After three of the same, incredibly odd murders happened on the same day, we all knew something was up.

A single hole, the size of a God damn twig, was found between the eyes of each victim. The brain was incinerated. We didn't know it then, but our first encounter with a magical kind had occurred. Our second occurred that same week. After the public had word of the unexplainable murders, a small group of people claimed responsibility. They called themselves "The Oktavial Cult." They wanted a peace treaty. It felt like a God damn story that I would read as a kid. They threatened war. As we didn't see a reason not to, we signed the treaty. We thought it to be a load of bull. We were wrong.

Within a week, the Oktavials, or as the normal people called them, those weirdos walking around in robes or capes, were roaming the streets like the homeless. Guess they technically were. Wasn't long before they wanted jobs. We still didn't think much of it. Just some crazies. We let the kids into schools, the adults had no education, so we didn't really give em a chance at jobs. Anyways, the kids grew up fast, and learned faster. We didn't see why. Some people started to believe them. I sure did, especially when they joined my detective unit.

And it was only a month after the first one joined my unit that a massive case came up. Kidnappings, and ritual.killings of the victims. We immediately pointed at the Oktavials, but they denied it. Perhaps someone trying to become one for magic? The victims were all normal. No real leads showed up. Anyways, I got paired with some newbies for this case. Hopefully they aren't horribly inferior.


Guidelines.

1. No sexual activity. Fulfill your magic detective fetish somewhere else please.

2. Characters can be an Oktavial or a regular human. Either works. No real difference in appearance, or intelligence. Just magic and history.

3. This is just a detective rp with a magic aspect to it. The Oktavials abilities aren't confirmed, so feel free to add your own ideas! Nothing too crazy though.

4. It'll work like this hopefully, your characters + mine get called onto this case, and we try to solve it. Rather simple really.

5. Have fun, but just as importantly, let others have fun!

Lance reached into his trench-coat, pulling out a letter, he looked up at the building, a detective agency, he looked over the letter once more, detailing his assignment.

Lance Faulce,
After our most recent meeting I have tasked you to head out and investigate a recent strand of murders potentially involving a group known as "The Oktavial Cult." I won't be able to meet you in person for this case as I am needed elsewhere, I hope you understand. These cases have picked up a number of people to investigate, whom I think you should find, no need to tackle this alone when you know nothing about this place or these people.

"Well this looks like the office I was supposed to go to, I guess he's right. I'm a new detective investigating murders in an unfamiliar place, help is the first thing I need." He mumbled to himself, walking into the building. Lance wore a coffee brown trilby with a matching brown trench-coat, half covering his black pants. "Hello? Is anyone there?" He asked, looking around the room.

Liam's ears perked at the noise. "Yes! Yes, here!" Said Liam, from his office. "Come in, please. Are you the one they sent to assist me?" He asked sounding only somewhat sincerely curious.

Lance walked into the office, towards the voice, removing his hat as he entered the office. "Yes, I believe I am. Sorry, I'm new to this area, sent in from pretty far away to assist you." He spoke, sounding sincere, but lost at what was going on. Looking around the office Lance spoke again. "The name's Lance Faulce, I'm new to detective work, but I will be eager to help figure out what's been going on around here. I was hearing something about a string of murders earlier."

This new incident would bring him back to a time where he felt as though he was helping the cause. He was thinking of his policing days, of course. It made him excited. Shooting baddies, doing good cop-bad cop, and even putting people in handcuffs!

But in all seriousness, this Oktavial thing, it's pretty bad.

Vox strolled into the detective agency. For an interview, he wore something rather casual; jeans and a T-shirt that said 'Drop the Bass' with a picture of a seabass. He heard some people talking in another room, so he went to investigate. Soon Vox came into an office. He looked between the two men and gave a friendly wave.

"Hey there! I'm here for the detecting job of being a detective!" He said cheerfully. "Which one of you guys is Mackelmore? Or was it MacMill? Mac.... Something?"

"Finally. Both of you, make yourselves comfortable. As I was just talking about with Lance, the murders involving the Oktavials. Tell me what both of you know, so I don't repeat information during your briefing."

Lance nodded, looking the other stranger over,"Well, I know the murders occurred after the victims were kidnapped, and most fingers point to the occult group known as the Oktavials. I don't know that much concerning the Oktavials, as I'm not from around here so I was hoping you could fill me in on them."

"I've lived here for only a little while too," Vox began, tapping the place on his helmet where his chin would be. "But, uh, I know about as much as he does." He pointed to the stranger.

There was a short pause. Then Vox perked up. "Oh, oh, oh, wait! I think I remember something about them! I heard a rumor that they were telekinetics!"

