Hello!

I'm feeling super lonely right now, I need to get back in the habit of socialising a bit more. Any of ya'll care to share some words with me? we can talk about nearly anything, from video games, history, sci fi, you name it! I'm usually pretty open, so I'll try not to feel awkward when we chat.

the time or whatever.

We are in very different time zones but I am willing to drop in and babble at you when able.

Side note, I don't think TitH is going to make it. I had a potentially more varied character friendly rp idea for sci fi, though I'm not sure if poor old Jesse would fit in it. We could also discuss rp ideas here?

Otherwise I'm kinda dry on conversation topics for now.

Yeah. Long-term rps are hard to solidify, unfortunately. Its np though.

My memory fails me on the details but a few nights ago (when I posted last) I wanted to start a sci fi rp in a cityscape. Featuring Riagan, not because I don't like my other characters but more that most of them don't quite belong. And Shashi is somewhat a wip, so I don't feel I can lead an rp with him successfully just yet.

Mostly I'm just really into some post-cyberpunk vibes. Doesn't have to be a city, the only reason I mention it is because I want the situation to be easy to get involved in for a bunch of different kinds of characters. Usually that making a setting that's crowded and a reason for folks to be there.

I have a couple of other things to plan towards besides this, so presenting your own ideas, even if they're very different, helps.

Hmmm, yeah, I can see why you'd think Jesse wouldn't really fit in in such a setting. But then again, Jesse was born a little far away from 'civilised' space, so to see him in a city setting could bring up some interesting monologuing and 'culture' clashing.

In my setting, the Orion Confederacy is divided between the Inner Crescent (so called 'civilised space') and the Outer Crescent (pretty much the land west of the Mississippi but in space). The Confederacy could have different cultures of former Terran origin influencing the Inner Crescent Sectors. Hell, if this city you're thinking of including is of alien origin we could totally fit that in "my" (big quotations) setting. Otherwise, you could have a bit more freedom as to the makeup of the Confederacy if you wish by including your own cultures or legal systems?

When it comes to sci fi settings I don't have much pre-made material to call upon so I more or less make stuff up and refine it as I mull over the premise.

I don't have many ideas on the city's culture or overall political status, its more or less a blank page. I'm a fan of Mirror's edge kinda deals, where things look great but the government is extremely corrupt.

There's one place that I did create, other than Fraunus, called Malbr. But Malbr isn't a sprawling metropolis; its an independent, developing city-state located on an asteroid orbiting a gas giant. Its got a lot of potential to be culturally similar to the Outer Crescent Confederacy, though its flora are somewhat more akin to what you'd see in Tennessee. (Its not a big difference really.)

Tbh, I feel city-states would be an outdated form of polity due to how small they'd be when compared to space-fairing polities. I think the term 'Autonomous Sector' would make more sense, with the city being the seat of power and capital of said Sector. There is a government bureau that registers and records the identity of Sectors from either, Registered (Basically any Sector that owes suzerainty to the Confederate government) Autonomous (Sectors under their own localised government) and Unregistered (Sectors that are formed from localised power, but aren't registered as official political entities). Malbr could certainly be classified as either Unregistered or Autonomous depending on what you'd like. I'd say an Unregistered Sector could fit Malbr well since it'd be out of reach of the centralised government.

I agree; I suppose Malbr's Unregistered then! Now we just need to figure out wth's happening there. xD Or not. We could always come back to this later, too. Do you prefer rps with lots of folks, a few or just two? I know my bias is inclusive but nothing's set in stone at this point.

I don't really mind group RPs. In fact, I like them just as much as 1x1 RPs! I've played in a few group RPs with a lot of people before, but it usually dies quickly. I'd be more than happy to try bigger groups though!

I'm gonna bump this real quick just to remember the details of the premise. Also to say Happy Thanksgiving! How's it been since I last posted here?

Yoooo! Thanks a lot, man! We obviously don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Oz but thank you anyway! and it's been great! Been dealing with a little debacle with a friend, but I've been coming back much stronger!
