Abby gave him a kiss on his head as he apologized, shaking her head a little. "Dont apologize for getting hurt. Apologize for being stupid," she whispered, a small playful smile coming into play as she tried to see his smile again.
Frowning slightly as he said he was going to quiet his job, she sat carefully on the edge of his bed and held his hand gently. "Roland....teaching makes you so happy..why would you quit?" she asked quietly as she ran her thumb across the back of his hand.

Roland gave her a look and lifted the hand she was holding. "Does it look like I can teach a class, Abby? I'm going to have to re-learn how to live my life. It's going to be hard enough without having to re-learn how to teach a class. It makes me happy how I used to do it. It probably won't make me happy when I have to re-figure out how to do everything." He frowned and closed his eyes, leaning back. "It's just a job, Abby."
Maria walked over and sat down as well. "Roland...it will be okay." Roland said something very surprising in response to this. "Shut up, Maria." Maria just looked down sadly. "I don't want anyone telling me lies. Okay? I want that made perfectly clear right now. Don't. Tell. Me. Lies." He sighed, his sudden bout of anger draining. (brb to go eat )

Abby looked away as he told her it was just a job. "That job made you happy..we're going to be here for you Roland. You wont be doing it alone.." she said quietly then frowned as he told Maria to shut up. Listening to him, she shook her head slowly and gave a heavy sigh. "Roland. Stop it. She is just trying to help. No one tries to tell you lies." she snapped in a surprising fashion before she fell silent. She had never been cross with Roland before. "Sorry.." she murmured. Pulling her hand away she rubbed her forehead and felt the overwhelming anger come back. Rolling her shoulders, she took a couple of deep breaths as she tried to calm herself. This wolf thing was definitly harder than she thought it would be. Now knowing why Roland had to leave all those times.
Balling her hand into a fist, she silently vowed to rip apart that feral wolf. Oh, she was going to tear its limbs off one by one. See how he liked it. Getting off the bed, she paced the length of the room slowly as if she was just itching to do something. "Do you know what direction you were in when the wolf attacked you?" she asked quietly as she looked over at him. (Okie dokie )

Roland frowned at her. "No, Abby, they are telling me lies. Anyone who says it will be okay is lying. Because it won't be okay." He turned his head away, listening as she paced. "You're not going after it. It's a wolf, you won't ever be able to find out what one. You could kill an innocent wolf if you try, Abby." He knew just what would get her mind off that, though. "I'm not the alpha anymore."
His hand clenched into a fist. "I've got one arm. I'm weak. Especially in wolf form. I can't be the alpha anymore. So it's going to someone else." He sighed. "...at least that's a big responsibility off my shoulders..." But everyone loved Roland being alpha. He was a good alpha. But he was right. The pack wouldn't be able to follow someone who was so weak in wolf form.

Abby looked at Roland and she shoved her hands in her pockets. "No. Im Alpha now. After all, if the male wont then the female has the option. And i take it," she said simply as she walked over to the window. Leaning on the window sill, she searched outside for nothing in particular as she tapped her fingers on the window sill. Now was the time to let him know, so she would. "Everyone loves you being alpha Roland. So im going to take it so you can still be," she added quietly.
Roland sighed. "Abby, that's impossible. You're a human, not a werewolf. And one has to be a werewolf to be the alpha." He rubbed his shoulder slightly. It ached. Everything ached, and he still felt like he had an arm there. The doctors had said that was typical, and it'd take a while to get used to the fact that his arm was gone. "I'm not worthy to lead a pack anymore, that's the cold truth."
Abby looked slightly nervous but she figured it was her only shot. "I am a werewolf Roland." she said. Then noticed him rubbing her shoulder, a concerned look crossing her face as she crossed the room. "Do you need something for the pain? Is it too bad?" she asked, trying to change the subject as she sat back down on the edge of his bed but close to him. "You will always be able to be a worthy leader.." she whispered quietly.
Any attempt at changing the subject was shot down quickly. "What? You can't be a werewolf, you're a human! What are you talking about, Abby? I know you're not a werewolf!" How could she be? It just didn't make sense to him at all. "Why do you think you're a werewolf, Abby?" He wanted to see what fairytale had put this idea into her head.
Abby groaned softly then walked over to Maria, taking her over to the bathroom in the room. "Okay lock the door to the room please and open the bathroom door once i paw at it," she said then disappeared into the bathroom. Stripping out of her clothes after she shut the door, she shifted into her wolf form with less pain this time around. Pawing at the door, she jumped out once Maria haad opened it. Prancing around the room with so much energy as she shook breifly before walking over to the hospital bed and putting her front paws on the bed as she stood on her hind ones. Putting her muzzle on Roland's hand, she softly whined.
Maria followed instructions, and when Abby came out in wolf form, Roland stared. "Wh...what?! What the hell? How is that even possible? You're a human, Abby, you can't be a werewolf!" He looked at her for a moment, then looked at the door to his room with concern. "Go change back before a nurse comes in and flips out." He looked at Maria, a 'WHAT THE HECK' look. Maria shrugged. "We think it may have had something to do with Marking her. Whatever happened, though, she's a werewolf now. That's certain."
Roland sighed. "Well yeah, obviously..." He leaned back. This was a lot to think on now.

