Abby made him carry his own clothes inside. Pain flashing into her eyes when she saw him with only one arm. However, when she saw Ben's smirk, she balled her hand into a fist and swung it around hard and fast. Quicker than Ben could dodge, her punch sent him literally flying into a wall and breaking the bone in his cheek in several places. Pain flooding through his face and back from the force of hitting the wall as well as his broken cheek. A crack formed in the wall and she vowed to patch it up later. She may have taken him in, but she wasnt letting him get off easy with him taking pride in what he had done. "Your pushing it Ben," she growled quietly before she made her way over to the fridge as if nothing had happened. Taking out a sandwhich she had made earlier, she ate on it as she left the kitchen. Not saying a word to anyone and just leaving Ben in his pain without patching him up. He needed to learn after all.
Maria gasped as Abby knocked Ben into the wall. Roland smirked. Maria frowned at the both of them and got up, rushing over to Ben. "I know what he's done, and I'm not happy for it either, but I'm not going to have any violence in my house! If you want to hit him, do it outside, Abby!" she scolded. She helped him to his feet, then let him go get the first aid kit. She sat back down by Roland. Roland just watched Abby for a few moments while she was in the kitchen, and kept eating.
"Good gracious," Maria said, "When will you two start talking?" Roland frowned at her. "Shut up, Maria."

Abby took the stairs two at a time before she made it to the top. Going into her room, she shut the door and rifled through her stuff as she looked for something in particular. Not finding it, she sighed and threw her box across the room. It hit the bottom of the wall and her art stuff flew everywhere. Sinking down to sit by her bed, she brought her knees to her chest and buried her head in her arms. Mating season was only a day away and she was finding it harder and harder to keep her emotions in check. Her wolf itched to jump Roland but everything was too fragile right now to try anything. It was wearing her wolf's patience thin and Abby wondered how Roland ever handled this. Getting up, she opened her window and climbed out onto the roof. Sitting there, she leaned back on the wall of the house just beneath her window sill. Putting her head back on her window sill as she closed her eyes. Letting all the stress about everything melt away as she cleared her mind and thought about nothingbut how good the sun felt.
Abby probably understood a lot more now, why Roland had lost a bit of control in the car, and why that had spurred him on to desperate measures. Right now, in the weak state he was, mating season had little effect. He was part of the species that should just die off, now. Not reproduce. Roland just finished his meal and went to his room again. Ben had something to eat and went to where he was staying, too. He had gotten a pack of ice for his cheek as well.
Kevin called out to Abby from the ground. "Hey! Abby!" He waved his hand at her and smiled. "I brought someone to see you!" His little sister was standing beside him, waving excitedly.

Abby sighed softly when she heard Kevin's voice. Then slid off the roof and landed on the ground with a soft thud. She smiled excitedly and picked up Annie. "Annie! Ug your getting so big! Stop growing on me girl!" she said with a laugh, knowing she wasnt really growing that fast. Poking the tip of Annie's nose before she smiled and held the girl in one arm, placing her on her hip. Looking at Kevin, she gave him a sad smile. "Hey Kevin." she said.
Abby wanted to do something for Roland but she decided it was better to wait until he was calmed down. Besides, she had company.

Annie squealed and hugged at Abby. "Abby! I'm big girl!" she declared, hugging onto her as she was placed on her hip. Kevin smiled at her. "Hi, Abby. How are you doing?" He glanced at the house. "We uh...we're not allowed in. Nobody but Maria and you, y'know. Roland's not the alpha anymore, so he can't give us orders, but everyone's listening anyways." He fidgeted a little. "So...you're the alpha now, huh Abby? What's it like? Is it scary at all?" He blinked a moment, his head lifting. "...who else is in the house? I've never smelled that scent before." He hadn't ever met Ben, after all.
Abby smiled and laughed softly as she hugged Annie with one arm. "I will have a talk with Roland about letting people in..Everything is okay. Could be better. Its not a bad position and it isnt too much to handle. Its not scary." she replied then glanced back at the house. "A new member." was all she said before she looked to Annie with a smile. "Yes you are Annie! Your a big girl and your very smart," she said with a smile as she again lightly tapped her nose. A sort of exahustion was in Abby's eyes as she stood there. She hadnt gotten sleep in two nights.
Kevin watched her, listening as she spoke. "Oh..okay. Well I hope things work out, Abby. A new member? When will the rest of the pack get to meet them?" He looked at Abby for a moment, then smiled and took Annie from her gently. "Hey, how about we come back tomorrow? You look like you could use some sleep, Abby. We'll be back tomorrow, right Annie? Promise Abby we'll be back."
The little girl held out her pinkie finger, smiling brightly.

