Cat's Tail Tavern
Welcome!
Where am I?
A fantasy tavern! Mostly, anyway. The Cat's Tail Tavern sits in a lovely fantasy forest, but for our convenience it's been known to have inter-dimensional hiccups. If you can think of a reason for your vanilla human, tiger guy or space man to be here, then that's fine with us! The setting is flexible. Just think cozy tavern with a stable.
What kind of Rp is this?
The tavern is meant to have a low pressure atmosphere so players feel okay just dipping their toe in for a little while. It's a good place to get your daily Rp fix and go hunting for a new RP partner without having to commit to anything long term. This thread is for non-committal, spontaneous, real-time Rp.
Scenes begin and end frequently!
Often when the players leave for the night, the scene they were participating in ends. If it's been more than twelve hours since the last post- then I think it's safe and fair to assume you can start fresh. It's okay for a scene to carry on for a few days, but if it's something other players might struggle to join- such as a big bar fight, and it's been taking over the tavern for five daaays- it might be better moved to its own thread to make room for the next thing.
Can I play?
Yup! You don't have to ask before entering your character. Please read the tips first! It might make your Rp experience smoother.
What about post length?
Ideally posts are at least a paragraph long (5 - 6sentences or more) on average. This tavern shouldn't be used as a script Rp. We're looking for something more substantial than that!
Don't worry about replying to everyone.
Tavern Rps are MESSY. It's their nature, and it's really more ideal that you don't try to absorb every detail of every post. Sometimes it's best to narrow your interactions down to whoever is interacting directly with your character. Moderation is key.
It is super helpful to bold the name of a character if you're trying to get the player's attention.
You can say no.
If you're not feeling an Rp with someone, you don't have to play with that person. It's a big tavern and there's no reason two folks can't co-exist IC and OOC. Again, it's messy, and that's okay. It may sound harsh, but there are a LOT of reasons and situations where being able to say no is important.
That said, there's no need to a butt about it. Please be gentle and polite.

Tips
- Keep it PG-13ish. That means no F-bombs or C words. More Info.
- No sympathy fishing. You can stumble in gravely injured if you want to, but don't be angry if the other players overlook it. Sometimes tavern goers just want to have a drink without being interrupted by a guy with arrows in his back. (There's one in every RP, you know? If we rushed to all of them, nobody would get to talk about their day.)
- Be respectful of other players and their space. If they're not feeling an RP with you, let it go.
- Any kind of character is fine. The setting the tavern resides in is fantasy, but we'll take whatever you've got! (Vanilla humans, aliens, dragons, motorcycles, guns. It's all allowed.)
- Be respectful of Rp immersion. (Example: Crashing your dragon OC through the roof in a way that forces everyone to notice you would be considered disruptive, and generally not cool.)
- Keep the OOC atmosphere pleasant (and fairly minimal, OOC should be relevant to Rp.)
- Please use your best grammar and spelling. You don't have to be perfect, just capitalize those Is and use periods.
- Please don't break the fourth wall. It's disruptive of immersion for other players.

Alf felt he was carrying enough water to quench a desert village. Most of it was in his coat. Since he'd put it on, he'd been wanting to take it off, but the criss cross of bags and belts made it more effort than it was worth. He came in from the thunderous rain outside and looked at his bare, clawed feet. Water ran around them. He'd made a right mess of the floor, but there were muddy prints there that weren't his. He wasn't the first to leave a puddle and it looked to be draining between the boards. Alf didn't look for more incentive than that to forget about it and find a seat.
He hadn't come for drinks or food. He was there purely to get out of the weather, and because as far as familiarizing himself with a new town went, a tavern was the place to start. He didn't know where he was, but he was sure that it wasn't The Cat's Way. It wasn't Gotham, either. It was some place new, and that was worth investigating.
The inside was pretty standard at a glance. It was earthy, cozy, and he noticed the tables and chairs came in different sizes. He'd noticed the door was rather tall, too. A man his height usually had to duck to get into a building.
He went for a chair in the back where the light from the fireplace didn't quite stretch. Because that's what he was supposed to do, wasn't it? He was the big, grumpy type. It was his lot in life to sit in the back and be an anti-social lump.
((I should be around all night. Anyone who wants to join is welcome.))

As the sound of claws against wood flew through the room, Madison flicked her ear to capture the sound. It already sounded big and threatening, so her first instinct was to not turn around in her seat and just continue counting her charms.
Madison only came inside to take refuge from the storm, not to make friends nor conflict. In fact, a part of her hoped that the new comer came without violence to prevent the tension in the room from breaking out. So, she did what she did best: try to not get noticed (unless there was a reason to be or course.)
But then she head him sit down and curiosity overcame fear as she turned to view him out of the corner of her eye. She was amused by his choice to sit further away. It reminded her of herself.

