I'm looking to pitch a murder mystery story, set in a quasi-medieval era, set in a monastery of sorts or perhaps a small community surrounding one. It could even work as a DnD setting!
Late one night, one of the younger monks returns to the dorms after a midnight vigil, and by the flickering light of his candle the monk sees an evil bestial shape just ahead of him on the grounds. Glowing red eyes, black fur, smells like sulphur and gives them the heebie-jeebies. Fortunately for our monk, he manages to escape. But the next morning, a different monk is found dead, brutally savaged as if by a monstrous wolf. A group of the monks and some townsmen gather a group to hunt this creature, but the monk that saw the shape believes its in the monastery already, possibly waiting to make its next kill.
Despite voicing his fears to a superior Monk, our monk is not believed. So he has contacted a group of adventurers/townsmen that will listen to him, to guard/protect the monastery and see if they can stop this monster before it kills again.
I'm looking to set this up as a Gothic Horror sort of RP, with emphasis on romanticism and the fear of the unknown, keeping it saturated in symbolism and ramping up the sinister parts.

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?

Unrest may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat may be summarized.

I'm gonna set up the RP via posts on RPR messages if that seems to be all of us and there's no objections to it, but it'll have to wait for a day or so before that, as my WiFi has been terribly erratic this last week and I can't be certain if the post will not go through if I should post and it then cut out during posting. I'm also okay with setting up a Google Doc Roleplay, as a secondary choice option.
