I thought I'd try an RP of the headcanon I'm working on for some backstory of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles(original one for Gamecube, none of the ones with subtitles), just to see how it goes. Knowledge of FFCC not required. You're now going to read some pasted in "lore", so bear with me here. Scroll down a bit for a "TL;DR" version.
Fanfic excerpt
Scores of the great seal’s people, possibly the whole race, had been chased by the Liltian armies that ruled supreme at the time to the vast swamp known as Conall Curach. They were told to either move far away to the other side of the swamp or be imprisoned and eventually executed for repeated thievings against the Lilty Empire. It was an unanimous vote: move. Move and find a place they could better call home. But they failed to realize how dangerous the swamp really was. On top of the normal hardships caused by weather and the cruelty of nature, a vicious man-eating dragon had made its den in the far reaches of the swamp. Out of the hundreds that went in, only ten came out alive: five males and five females.

Though there’s still the problem of if so few people survived... then there would be genetical problems... It would have to be that huge tribe of the selkie were wiped out... But that there were other members of the races more scattered to make them healthy enough to last...
Me:
Perhaps there were actually quite a few who were "tame" enough that the lilties kept them as slaves instead of having them executed. So then after a decade or so, they figure out they need to deepen the gene pool a bit, so they build boats and go AROUND the swamp that killed so many of them to free the slaves and bring them back. Kinda like in the book Watership Down, where these rabbits looking for a safe haven were short on females, so they find this farm with pet rabbits and rescue the females. Only in this case it'd be both males and females.

That could work too~ And for the riches lilty have, could work really well~
Me:
So, visual aid here, I have this map:
Lilty Empire forced them into Conall Curach from the east, the survivors would camp somewhere in Rebena Plains until they go to get the slaves. Alfitaria is too far, so they'd just help the ones that are in chains working in Cathurgies Mine escape. They'd already have access to pickaxes and stuff there, so once the slaves were out of their chains, they'd be able to fight too. Later down the line, some might get wanderlust and end up in the islands to the south, figure out only the northern tip of one is really habitable, and the city of Leuda is founded. Even later after the fall of the Lilty Empire, there'd be a bunch of former slaves coming from Alfitaria to add to their ranks. This way it's entirely possible for a group of ten to revive a dying race.
I'm already picturing the mine raid...Alpha charging in there yelling a battle cry and stabbing any lilty he can reach in the face or back of the head, Alphess right behind him eventually picking up a fallen wooden support beam to use instead of her actual weapon, playing whack a mole with the lilties, Nurse in the back with the cure magitite, Quicksand running circles around lilities until they get dizzy and then stabbing them, and maybe the rest picking the locks on the slave chains. You'd think those locks would be pick proof though, actually...if you put a bunch of people with roguish skills embedded in their very DNA in regular chains they'll pick the locks. Hmm. They'd find some way. Perhaps taking keys from lilties.
TL;DR version
Race of warrior people(lilties) is trying to conquer the world.
Lilties have problems with a race of thief people(selkies) constantly stealing from them.
Lilties run a large population of selkies into a dangerous swamp. Only ten selkies survive.
Surviving selkies multiply like rabbits for a decade or so in an attempt to save their race.
Meanwhile, the more docile selkies are kept as slaves by the lilties. Slaves are chained up in the iron mines and forced to work in them.
Swamp survivors get to the point where they need a deeper gene pool. A plan emerges.
Boats are built, swamp survivors go around the dangerous swamp by sea. The iron mines are attacked. The slaves are freed. Problem solved.
I thought it would be a neat RP concept, so here it is. We'll be choosing from the surviving ten, and I may allow people to play a slave or a lilty, BUT the surviving ten are top priority. We won't need all of them, some would have to stay behind to babysit after all. The surviving ten are mostly blank slates in terms of personality. The ones marked with * are required, but I have claimed two of the requirements already. Nurse is required because it'd be stupid to leave the healer behind on a dangerous raid. You are welcome to convert a character with a profile here into one of the survivors like giving them their personality.
“Alpha”: Leader. Male. Black hair, blue eyes. * (taken by me)
“Alphess”: Leader’s main mate. Female. Gray hair, green eyes. * (taken by me)
“Spike”: Male. Messy blueish gray hair, green eyes. Tried to overthrow Alpha, but failed.
“Nurse”: Female. Dull red hair, brown eyes. Healer of the group, occasional midwife. *
“Flame”: Male. Red hair, blue eyes.
“Breeze”: Female. Silver hair, gray eyes, slimmer than average.
“Rock”: Male. Reddish brown hair, dark brown eyes, bulky.
“Light”: Female. Blond hair, light blue eyes.
“Bronze”: Male. Dull orange hair, gray eyes.
“Quicksand”: Female. Brown hair, gold eyes, most agile of the group.
Spike's reasoning for the leadership challenge is irrelevant here, just know that he and Alpha don't get along at all. Like, major rivalry. Those names would actually be much different, with their culture using two part names, Alpha is Lon Rik for example, but for simplicity's sake, we'll just call them what it says. Let's make it simple all across the board and use names like that for lilties and slaves.
Also know that because of their circumstances, these people aren't exactly monogamous. Some might have their favorites (Like Alpha bonding the most with Alphess), but they do a lot of skipping around, and they would each have between five and ten kids, give or take, the girls would be able to more effectively say how many they have because it's medieval fantasy with no paternity test existing, the guys just have to guess. This will NOT be a big part of the RP and there won't be any going past pg 13, but it's good to know. The exception to this is Nurse, with only four, because she's more busy helping the others give birth most of the time.
All of the ten will be in their 30s age wise and therefore starting to slow down the constant "college frat boy party" stuff, aka, acting like rabbits. The oldest kids will be in their teens, but all back at camp with whoever's the babysitters. I'd say leave three or maybe four behind to babysit, the rest go on the raid.
Slaves can be any age, but the survivors will be looking for mostly teens so they can encourage the teen kids to pair up with them and deepen the gene pool. Any slave too far past 30 can probably expect not to be brought back if they are rescued, they're not worth the effort. Lilties can be older than that, but not like elderly if they're slave driving in the mines.
So, yeah. I'm not necessarily looking for profiles for this, try to work with what we have or claim a survivor or two, BUT I will accept profiles if they're easily convertable. Questions welcome, ideas, possibly welcome.