Abby looked thoughtful and chewed on the inside of her lip for a second. "Soon but he still needs time to get used to it," she replied and almost protested when Kevin took Annie. But relaxed slightly as they said they would come back tommorow. Smiling, she wrapped her pinkie around Annie's. "Okay then. I'll see you tommorow Annie. Maybe i'll take you to town and we can do something," she said then waved bye before she leapt up to her window. Climbing in, she was quick to collapse on her bed and curl up.
Kevin smiled and nodded. "Okay. Sleep well, Abby!" He trotted off then, Annie waving back at her as they left. The next morning, by the time she came down from her room, Roland and Maria were eating breakfast at the table and Ben was leaning against the wall, sipping from a drink. There was absolute silence in the room. Roland and Maria ignored Ben, and Ben ignored Roland and Maria.
Abby broke the cold feeling in the room as she bounced in full of energy. Grabbing an apple before she pocketed her phone and grabbed her car keys. Walking over to Ben, she flicked him in the forehead a little hard and gave him a serious look. "Behave while im gone. I will know if you started pushing the limits," she warned quietly. Then turned on her heels and walked over to the table. Placing a kiss on Roland's cheek, not expecting anything in return before she left. She had gotten a job as a waitress at one of the small diners in town. Getting into her car, she pulled out and drove to her job.
Ben frowned as he was flicked and just sipped at his drink. He didn't like being treated like a child, but she was the alpha, so there was not a word said against her. Roland looked at her as she kissed his cheek, and he kissed her cheek back. He managed to put his fork down and catch her by the hand, barely. "Where are you going?" He was completely unaware of the job she'd gotten.
Abby smiled as she got a kiss back, stopping as she felt his hand close around her wrist. Leaning on the table a bit, she gave him a soft smile. "I got a job. It doesnt pay much but it pays," she said with a small shrug. Without being able to help herself, she ran her fingers through his blonde hair slowly before leaning foreward and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "I still love you.." She whispered to him before she pulled away.
Roland considered this, then just nodded and let her go. A job. That wasn't so bad. He couldn't baby her after all, and they were now officially off a paycheck, so it wouldn't be bad for her to have a job. When she started pulling away after that whisper, he suddenly snagged her and pulled her against him with his one arm, holding her close. His embrace was almost desperate. He said nothing, but he didn't need to. Just how he was hugging her showed that he still loved her too. Finally, he let her go and turned his head back to his meal. He didn't want her to see the sadness in his eyes.
Abby was surprised when she was pulled back again but she instantly relaxed when he hugged her tightly to his body. A soft smile gracing her lips as she put her head on his shoulder and gripped it his shirt even if it was only breifly before he let go. A small sadness tugged at her as she pulled away and watched him turn back to his meal but she didnt say anything. Quickly, she left and drove to her job. A long day of being a waitress at the same diner that he had taken her to when they first met. Which always brought a smile to her face when she thought about it.
Roland stayed home for most of the day, in fact he stayed home for the entire day. He had nothing else to do. He was still recovering from his injury after all. He'd been in the living room when she came home, watching some TV. Maria seemed to be doing some paperwork, and Abby's new 'friend' was apparently in his new room, reading a book. All was quiet. Almost peaceful, but it was just...too tense to be painful. The whole house still had the air of despair. And naturally, the source was Roland.
Abby sighed as she walked through the door, feeling the despair and tense thick in the air. Making her mind up, she decided she needed to put a stop to all of this. Walking into the living room, she didnt give Roland a second to protest. Grabbing his only hand, she turned off the TV then pulled him off the couch. Pulling him up the stairs, she walked to his room then opened the door. Bringing him in behind her, she shut the door then made him sit on his bed. For a moment, she was quiet as she looked at him then she sighed softly. "Im sorry. I shouldnt have brought Ben here. I know. But i cant change it now. Im not going to kick him out because he is already here. You still have a pack to take care of even if you only have one arm. It doesnt matter. Just because you lost an arm doesnt make you any weaker than you already were. I took up the role of alpha because i know you really dont want to give up the things you have. You dont have to Roland. You just need to learn a different way of doing things. Me and Maria, even the whole pack are here. We want to help you through this." she said seriously but there was a softness in her eyes.
Leaning forward, she placed her lips on his and didnt let him pull away even if he tried. After a few minutes, she pulled away herself but kept their lips brushing. "I love you Roland. No matter what happens. I will always love you." she whispered as her thumb lightly brushed along his cheek.