Liam sighed. "Really sending their A-team here, aren't they? So, let me fill you in. A recent string of murders has placed all blame on a cult known as the Oktavials. They are known to publicly dabble in what they claim to be magic, and only months after emerging from whatever pit they came from, murders that can only be explained as magic have popped up. They all happen the same way. A single hole between the eyes, and their brains are fried. Like a laser or something. We tried looking around and they all denied it. Right now we're looking for any lead we can."

"Leads, huh?" Vox mused, pondering for a few moments. He had already gotten a general idea of what they looked like, so it shouldn't be that difficult. ....Right?

The policeman-detective DJ thought some more. Then he perked up, and pounded his fist on his palm. "I got it! Maybe we can catch one of them, and do a whole, 'take me to your leader' sort of deal!"

Wow, that sounded a lot cooler in my head, to be honest.

Vox really wanted to impress this guy--Lion McMackerel? No, that didn't sound right; well, McWhatever his name--Vox was going to impress him. But so far, he wasn't doing such a good job of not looking like a total idiot.

Lance looked over at Vox, inspecting him How dumb can he be? If the Oktavials had a leader, what makes you think they'll talk. Meaning we've got to get leads from someone else... or somewhere else... like the scene of the crime!He thought, turning back to Liam.

"Well as far as leads go, if you could take us to the scene of the murder maybe we can get some idea on what we are working with. We may not be the best, but if we could take a look, maybe we might find something that was overlooked."

He paused for a moment, tapping his side, where he had a pistol hidden beneath his trench-coat, before speaking again, "And as far as the Oktavials go, magic doesn't seem unlikely after some things I've seen. But who knows at this point, no leads and no good suspects, we better hope that this doesn't get worse, somehow."

Liam yawned and gulped down the rest of his coffee, which he had in a two liter jug. "Yknow, I'm sorta hoping I just overdose on caffeine sometime soon. I mixed my espresso with red bull yesterday." He said before yawning again. "Anyways, yes. Scene of the crime. Its pretty cleaned up. Our guys got to it right away. Its a rather public area, surprised me that their were no witnesses, or cameras. It's on the edge of a little river. I can take you guys there."

"Espresso and Red Bull? Pfff, weak. I put Monster with it too, really gets you going!" Vox remarked. Though he soon got back on topic.

"We can leave whenever! I'm ready, and I'm sure this guy is...." He paused, looking to the guy in the coat next to him. "Wait a sec. I never got your name new partner! I'm Vox, but you can just call me Vox!" He extended a hand to him. "Buuuuut, if we get real close, you can refer to me as Vox!"

Lance shook Vox's hand, with a small smile, "Well Vox, I'm Lance Faulce, but most call me just Lance or Sling. I'm not much for drinking coffee, but I always carry around a flask of cold cider, that keeps me awake."

He nodded, pulling out a small flask with a symbol of the moon and a clover on it, he took a quick sip before putting it back in his coat. "I'm ready to head out as long as our chief here can stay awake to show us the location."

"Don't worry about it. Ill come with you. I spent a week on the case files they sent me and have no clue. Maybe I can pick something up that isn't on them. Anyways, Liam MacMillan." Liam said, extending a hand. "Some call me Mac. Anyways, you have cars? I need a lift. Impaired driving. My license got revoked after a few too many tickets."

He gasped as Liam introduced himself. Immediately, he grasped his hand and shook it firmly. "Finally! I was wondering what your name was! I was thinking it was either McMackerel, or Maximillion, or some weird crap like that! Now I don't have to look like a complete idiot!"

Vox then paused as he let go of his hand. "....Damn it! I totally look like an idiot now!" He slapped the place on his helmet where his forehead was. Though he quickly recovered from this. "....But uh.... Cars! I love cars!" He nodded. "I could definitely drive. Definitely."

Lance nodded, watching Vox being so energetic was amusing to Lance, reminded him of his younger childhood. "I'm renting a car right now have it parked out front, of course I haven't had a chance to buy one on my own yet, but I normally just take my bicycle everywhere I can." he said, "I could drive us three as long as you are giving directions Liam."

Liam nodded. "Don't go thinking I'm an alcoholic, please. It was after my at the time girlfriend of three years left me. I got off it. I never got around to getting a new license since I usually work from here, and I live... Close enough." Liam said. "Anyways, Lance can drive us. We shouldn't attract too much attention, and since I doubt Vox's car isn't equipped with speakers that can kill a man at full volume, we should take the quieter choice."

Vox's demeanor instantly changed upon hearing who would get to drive. His shoulders drooped, and a picture of a sad face appeared on his helmet screen. "You gotta be kidding me! My speakers are always at a solid 150 decibels!" There was a pause, and he rubbed the back of his neck.

"....Which is about the same volume as a jet engine from 30 meters away." He sighed out. "Yeah, I see your point. I'll let Lancey drive."
