What are some topics you really like to RP, but are hardly popular anymore? Do they just have a bad reputation? Or is it something that's likely cliche or overdone? Let's here some guilty pleasures here.

I'll start: I like highschool roleplays.

For starters, I like to RP sci-fi, but keeping it logical. Magic ALWAYS has to have a reason and I also like to abuse numbers, so in a way, it helps, but I think I come off as slightly annoying when explaining my reasoning.

I have some guilty pleasures that I would love to roleplay, but haven't had too much luck with. I'm a big fan of the Villianous Crush and the Abduction is Love tropes.

As for ones I do indulge in, well I do have a few characters like vampire as well as kitsune that many would say are very over done.

I also have some guilty pleasures I would like to roleplay, but have probably largely been playing out in communities like these because they are old novel series, are stuff like Dragons of Pern or Sword of Truth, or other fantasy/sci fi epics.

The guilty pleasure/cliche I usually partake in is roleplays with violence and gore. I don't want senseless violence, but a plot with some good blood spatter mixed in always piques my interest.

Guilty pleasures of mine include the edgy demon tropes that all the 14 year olds on DeviantART have ahaah. I mean, I consider my demons to be a little more well made... but still lmao. I still feel the shame of having classic, edgy demon OCs sometimes.

I also very much enjoy RPs with heavy amounts of violence and abuse, which... well, I'm not sure it's so much looked down upon as much as I just personally feel a little shameful for liking to write that kind of thing.

I have an iron hard stomach and am absolutely shameless when it comes to loving writing smut and fluff. Give me those cuddles and naughties! I also love dark themes and nasty characters.

Blood (not really into full-on gore, though)....low fantasy...angst...smut...monsters...supernaturals...elves...and generally dark, dreary settings.

Basically Game of Thrones aesthetic + elves. LOL

I'm a sucker for the violence and crazy plots. Mind twisting stories, riddled with sex, drugs and all the wonderfully dark themes.

My guilty pleasure, though? I love settings within rps, where culturally it's just common for nudity. Adorned and styled though! Jewels and thin see through silks. Casual sex and exposure, like it's completely normal. There must always be a story going on though! Without it, the rest of it has no substance or attraction.

Sometimes I just really love a good cliché romance plot with smut. Nothing extraordinary or complex, just some simple wholesome relationships with overdone themes. While I also love topics that stand out and complex storylines, these romance stories are a good way to relax and just enjoy some happiness without a lot of drama.

Guilty pleasures? ...Smut. Lots of delightful, well-written smut between two horny characters with a ton of chemistry. Also romance between characters. Double points if they're starcrossed lovers that can never be together. Triple if they continue their relationship anyway despite knowing they can never completely have their happily ever after because they just can't afford or bear to leave each other. I don't care if starcrossed lovers are the most cliche trope to ever exist. Just, ugh, I want to RP more of it...!

Oh! And exposing characters with deep, dark (maybe even dangerous) secrets for the angst of it is also a dirty little pleasure I want to indulge in more often~ I just have a (not so) tiny thing for wanting lots of IC drama in a RP, if you can't tell. ;w; Even if ramped-up angst and secrets is overdone as fail, I love it. The suspense of a character's reactions and what they could be thinking is what really gets it for me.

I am sucker for anything that can make my heart beat fast, weather its a cliché school romance gone bad or a fighting scene or maybe something very painful and heartbreaking, so anything with a good thrill

Stupid slasher movie high school ridiculousness. I don't get a chance to rp it often but OH MY it's HILARIOUS and fun to throw random characters into this sort of situation, embrace every cliche and every trope and just laugh as everyone runs around screaming and dying. Also I find it quite interesting to youth a lot of my characters and imagine what they might have been like as teens heh.

Also, I rather enjoy screwing with my fellow players. Particularly in certain genres like said teenagers vs serial killer (I like the whole "surprise, your good friend was the murderer the whole time whoooo" thing, it cracks me up)

And I admit it, I actually really do have fun playing with very young, very new, or just not very "good" (relative term here) roleplayers. Not in a mean way, I just find the silliness really very entertaining and throwing my rather straight man style characters into this sort of candy coloured insanity is very very funny to me. They get so annoyed with the bright pink shapeshifting kittens and the clumsy girls who bleed in front of vampires all the time and I LOVE IT because I love making my own characters miserable. I mean I embrace it fully and MAN do my ocs get irritated and grumpy about it. Especially when clumsy girl starts coming onto them because they're "sooo pretty" (because the writer didn't read the character description or maybe finds horribly maimed people hot? who am I to judge? lol) and my characters kinda edge away and I cackle with glee.
Ahh. I love being horrible to my own characters.

Actually that's another not so guilty pleasure. I just really enjoy inflicting angst and misery upon my own creations. The more angst the better I say. Pile it on there! Secretly, i'm cackling like a loon when horrible nasty things are happening to my characters in an rp.

MxF only, anime-themed, erotica-based, mind-controlled-hypnosis in a psuedo Fight Club/Dollhouse scenario, with polarizing slice-of-life subplots, using dedicated characters that are strictly crafted for that purpose. Messy, raunchy, diabolical mayhem in both presentation and description really sparks my muse. While parts may sound complex to some, in execution, I prefer a sort of simplicity to the actual roleplay itself. It makes various aspects easier to engage with possibility rather than expectation, leaving certain aspects off the table while still being viable considerations.

It's so easy to lose the focus and intent, otherwise. And an experienced partner certainly helps.

But, then, I'm more of a reader these days, so that may be my true guilty pleasure.

There's no avoiding the confession that I'm a sucker for tender romance themes and traumatic pasts hidden behind benevolent attitudes. Gosh, I'm even guilty of opulence and wealth tropes time to time.

My biggest guilty pleasure is purple prose -- especially reading it from a partner. My own writing is arid and clipped; give me overwhelming descriptions of molten worlds I can plunge into and I will follow you to the end.

Crossovers. I freaking LOVE crossovers. I'm sad that I don't get to do them too often unfortunately.

I'm a sucker for "transformation" stories, especially ones where it's like "slave is bought by cruel master, who eventually warms up to her and becomes tender and kind because of her influence".
I blame my love of Beauty and the Beast

I recently got to play this! Not that I'll have my fill any time soon. It's still a classic for me.

Big bad dad type who finds a kid or a friend and has to figure out how to function without yelling or growling. Makes lots of mistakes.
