Hello. I’m very new to roleplaying websites. I am, however, experienced in writing. I have been roleplaying since middle school and have continued until now(which I’m 28, so math...yeah). I graduated with a bachelors in English/Lit and a minor in creative writing, so I’m familiar with most forms of writing: poetry, screenwriting, novels, and, of course, roleplaying.
Strangely enough, when I write, I tend to just go with the flow. I’ll use and OC to start an rp without a plot, setting, or idea. The reason I have always written in this way is because I love to build and shape characters with my partner. I don’t want to know what will happen, I just want it to happen naturally. I want the characters to take me to where they want to go.
I have also played DND some. I was able to really grasp the idea of battle and character development through roleplaying in person—surprisingly, it’s so much more difficult.
Lastly, I recently moved home from Japan. Living in Japan really fascinated me, and, as a result, I tend to enjoy Japanese/Asian characters and settings.

Yes, that is also why I love RP so much: you don't know what your partners character is up to and therefore, you're always in for a surprise. This site has a 'roll dice' option, too, that lets you give some choices over to fate. I used that in my first RP here and it was really fun!

I like to plot at least the setting out and the way the characters get to interact for the first time, just so me and my partner are on the same page, but from then on I just let them make their own bad life choices. I'm sure you're good in writing Asian characters after living in Japan for a while btw. I studied Japanology and Japanese society is just something special that you gotta have experienced in order to write a character coming from there well, I guess.

A friend of mine writes a half Japanese, half American character, but I didn't get them to join here just yet. I keep working on it though ^-^

Hey Aka_kitsune, welcome to RPR! I'm super jealous you had the opportunity to live abroad~ I love learning about different countries and cultures and the like and incorporating them into my characters is usually the next step!

travel abroad was a really huge step, but it was very difficult. I would definitely recommend visiting Japan if the opportunity ever arises. Message me sometime. Maybe we can roleplay a little. ^^

I totally RP in a similar way, it's so fun to see how characters bounce off each other. It's my most favorite thing about meeting people and their OCs.
