Actually, it's not always the fleshier the better. For me, the hum of the needle against the bone was better for me. It actually lulled me into a half sleep - the closer to my breast the more I felt it.

Of course, I'm the same person who falls asleep when getting the dental drill and falls asleep best in loud movies, so I might be the only one like that!
I'm also debating on getting a Aegishjalmur [which is my icon, for those that don't know!] on either my right shoulder, shoulderblade or hip, and possibly a mjolnir somewhere as well.

I've got a small one that is usually obscured by sleeves, unless I'm wearing a tank top. It's a dragon's eye peering out of my shoulder with the flesh being torn/peeled back away from it.

Originally, I didn't want it. I went to visit my brother across the country and he was a tattoo artist. Since we've only seen each other for a few weeks out of our entire lives, he wanted to draw on my shoulder as a way to remember him, should we never see each other again.
I was kind of forced into the idea, but I came to love it. The night before he drew it he asked me to think something up, and all I could think of was something coming out of my skin. The next day he presented me with the idea of a dragon peering out and I was amazed, since I hadn't told him about the concept I fancied.
I have several tattoos (all of them from my days in the military.)

-Large wolf and tribel on my right shoulder/back, going down to my right back hip area.
-Large Trible across my lower back.
-Then I have a TF tattoo on my left hip.

I don't think I have any photos with me here in the library.

I've got a black widow on one arm, and on my left leg I've got the words non qualis sum eram.

I've been wanting a Vegvísir somewhere. But I can't pick where.

Otherwise I have a big whole idea of a Neil Gaiman's Sandman as a back piece with his cloak breaking off into ravens...
I've got three tattoos at the moment, hoping to get more in the future.
My mom passed away late April of last year and I designed a Celtic cross in memory of her, due to her love with Celtic crosses, our living in Louisiana for the longest time (the Fleur De Lis were a cheesy 'cajun' touch to it) and I got it inked on the left side of my chest so the memory tattooed would always be close to my heart. I am really, really cheesy sometimes.

I also have a keyhole and both Aries and Pisces astrology symbols on either side (due to the fact that my birthday is on their cusp) on the back of my neck.
Along with the Keywork symbol from my favorite band Coheed and Cambria on the inside of my right arm near the bend of my elbow. c:
Here are the photos :D Cross when I first got it Keyhole and symbols Keywork
I need to get them all touched up badly.

I have two tattoos. I can show you one, but the other is on my hip, and I'm not quite willing to show it.

The one on my hip is a four-leaf clover. Traditional green. I'd always considered myself lucky. There are a lot of reasons for this tattoo, and it was my very first. It's quite small, maybe the size of a half dollar piece.

My second tattoo was (and will be) the largest tattoo I'll ever get. It covers a large expanse of my side. It goes from the top of my hip to touch partway along my ribcage. I can actually show this one! click.

My hands are a little shaky, so I had some problems getting a clear picture. The paint the brush is dipped in purple paint, but you see the color best in direct sunlight. :)

This is the result of the first inking, there haven't been any touch ups to it yet and I'm not sure it actually needs any at this point!
The story behind the tattoo.
For those who don't know/didn't read back, this tattoo contains the date my best friend died (the European date! XD), I designed it myself and his brother inked it on me, making it even more special. My friend was my first real-life artist friend and we spent nights drawing together. He was almost a twin brother to me, and I miss him daily.

Coming to you live from my laptop! Heh. I'll upload pics later so I can show em off but I have 4 ink jobs myself. And ironicly they are the same tattoos my character Kyle has. Upon my right shoulder, the kanji for Fire exists. Upon my left shoulder, lies the kanji for saggitarius, my zodiac sign. Right shoulder blade has what I refer to as an elemental cross. Tis a cross with the kanji for Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water around it and in the intersection of the cross is the Kanji for Death. And on my left forearm, I bear the, what i've come to refer to as a family crest of sorts for me and some of my friends who I am close enough with that they seem more like family than friends. Also refer to it as the "Bloodwalker Symbol" on occasion. It's a simple cross with twin intertwined diamonds.

I currently have plans for three others. One being the Gate of Truth from FMA. I'm gonna have it done where the gate is starting to open with the words "Welcome to Nightmare" around it. Another I crave and perhaps my most meorable one in the end will involve my daughters name and such. Not sure on a pattern yet. And the third will be a full sleeve of the original six joker cards for the band ICP. It will most likely find it's place on my right arm as to avoid conflict with the family crest ink upon my left. Welcome to nightmare will either be on my back, one of my pecs or my stomache and my daughters will find it's home in one of the same area. Most likely one of my pecs so it'll be close to my heart just as she is.

Thanks. Im so happy with it, even if it's itchy right now. *fringes and twitches to resist scratching* I know I'll be going back to him for all my work, he is a great artist.

As for colours.....not completely sure I know the small twinkles will be yellow near the center, and the large star with the lettering will be blue. Lol as for the rest I'm a bit unsure yet. I want them to be bright though.

Foxy I loved your green man, the tattoo looked good but your rendering was amazing.

I'm loving all the ink stories and pictures guys. :D
I have one on my calf. Left leg, left side. I got it in Canada during our recent port call there. It has nothing to do with the US Navy or Canada, as one might expect of a sailor on liberty in Canada.

It is a kiwi. The bird, not the fruit. I have my reasons.

Black and white. Took like three and a half hours to do. The guy had just recently started up again, and was a little slow. (apparently he got laid off from EA sports) The results were... I guess are fantastic.

To all concerned, it didn't really hurt. It was like someone pinching me. Repeatedly. With really long finger nails.

The worst was the last 30 minutes or so. By then, I'd had the outline, shading (multiple shades of black) and the skin was sensitive while he went over again with white for the highlights.
I have 7 tats done, 6 of them i designed myself my brother designed the 7th on. Right forearm is of a tribal scorpion for my best friend paco that passed away in 2005. Left forearm is a stone turquiose heart with leather wrapped around it. 5 wolf paw prints on my left calf stand for myself and my 4 kids. (I have pics of all my tats)
