In the kingdom of Bindercatch every 2 years a trial is held. This trial determines who is the strongest witch, wizard, mage, or Sage in the kingdom. But, you must be 16 years of age to compete. Alex, an 18 year old is entering for her second time. She's trained hard after her failure 2 years ago. And this year, they decided to change the trial a bit. Instead of just one Victor, it's a team of victors. And now Alex needs a team to compete with, will you join her?
Romance is a possibility, death may happen depending on the situation.
There are 6 people per team. The first 5 people you make eye contact with are your teammates. Your character doesn’t actually die during the trial, they just become a spectator until their team members can revive them. 2 days per round with 1 resting day between. Unlimited amount of rounds, unless there is only one team left.

When the 'priliminary' round starts everyone competing is released somewhere. And the first person you make eye contact with is your first teammate. Once you make eye contact with 5 people your team is complete. But, if you don't make eye contact with 5 people within the time given, the people you ended up with is your team. -6 people per team-
Since this takes place in a magical world you can imagine that the Trial is taking place in a place that is made from magic. Your character does not really die. They die in the Trial, but are alive. So once they die in the Trial they become a living spectator. It is possible to bring your teammates back into the Trial if you cast a certain spell, but said spell requires a lot of magical energy.
It is determined when the competitor quote on quote dies. So they lose all health. I guess you could say it's like a simulation, or like SAO but you don't actually die and you are fighting monsters and other teams.
Lastly, the rounds are 2 days long, and between every round there is 1 resting day, occasionally more if the trial has lasted a while. Therefore it will not end until one team is left

Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.

Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
