"I'm afraid of magic..." She quietly said before turning her head down.
"It's not magic... Well, not like a spell or anything. It just happens. I absorb all fear around me. All Anubites do, it's not on purpose, it just happens."
"That's not what I meant..." Lydrea stammered in her reply. "I meant it as an answer to your question... I... I'm afraid of magic..."
"Oh," he said, a bit embarrassed then thought for a moment, a small smile creeping onto his face, the first one either Lydrea or Zoey had seen. "Vur," he said and flame appeared in his hand. It began to grow larger as he approached Lydrea, "Aggvar skorpeoin Soldaat," he said again and in his other hand appeared a glowing green orb. He forced his hand towards the Sand and a giant scorpion with the torso of a man who had scorpion claws for arms crawled out, sand falling away from his body as if he were constructed of it, which he was. He started moving towards Lydrea too, standing loyally at Nomti's side.
Lydrea crawled back. "Wh-what's going on?"
"I'm scaring you," Nomti smirked and launched a jet of fire right next to her then summoned another scorpion man, "Your fear... Tastes good."
Lydrea looked around. As soon as she saw she had nowhere to go, she rolled up in a fetus-position and started crying. She closed her eyes and covered her ears in an uneffective effort to block out the magic.
A few seconds later it all ended and Lydrea would feel her fear begin to disappear as Nomti absorbed it. Once he felt energized again, he knelt down at her side and gently cradled her in his arms, "Thank you," he said and lightly pressed his nose against her forehead."
Lydrea didn't know what to do or say. Her fear was gone for a while, but then suddenly she was afraid again. Afraid of what he could do, of how he disabled her so easily. When he touched her again, she flinched. but as he cradled her, she felt sort of safe. It was a strange safety, but it felt good after her days of walking alone. he leaned into the anthro and let her tears flow freely.
He looked confused when she started to cry and his ears tilted back a little, "I didn't actually hurt you, did I?" he asked with a concerned tone.
Lydrea gently shook her head. "No..." she just said, never looking up at him.
