Dave ran and ran. He enjoyed this, the feeling he could fly when vaulting and climbing, or the feeling of the wind flowing through his black hair as he was in open spaces. It empowered him, encouraged him to keep running. He quickly vaulted over a middle-sized wall and landed with his feet firmly on another right behind it. he precision-stepped several walls and fallen blocks of concreten and worked his way up to the edge of what used to be the town's high school. He landed on a small slope, holding his hands firmly around a flagpole to keep himself from sliding down. He shifted his balance and pulled himself up the pole and onto the next ledge, from where he could jump to a balcony. He got on its railing and jumped upwards, grabbing the roof's edge and hauling himself up.

It was then that he saw what he did. Two armed men on the roof. One of them had seen him, and in his surprise, started aiming his pistol at him. The rifleman, standing closer to Dave and with his back towards him, hadn't seen him yet. Dave quickly ran over to him and tackled him, sending him flying over the roof's edge He quickly dove into cover behind a chimney and heard the first shot ricochet off the ground next to him. Dave thought quickly. The man was obviously aiming for his legs, which meant he didn't shoot to kill. Problem was, if he hit him in the legs it would be game over for Dave. He recollected his thoughts and calmed himself. He steadily took out his music player and plugged his headset in. He quickly selected a cd by Asking Alexandria, called Reckless and Relentless. He loved this album. He strapped the music player tightly to his belt and got ready as he heard the opening track blow into his ears. He started counting down.

He darted out the other way of the chimney, making a sidewards run as if he was going to go down the building again. In a reflex, the shooter shifted his aim for Dave's head. However, the runner had predicted this move and ducked down, setting his feet wide apart. He slid to a stop and heard the gun go off, the bullet flying harmlessly over his head. Now! he thought, and like an arrow from a crossbow, he ran towards the man. He jumped him frontally and they both went sprawling over the ground. Two more harmless shots went off as they struggled for control.
Then, it happened.

The pistol went off again, the bullet tearing a stinging wound across Dave's back. It wasn't a deep wound, but as the bullet scrapped through his side, the pain immediately set in. As a response, Dave's adrenaline soared up to great hights. He just held the man down with all the power he could muster, and reached back with his free hand, grabbing the knife he had taken from home. he stabbed the man several times, and by the time he realized he was dead, the ground and his clothes were soaked with blood, both his and his adversary's.

Releasing a deep sigh, he crawled back from him and leant against the chimney. It was then that the adrenaline dropped again, and the pain from his wound suddenly set in. He screamed out.
Tears were rolling uncontrollably over his face and down his neck, some falling into his lap. Tears both of pain and frustration. Dave had never killed before, and he never wanted to kill the man. but in the heat of the moment, it happened anyway. after sitting there for thirty minutes, he decided it was time to move. He bandaged up his wound as well as he could using ripped parts of the man's jacket, then took his pistol and all the ammunition he could find on him. He looked around and saw a fire escape ladder going down where he pushed the rifleman off the roof. He slowly stood up and walked towards it, taking good care he didn't lean to hard on his left side, where the bullet had hit him. He had to get back to the others.

He finally reached the bottom and collected the second man's rifle and ammunition. He strapped it all tightly to his back and started walking. It took him quite a while to reach the square where their safe spot was located. Right there, he slumped down onto the ground. His legs couldn't carry his weight any more and the bloodloss was making his eyesight blurry. Tears were still streaming down his face, but he emitted no sound at wall. His mouth was closed shut tightly. He just laid there in the dust, staring towards the town hall and the church hoping Casey, Jason, Minka or maybe one of the cats would take notice.

Casey was about to go inside the hide out until she noticed that Dave had been gone for awhile. "I'm going to find Dave, I'll be back soon." She said the Jason and Minka as she ran in the direction they came. She caught the smell of blood quickly and followed the scent. She hadn't noticed that niether Roya or Kyoya were following her, but she didn't care.

