be staying, and asked her what she wanted to eat for supper. Kevin's little sister Annie followed Abby around like a puppy, looking at her with big wide eyes of wonder.

Life at Kevin's was nice. They made her go to school, but Kevin tagged along for the fun of it and teachers never even noticed. Roland visited two days after she left, saying that training was off to a good start. He wasn't able to spend much time there, but he would play a couple cardgames or something and cuddle Abby. A week passed, with him visiting every other day, until at the end of the week...he didn't visit.

Instead, Maria was knocking on the door fervishly. Kevin opened it and she rushed inside to where Abby was. "Roland's missing." Right behind her came Terri, looking less worried, but still a bit concerned. "He went out last night to train on his own a bit, like usual, but he never came back. We can't find him at all. We're bringing you back to the house, Abby." Maria turned to Kevin's parents. "We'll take Annie with us so you three can go on the search with the others." They nodded and went to get everything ready. The alpha was missing. That was a big deal.

Abby didnt mind being forced to go to school since it was the last week but she did miss seeing Roland there and watching him teach. He always looked so happy when he was teaching and she missed seeing it. But it was mostly made up to her whenever he came to visit. She always enjoyed every second they spent together and only gave him soft, small kiss so that he wouldnt be tempted also so it wouldnt make the training any harder on him.

Abby often played with Annie since she was constantly being followed by her. Careful of her stitches though and stopping when she needed to, though they were healing nicely and soon she could get them removed.

The last day, however, she knew something was wrong. Because her Mark had been pulsing like mad, as if it was trying to search for someone. But Maria just confirmed her fears and she was quick to pack everything of hers and Annie's. She had grown rather attached to Annie and didnt mind having her around. Picking her up as they made their way out, Abby told her they would have so much fun at Roland's house. But secretly, she was waiting till she could put Annie in bed. Then she was going to look for Roland herself.

Maria took them back to the house and stayed with them, though she was constantly getting calls and sending calls, communicating with the pack to see if any of them had found them. Evening came, and there was still no sign of him. She helped put Annie to bed, then she sat down with Abby. "We'll find him, Abby. I promise. It will be okay." She looked at her worriedly. "You have to stay here. I know you probably want to go out, but I can't let you do that. Roland wouldn't want you to. He'd want you to stay here and be safe. Besides, if he does come back on his own, here will be the first place he'll stop. Don't you want to be here to welcome him back?"

Abby looked at Maria and listened but there was determination in her eyes. "Maria, i'll have a better chance than anyone else. My Mark lets me know if hes hurt or near. I will know better than anyone else if he's close. I have to do this. Hes my Mate and i cant just sit around and do absolutely nothing," she said with a slight tinge of desperation in her voice. Getting up, she grabbed her body hugging black coat and put it on before heading for the front door.

Maria grabbed her arm, just as a loud howl pierced the air. "...they found him." Maria tugged Abby back inside gently. "You stay right here. If they found him, they should be bringing him back--" Her cellphone rang and she picked it up. "Hello? What? O-ok. Yes, I'll do it as soon as I hang up." She closed the phone quickly, then flipped it open and dialed only three numbers. "Abby, stay here. You don't want to see it." The person on the other end picked up. "Hello, yes, I have an injured man, we need an ambulance right away." She glanced at Abby, then whispered something else into the phone. Then she gave the address and hung up. "Alright. We need to stay here. You'll see him once he's stable at the hospital, okay? I promise. But you have to trust me. It's his specific wish that you don't see him until he's in the hospital.."

Abby's heart sank and she let herself leaned against a wall for support. He was hurt..Roland was hurt..Sinking to the floor, she put her head in her hands and squeezed her eyes shut. Putting her hands in her hair, she gripped her hair hard and tried to gain control of the rising tide of emotions. Hurt was the most evident but anger swamped her as she vowed to severely injure whoever did this to him. "Why is he hurt?" she asked Maria but kept her voice low, masking her emotions.

Maria sighed. "I don't know. I guess we'll find out when we go see him. Just try to relax. They'll call us as soon as he's ready for visitors." She walked over and sat by Abby. "It's going to be okay, I promise. It will be alright." She smiled softly and rubbed her shoulder. "Just relax...we'll see him soon and everything will be okay." She didn't really believe her own words, though.

Abby got up and swiftly made her way around Maria, rushing upstairs as she felt her emotions getting the better of her. Not wanting to accidently snap at Maria when it wasnt her fault. Going into her room, she slammed the door shut and punched another hole in the wall. This time without sustaining injury. Starting to feel strange as she rolled her shoulders to stop the pain there. Her whole body started to hurt as she felt her bones aching in her body.

Maria got up and went upstairs as she heard the noise of the punching of the wall. "Abby? Are you okay?" She was quite concerned. "Abby, please...just relax. It'll be okay!" She looked at the door and tried the doorknob. "Abby, open the door." She was worried about just what was happening in there.

Abby let out a cry of pain as she felt her bones breaking, sinking to the floor as pain overwhelmed her. Loud snapping and ripping could be heard from her room then after ten or so minutes, everything fell to an eerie silence. Abby blinked open her eyes and shook her head but it felt wierd. Standing up, she frowned as she realized she was shorter than she should be and she was on all fours. Looking down, she yelped in shock as she saw fur. Thick, soft, black fur and paws. But her paws had white fur on them that went halfway up her legs. Turning her head, she saw a bushy, black tail that was wagging slowly. Finally, she crossed her eyes and saw a muzzle with a black wet nose on the end. Rushing to her bathroom, she stood on her hind paws and looked into the mirror in shock.

