Ahoy!

In the hopes to find more potential drivers for my idea of a “Pen & Paper”-forum racing game or at least spark some interest, I decided to start a smaller version parallel to the main game (Which is currently running in another German forum, and that surprisingly well despite the rather complicated rules). That way those, who either were too late to participate or would prefer a short, casual round in between due to lack of time, can play too.

The gameplay in a nutshell: Up to 8 drivers participate in a race, while the “Racemaster” (RM) leads them narrative through the race and tries to make their lives hard with different challenges (Which are done with dice, modified by your vehicle's stats). But contrary to the main game, the races are held on much shorter tracks (From A to B or circuits), there aren't “Instant death”-challenges and the car's life points are halved.

At that point I friendly request everyone to play fair, especially because nobody can control you.

Now, what is this about (To give you a background, as this was originally intended to be a RP)?

Steel Lagoon: A planet, rich of resources, at the most outer border of the pirate-controlled Star Ocean, once home to a mysterious civilization, until they were completely wiped out by pirates. As a revenge, they unleashed an ancient being, which covered the entire world in darkness, letting no light in, twisting the landscapes and leaving areas where the laws of nature doesn't seem to apply anymore. But fortunately, one brave soldier set out to end this madness once and for all and succeeded: The sunlight returned.

Today, nearly 100 years after the conquest and colonization, it's the main exporter of steelware to the planets in the inner Star Ocean - and a prisoner world, where the pirates send convicts and prisoners of war to do strenuous, dangerous work at the factories with no healthcare and insurances at all with no point of return to produce everything they need: From simple cutlery, over cars to weapons.
But somewhere in the settlement, in a dirty hall, lived the true heroes of Steel Lagoon: eight partly very old vehicles, which are used for the annual “Road to Salvation”-championship, where the prisoners stake everything on one chance to win their freedom back – and apart from this, are merely rusting away...
Aren't they?

But next to their nightly activity, to drive the soldiers mad or getting wandering, at times drunk inhabitants back to their homes after darkness arises, they are chased on separate tracks through the different locations of Steel Lagoon after end of work before the sun goes down. With the pirate's permission and under their watch the inmates organize street races to pass the time, which attract a large crowd of spectators who don't want to spend every evening in the taverns with drinking, card games and endless discussions about rumours of happenings in- and outside the planet. Besides, these races are one of the few possibilities to gain something which one could be described as glory despite captivity – as well as to train for the championship in the hopes to leave this world in freedom.

Join as prisoners who either participate for fun to forget their everyday worries or to put your skills to the test for the next championship.

Considering the player's feedback of the main game, I think that it's the most effective to lead the beginners step by step through a tutorial race instead of just smacking the set of rules right into your face.

Therefore I'll simply leave this here and wait, if there are some interested players who want to give it a shot. :)

Unfortunately English isn't my native language, so if something sounds confusing to you, feel free to point it out so I can try to formulate it clearer.

Yes. ;)
Well, I seem interested in this race you're talking about, but I have a few questions. First, how are the car conditions? Must they be in rusty condition, standard condition, or battle ready condition? Next, is the race still open? I just got started with RP Repository so I want to learn as much as I can about RPing. Third and final question, can the vehicles be real? That should be all and I look forward to playing. Oh yeah, also this game is an English game right? Like, English will be used in this game? That's really it.

Ahoi!

First off, it isn't so much a RP, more a board game with RP-elements. :D

But to answer your questions:

1. The cars are decades old, but due to regular maintenance, are actually in a good shape.

2. Well, nobody is really interested in it, so... it's still open. :)

3. The players will have to choose between 8 different cars which are almost exact replicas of real ones, but it's first come, first served.

4. Yes, it's English.
Good to know UAZ. Thanks for the info. And as for decades old as in condition or manufactured year?
UAZ-469 Topic Starter

Rather both. I mean, there's only so much you can do to fight rust or parts that are just too old to work flawlessly anymore.
Huh true. So what are the car selections?
UAZ-469 Topic Starter

Mostly "Underdog"-cars which you won't likely find in racing games today.

We have 2 from different continents each (2 Europeans, 2 Americans, 2 Asians and 2 Russians); from sedans, over coupés, to sports cars and trucks.

Of course all are balanced stat-wise.
Mind if you give me some selections right now?
UAZ-469 Topic Starter

I could, but I'm afraid that it wouldn't be fair for the others if one person get's a sneak-peek at the selection so he can already "reserve" one for him. ;)
Huh. You have a point.
Ouch. This race doesn't seem to attract much.

I'm used to it, guess it's way too complicated and time-consuming for the average forum player, who just wants to engage in simple games to pass time. :)

Though I have found players for the much larger version of it in another forum, which is going strong for months. ;)
How come I'm not in it =(

Probably because it's German. ;)
UAZ-469 Topic Starter

Come on people, give it a try. It isn't as hard as it sounds. ;)
Maybe it's because not many are so interested in a vehicular combat roleplay. Most prefer romance, others fantasy, but the vehicular genre...very little.
UAZ-469 Topic Starter

Actually...

How about us two? :)

Maybe others will chime in when they see how it's played.
How are we going to race just by ourselves? One of us will die the moment we step on one problem.