Roland blinked and looked at her as she came in and turned off the TV. "Abby, welc--" And then he was being dragged away by his one arm. "Hey! Abby, what are you doing? Where are we--" And that was when the door was shut and he was sat on the bed. "Abby, we're not having s--" And, again, he didn't get a full sentence out because she started speaking. He listened quietly. When she was done, Roland sighed. "Abby...I physically can't be alpha. You saw the one challenge, I barely got out of it alive. If someone were to challenge me now, I'd be defeated easily. I'm not well enough physically to be alpha. I've got one arm, which means I'm missing a leg in wolf form. I can't run fast, I can't head the pack or attack. I can't even defend. I know you want things to be sweet and happy and perfect, but the reality is that it isn't, Abby."
He sighed. "The reality is that there are a lot more people in the pack than you realize who don't think I'm suitable to be alpha, even as I was. So now that I'm armless, everyone is saying that a new alpha is needed. This isn't about sentimentality, Abby, it's about physically being able to lead and protect and take care of the pack." When she kissed him, he blinked. He was about to pull away, to say this was no time for kissing, but she wasn't letting him. He sighed afterwards and put his one arm around her gently, pulling her carefully into his lap. "I love you too. I don't deserve to, but I do.."

Abby sat in his lap as he pulled her close to him, encircling her arms around his neck. Resting her head on his shoulder, she nuzzled Roland's neck gently. "Roland, let me handle the physical things. You focus on decisions that need to be made and all the other stuff. Or I can find a suitable wolf to take over the alpha position if that's what you really, truly want. But I don't want you telling me to do that right away. Give it some time, think about it then when you are confident that it is something you WANT me to do, let me know. I can handle this, I know I have a whole lot to learn but I can handle it if you are willing to let me try. I know I haven't handled all of this very well as of late, but lean on me throughout this Roland. We are Mates, that is one of the things I am here for. I am proud to be your Mate and I love you more than I can ever describe. Please Roland, let me help you through this and everything else that will come along in the future. Let me be your Mate how I am supposed to be your Mate," she murmured into his ear.
Leaning back a little bit to look at his face, Abby pushed some hair away from his face and studied his features silently. Smiling softly as she looked at him, it showed clearly in her eyes how much she loved him, missing arm and all. Pressing her soft lips to his forehead gently, she stayed there silently for a moment just to comfort him. "Lean on me throughout this okay? I don't work tomorrow. Lets go out for a picnic? It will do you good to get out of the house for a bit. It will do us both good. I know you probably don't feel like it but trust me alright? It'll be a lot more fun than sitting inside all day watching reality TV," she said, trying to convince him to get out with her a little bit. She was also trying to get him to smile, even just a little. Abby missed Roland's smile. It comforted her.

Roland listened to her speak, his one arm wrapped around her and holding her in his lap as she got it all out. He closed his eyes and nuzzled his head slightly against hers, just once while she was speaking. "I don't know, Abby. You might need some training before you can work with the physical aspects of alpha. But it's worth a try, I guess..." It just might work. The only problem was that being the alpha was dangerous. He wouldn't be able to stand it if anything happened to Abby. He sighed softly, through his nose. "..I'll think it over." Whether to have her train to be the alpha or have her find a new wolf. He gazed into her eyes as she brushed the hair from his face, studying her as much as she was studying him. When she kissed his forehead, he closed his eyes and sighed softly.
He didn't really want to go out on a picnic. Abby would have to carry everything, he'd barely be able to help at all. And if there was one thing that Roland hated, it was feeling helpless. But he knew how much she wanted to do this with him, so he gave a slight nod. "Alright. We'll go out for a picnic tomorrow." He cracked a slight smile as she mentioned him watching reality TV. "Please, as if I'd watch that swill." He paused for a moment, nose scrunching up at the mention of swill. "Speaking of, though...I want that wolf out of this house, Abby. I know you have some twisted mother-complex but I don't want that thing living with us." Ben. Roland was definitely not in favor of Ben staying in the house.