Magic is common.
Iron age
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, one-off scene.
Bump that doubles as some more info that I neglected to put in last night. There are actually four races in this world, but we'll be focusing on the first two.
Lilties are kind of like fantasy dwarves, they're short, they're warlike, BUT they don't typically have beards. Their hair colors are normally warm colors. Reds, oranges, yellows/golds, maybe browns.
Selkies are the rogue archetype, with a strong affinity for water and swimming added. They tend to live by water sources and are avid consumers of fish and seafood.
Clavats are like fantasy humans. Many are peaceful farmers, but they will also fight when they have to. They look similar to selkies, but can be told apart like so:
Plain hair colors are more common(browns, blonds, etc), lean/athletic body types are less common = clavat
Brighter or more exotic hair colors are more common(grays, reds, blueish tints etc), lean/athletic body types are more common = selkie
And then of course there's the cultural differences.
Yukes are the "elf" race, stronger magic ability than the other three, aloof and keeping to themselves most of the time. They don't look like elves though, their heads are pointed near the nose and mouth almost like they have a beak and hairless with no visible ears, and their hands and arms appear feathered or furred. They are tall like generic fantasy elves tend to be though.
Clavats are letting the lilties do as they please and kinda bowing down to their shorty overlords, yukes are kinda resisting(and end up doing the most damage to the lilty empire when war eventually breaks out), and selkies are either not doing anything or resisting and stealing from the empire and causing trouble. Hence why they were targeted so harshly.
There are also monsters in this world, ranging from things like huge bugs, tribal monsters like goblins/orcs/lizardmen, various beasts and flying creatures, to the nasty man-eating swamp dragon.
There are livestock like cows, and things like horses and oxen to pull carts and wagons. Most of the flora and fauna is exactly like Earth's.
Magic exists and is commonly used. Some monsters have it built into them. Tribal monsters and the four races need to have stones called "magitite" to use it, even yukes, but they're the best with it, so figuring out the magitite is easier for them than the others. Magitite comes in a few different types, both offensive and defensive/healing.
Offensive magic: fire, blizzard, thunder
Defensive magic: cure(heals wounds), clear(heals status problems like poison)
Blizzard is ice and thunder is electricity/lightning, just with fancy names, fire's self explanatory.
Magitite is colored to reflect what type it is, and you hold it in your hand to cast the spell, basically. The stones themselves are about the size of a large orange or apple.
Magitite colors:
Reddish orange: fire
Ice blue: blizzard
Indigo: thunder
Aquamarine: cure
Silvery white: clear
Cure is the most effective healing method, there are salves/healing drinks/bandages and casts/whatever, but a cure spell can make the wound go away completely while other methods typically just clean it or stop the bleeding. It only works on wounds, clear must be used for poisoning, although clear isn't a miracle treatment either, nasty sicknesses/diseases exist that it doesn't work on.
The currency is gold coins known as "gil", and it is used by all four races.
If there's anything that needs more explanation let me know.