(Hello)
The oddly small, soaking wet cat -though she didn’t seem to mind being wet- walked in at the heels of a man. Walking towards the fireplace she sat watching the flame. Her brown tail was swaying back and forth with the flame.
The odd part was how small, cold, wet, and dirty she was she seemed happy. Without a collar it was pretty odvius she was a stray.

(Starting a new scene since it's been a few days. Anyone is welcome to join. You don't have to ask first. Just hop on in.)
Alf had turned the tavern into a regular haunt. He had a spot. HIS place. It was in a far corner where no one else actually wanted to be. The floor was uneven, and the cobble stuck out in irregular angles that were uncomfortable to walk on, and impossible to balance tables and chairs around. The warmth from the fire didn't quite reach it. A near constant updraft from the cellar kept it cold.
It was perfect, because it was a people repellent, and he was all about that.
His feet were as good as elephant skin and being at least 1/8th cat, Alf could fall asleep on anything. He made that awful corner look enviable. He'd been spending a lot of afternoons napping there, and had worn a shape into the floor that was distinctly his.
That was where he was spending his night. The sky outside promised snow, and Alf had gone into full on bear mode.

Turning to the creature, Madison noticed Alf and immediately thought that he was uncomfortable. But once she saw him deliberately lay on the ground, she wondered otherwise. A part of her thought that she should talk to him. Another was screaming he is not a people's person! Well, might as well try, she convinced herself. So, despite all of her wild instincts telling her that she was gonna die, she stood up as quietly as possible, though "quiet" was non-existent with hooves like hers. She walked over and stood nearby. To hopefully spark conversation, she rolls over a coin.
"Hungry? I'm buying."
"Hungry? I'm buying."
Alf eyes didn't quite open. He tucked his hands up to his sternum and rolled onto his back in cat fashion, stretching so completely that he ended up with one foot propped on the wall.
Her voice was so casual it took a minute for his brain to catch up. People didn't usually walk up to him and offer him things. It simple wasn't done.
Alf's eyelids popped up and he turned his head, still belly up. He looked the part of a cat who had just realized it was sharing a bed with a mouse.
"What?" Alf's sleepy face slid into a frown. His chest puffed. His monster status had been challenged. Unacceptable. "Lady if I was hungry I'd just snack on you."

"Sorry," She grinned, "can't tell when people are hungry until I'm in their mouth. That's only happened, like, twice. I think you may be able to see why."
One of her favourite things to do was to prance around (metaphorically) whoever she was talking to. Not to offend but to enlighten, though it was clear that Alf wasn't so easily persuaded. But Madison was determined to keep the conversation moving.
"But I ain't dead yet. Who knows, maybe I will be right now. Or maybe tomorrow. No one knows till it happens, hm?"

Alf growled out a groan and turned his head to face the wall. He turned it back to eyeball her feet. She had a deer for a bottom half. That ruled out throwing her in Alf jail.
Bummer.
He could lick, but licking had ended poorly enough once that he'd been iffy about trying it ever since. Believe it or not, he did learn lessons when properly motivated.
"Shove off before I find a hole to stuff you in." He griped, and rolled so his back was to her, tucking his feet up to his body. Had to keep the tooties warm. "I ain't hungry." And he never was, but that was besides the point.
Other creatures sure did like to eat.

"Then that's one possible death off the list, ain't it?"
Madison was still persistent despite her many warnings. It was surprising that she was not dead.
She also happened to follow his eyes as he glanced below.
"Not threatening enough to talk to ya? Maybe not, but that has it's upsides."
She looked around in her bag, an accessory that had proven useful. She pulled out a deep navy blue blanket and threw it on the floor in front of Alf, or rather behind as his back was turned.
"Got that as a thanks to some Elf. I think he was trying to hit on me but never stayed to find out."

As Brady walked into the tavern, nobody had noticed the 12 year old (plz dont ask why he's 12)he sat at a table in the corner, laying his staff against the wall, hood covering his face
As the young girl dashed in,she was soaking wet, when she saw Brady, she walked over and sat with him, nearly falling out of her chair from the uneven floor
As the kid sat the hood covering most of his face with a few streaks of dirty blonde hair poking out,you notice how plump and short he is,while as the girl is the total oppodite of his bodybuild, but older
The girl saw the guy short and plump. She looked at him and tried to know if he liked her looks or not.
Miss sapphire, as a cat, enters the tavern." Meow."
"Meow"
Girl giggles."Hey look at this." She says to the boy. She signales for him to come.
"Meow" she says