She soon came to a middle-sized wall, seeing somewhat of the bloody battle scene on the other side. She quickly jumped over the wall and saw Dave. She quickly came to his side, trying to figure out what had happened. She shook her head and decided that Dave could tell her later. She quickly found something that looked as a ripped T-shirt. "It is gonna have to do." She though as she began to rip it more into strips and wrapped it around Dave's wound.

She took one of his arms and put it on her shoulders to help him get up. "C'mon, Dave. You are not giving up on us yet." She said as she began to walk back to the town hall and church.

Dave saw a shade coming closer, then felt it bandaging his wounds better. It wasn't until Casey spoke that he recognized her. leaning onto her, he got up and allowed her to walk him in the right direction.

It wasn't too hard for Casey to carry/walk Dave back to the hide out. She saw that it wasn't too far away. "Hey! Jason! Minka! I need some help here!" She called out, hoping that the others heard her.

Minka's ear twitched when she heard something. She headed outside, and looked at them with a shocked expression. "What happened?"

Dave tried to speak but his mouth was to dry to properly reply.

Jason ran over to Dave and Casey "Let me guess, those unfriendly survivors tried to pick a fight with you?" He directed the question at Dave.

Dave barely managed to nod at Jason, after which he spit some blood into the dust. With a last bit of willpower, he walked into their safehouse, supported by the others When they got there, he slumped to the floor and against the wall, keeping his hands tightly against his wound. He was glad he could sit, but the bloodloss was taking its toll.

Jason remained outside curling his hands into fists he cursed angrily in the opposite sirection, wanting whoever did this to Dave to pay.

Casey simply sighed hearing Jason outside. Once he was done she went out and put both her hands on his shoulders. "Jason, I saw the scene of what had happened to Dave. As far as I can tell that there were two men and both were dead. We need to help Dave first before we don't have a chance to even keep him alive. C'mon inside." She said, realesing Jason's shoulders and walking inside the hideout.

Jason shook himself managing to calm down he silently followed Casey back inside the hideout and sat quietly on the floor.

By sitting down, Dave's vision had cleared a bit. He was still losing some blood, but less than before. His throat was still dry, however, so he couldn't speak yet.

Casey went over to Dave's side, she assumed that his unablity to speak was because he needed to drink something. She had a canten strapped around her, but it only had a little water left in it. She took it off and handed it to Dave. "Do you think you can drink some water?"

Dave nodded and took the canteen. He realized there wasn't much in it, so he only took one gulp and handed it back. "Much better, thanks." he said. His voice was still raw and sore, though, and he probably sounded like shit. But at least he could talk.

Casey shook her head. "No need to thank me, what are friends for?" She smiled at him, then her face became serious. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

Dave groaned for a moment as the pain in his wound stung him for a second. "A blanket might be nice," he said. He tried a smile, but it didn't do much to change his devastated face to a happy one. The trails his tears had left on his face were still visible, and new ones were forming as he thought back of what happened. He quickly wiped them away, hoping no-one had seen it.

Casey didn't need to see Dave's tears to know he was upset. She would ask him why later on, but for now she was helping him get better. She nodded and went outside of the hideout. She looked around and saw a small, slightly ripped light blue blanket. She dusted it off and sighed. "This will have to do." She came back into the hideout and laied the blanket on Dave.

"Thanks." He pulled the blanket all around him. He smiled at her. "I won't be able to be of much use for a while though." He was scared of that fact. Before all of this, he knew several people who'd leave him behind just because of that simple fact that he needed some time to recover.

"You don't need to worry about that, I'm sure there will come a time that all of us will need sometime to recover form something. Just rest up and let your wound healed." Casey wouldn't lie, she also had known people who would have left her for dead if she became useless. She wasn't that type of person, though. If someone was hurt or sick, then she would not hesatint to help them get better.

Dave nodded. He was obviously relieved to hear that.