Abby was a much larger wolf than normal werwolves and her eyes were a deep, knowing blue. A white stripe ran from the fur just bordering her nose all the way up her head, down her back, and to the tip of her tail. All four of her paws were snow white and her left ear was white while the other was black like most of her. Im a...wolf.. she thought as her eyes grew wide. Taking her front paws off the bathroom counter, she realized all her senses were ten times better and she felt like she had all the energy in the world. Stepping back into her room, she walked over to her door and pawed at it since she couldnt open it. The problem was, she didnt know how she changed or how to change back.

Maria had rushed to get the spare key when all the noises were heard. "Abby!!" She opened the door quickly, staring in shock at the wolf that was right there. "W...what?! How...Abby? That is you, isn't it?" She stared. "THat's...that's impossible. Since when does an alpha's mate turn into a werewolf? Though, I suppose we wouldn't know, since not many take a human for a mate..." She sighed and started pacing. "Oh goodness...oh goodness. This is good, but this is bad. You don't know the first thing about being a werewolf! Even I'm not sure how we're supposed to handle this..." She stopped and looked at Abby. "Okay. Abby. I need you to focus. Breathe calmly, breathe deeply, and settle the beat of your heart to a calm rhythm. Then think about being human." She hoped it would work...

Abby jumped back as the door was opened, her tail wagging furiously as Maria asked if it was her, hoping it would tell her that it was. When she started going on and on, Abby gave a small, quick bark that sounded like Maria. Trying to get her to calm down and help her out. Once she gave instructions, Abby did as she was told and winced as she felt her bones breaking then mending again. Panting softly in her human from, she sat there and gave a soft groan. "Ow.." she muttered as she rubbed her shoulders and neck, the ones that hurt the most. Slowly, she stood and quickly grabbed a blanket to wrap up in. "What the hell?! Im a werewolf!" she said in shock but there was also a happy light in her eyes at the excitement and adventure found in this prospect. Then she became serious and looked at Maria. "Dont tell Roland. Hes hurt and he has too much to worry about right now..This will have to be our secret till im sure that Roland is well enough to hear it," she said seriously, her eyes connected with Maria to tell her she was serious.

Maria sighed in relief when it worked. Thank goodness! Maria went to pick out new clothes for her, then looked at her. "Are you okay? And yes, you are. Apparently it's because of the bite...though that's not usual. I'm not sure. We'll have to see if the journal said anything, or if there's any legends about that." She sighed. "Don't tell Roland? Oh goodness, Abby I'm not sure keeping secrets from him is a good idea." She lifted a finger. "But, if you tell him, then I'll stay quiet. I'll let you tell him. I just hope you don't want too long." Just then, the phone rang. Maria scrambled to pick it up, speaking into it for a moment before hanging up. "Get dressed. We can go see him."

Abby nodded as Maria said as long as she told him. "I wont. I just want him feeling better when i do.." she said quietly. Relaxing and rushing around as Maria said they could see him. After she threw on her coat and slipped on her shoes, she grabbed her car keys as well as Maria's hand. Pulling her out of the house and to her car, they both got in. Abby drove like a crazy person to get to the hospital and had majorly scared the living hell out of Maria most of the way there, hitting eighty or ninety while she drove. Skidding into the parking lot and throwing it into park before she was running into the hospital.

Maria reminded Abby, repeatedly, about her car crash, but that didn't make her slow down. When they reached the hospital, Maria kept a firm hold of Abby's hand and kept her from running around. Maria walked in calmly, spoke to the lady at the desk, then went to the room number they were given. She paused at the door and looked at Abby for a long moment, then sighed and opened the door.

Roland was laying down in the bed, looking out the window. When he heard the door open though, he sat up. He had some scrapes, but everything else seemed fine. Until one noticed that one sleeve of his shirt was empty and pinned up. There was an arm missing.

Abby froze halfway into the room as she saw his arm missing, a hurt look coming into her eyes as she saw it. Almost loosing all the strength in her body as she saw it, sorrow sweeping over her and threatened to knock her off her feet. Shaking it off, she walked over to him and looked at his eyes. Putting a gentle hand on his cheek before running her thumb lightly over it. "Roland...what happened to you?" she whispered, her voice cracking as she tried to hold back the tears. Wanting to be strong for him.

Roland gave a very sad smile as he saw her reaction. "Hey, Abs." he said softly. He leaned his head into her touch. "Went out for a run. Ran into a feral. I'm too used to fighting wolves that have a plan in their head, wolves that plan and focus. This one was just wild. I lost the fight. Guess he figured he could just leave me dead though, 'cause he left. I think I went in on his territory without knowing it, and that's why he attacked." He sighed and held her hand. "...sorry, Abs."

He looked at Maria, who was simply standing back and looking at her brother sadly. Roland sighed, then leaned back on the bed. "...I'm quitting my job." he said softly. "Sorry you had to go through all that trouble just for me to quit anyways, Abby."