Abby's ears swiveled back and down as a dissapointed look came into her eyes. Letting out a huff, she brought her front paws off the edge of the bed and her head off his hand. Her tail hanging down in dissapointment as she padded back to the bathroom. Now that she had been in wolf form, she had wanted him to pet her but he instead freaked out. Closing the door with her head, she changed back into human form and put her clothes back on. Wincing as she felt a pain in her stomach, she shrugged it off before she went back into the room. Sitting in a chair next to the bed, she leaned back a bit and looked at Roland.
Roland reached over and took her hand as she came back to him, just holding it. He had a lot on his mind. A lot was going on, and there was so much to consider. And there was still the fact that he was MISSING AN ARM. Which upset him a lot more than he showed.
Maria stood there in silence, just waiting. she could tell her brother was off. It was so obvious. For one, he was quiet. Another reason she could tell was because he wasn't trying to reassure Abby that everything was fine. He always did that. Always tried to keep her happy. Maria had a bad feeling, now that he wasn't trying to do that.
"I need some rest. I'll see you guys at home in the morning." Roland let go of Abby's hand, gave her a kiss on the cheek, then laid down on his bed and pulled the blanket up over himself. Maria stood up. "Alright. We'll see you at home, Roland." She gestured for Abby to follow her out.

Abby was quiet and just let him have his time to think. Holding his hand gently but tightly as if she was afraid he would suddenly disappear. She was slightly disappointed though that he was so down about this. She had tried her best to cheer him up by being around but it wasnt working. Him loosing an arm was obviously bothering him alot. As he said he would meet them at the house and he pulled away, Abby was very hesitant to leave. But as she watched him pull the covers over his head and look so depressed by it all, she felt anger welling up inside her and she knew she was going to kill that wolf.
For a second, she ran her fingers through his hair as he layed there then leaned down and kissed his head. "Im sorry... But i still love you and always will.." She whispered and squeezed her eyes shut as she felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. Then she stood up and left with Maria, hating the fact she was leaving him there by himself. But she had to find that wolf, the anger of it tearing at her and she could feel her wolf howling at the thrill of just the idea of a hunt. Once they got to her car, she took it strangely steady and slow on the way back. Not saying a word but something obviously on her mind.

Maria looked at Abby a few times. "It'll be okay, Abby. He's a tough one, he'll perk up soon. It's just the initial shock that's got him so down. It'll take some getting used to, but things will get better. I know they will." She was concerned, though. She believed what she said, but her brother was indeed sorely affected by this. She knew exactly how his mind worked, though. And that was what concerned her.
She knew Roland considered himself weak now. Not good enough, especially for someone he adored so much, like Abby.

Abby suddenly gripped the steering wheel hard and gritted her teeth. "Im gonna kill the mutt who did this," she growled quietly. Her wolf side itching to be let out as it howled and barked at the prospect of killing the one who injured her mate. There was a look in her eyes and an air about her that told Maria, no matter what anyone said or did to stop her, she was going to end the life of that rogue wolf. As they pulled up to the house, she turned off her car and got out quickly. Instantly shifting into her wolf form, she shook out her fur and stood up tall. Definitly bigger than a normal werewolf.
A loud howl pierced the night air as her wolf warned everyone to stay far out of her way. Ignoreing any protests from Maria, she took off into the woods and quickly picked up on Roland's stale scent. The thing that would work as an advantage for her, is the fact that mating season was only a day away so her wolf would be in heat. It would attract the rogue wolf to where she could get it close enough to snap its neck. Rolling around in a patch of cloves and wild mint, she wiped all her packs scent off of her and covered it up with the fresh smell of mint and clovers. Continuing on the stale scent of Roland. Soon crossing into another wolfs territory.

Maria knew better than to stop her. She just went into the house, leaving a light on for whenever Abby got back.
It wasn't long after Abby crossed territories that she would be able to smell blood, and follow that scent to something horrifying; a bone. Bits of flesh were still hanging off it, but it was obviously recently devoured. And it was probably Roland's arm. The smell of blood was soon apparent, as a wolf jumped out from the bushes and growled loudly. This had to be the wolf; there was blood on his maw and on his fur, and he looked somewhat injured.

Abby decided to play the weaker female so that the wolf would draw closer. Crouching down quickly as the wolf jumped out, her tail tucking between her legs and her ears pinned down in a submissive way. A soft whine left her as she looked at the rogue. Her eyes held fear and pain, she favored her left front leg as if she had already been attacked. The smell of blood from the bone and blood in the grass, enough to not be able to tell if she was truly hurt or not.
The wolf was pleased with her submissiveness, since it was so close to mating season, and approached her with intentions that would have made Roland snap its neck. It was no doubt the wolf that had took Roland's arm. And now it had the idea in its head to take his mate, even though it didn't know that Abby was Roland's mate.
Abby waited until it was close enough then suddenly she grew to her full height. Her tail rising to an alpha, more dominant position and her ears flicked back up. Her teeth much larger than his as she growled a deep growl. She stood a good couple inches taller than the wolf and as her fur bristled, she definitly looked the alpha status. Snapping her jaws around the back of the wolf's neck, her teeth dug in enough to make him bleed but not severly injure him. Swinging her head to the side, she threw him through the air and into a tree. Hard enough for the wolf's air to be knocked out of its chest. Leaping over to it, she pressed her paw on its side and pressed down hard. Easily being able to keep it pinned, her muscles rippling beneath her black coat. Putting her teeth around the front of its throat, she growled. "You took my mates leg. If i was a killer you would be long dead. I am the female alpha of the Lyall pack. I am offering you now a place in our pack. If you do not take it then a will kill you now. If you do take it and you try to betray the pack i will kill you slowly," she growled to the wolf, offering him a one time offer to be well taken care of.
The wolf growled back at her for a few moments, but after a moment of considering her offer, he quieted and his ears laid back submissively. His instinct was for survival, after all. And survival meant joining the pack. He wasn't used to seeing such a large alpha, especially a female alpha. But she obviously deserved the role.
