Altair chuckled softly. "For now, take the time to enjoy it. I'll be in the library. These aren't serious instructions, it's just something to get you all cleaned up and settled in." He patted her shoulder, then went down the stairs and to his library. He had no reason to be cruel to her, after all. And he treated his workers well.

Isis waited until he was gone before walking over to the wardrobe and opening it.

Inside the wardrobe were a few dresses, of varying sizes and styles. It wouldn't be too hard for her to find one that fit. It was a nice dress, nothing fancy, but nice-looking and practical.

Isis took out one of the dresses. She was a little small for her age.

The dress was a little big on her, but Altair would buy her something that actually fit her well later.

Isis went across the hall to the bathroom he had pointed out earlier.

The bathroom was a nice little bathroom, with a stained glass window that let in all sorts of colors of light, a nice claw-foot bathtub, and of course the other necessities of a bathroom. There was a towel and washing cloth sitting on the counter of the sink, waiting to be used. And a cupboard was cracked open to reveal soaps and things.

Isis quickly took a bath, dried off and put on the dress. She then walked downstairs and went to the kitchen.

In the kitchen was a cook! He was humming away and preparing a meal, as it would seem. He looked over at her. "Ah, you must be the new one that Master Altair got. Here, I've got something all ready for you. You'll find him in his library, but best you don't go in there with food." He gestured to a plate on the counter, a plate of nice, good food.

Isis smiled and bowed her head respectfully." Thank you." She picked up the plate and looked around." Is there somewhere I can sit?"

The chef gestured to a doorway. "The dining room is over there, you can sit at the table and eat." He smiled at her. "Enjoy." Then he just went about cooking again.

Isis nodded before going into the dining room and sitting at the table. She ate quickly znd took her plate back to the kitchen where she placed the plate in the sink." Thank you for the food." She said to the chef before heading to the library. She walked in and looked around.

The chef just nodded to her and continued his work. Altair was in the library, sitting near a fireplace. He was settled in a tall, plush chair, a book in his hands. For someone who couldn't read, he had a rather extensive library. But then she might notice his fingers moving along the pages, feeling the raised bumps upon them. He stopped, however, and smiled. "Hello, Isis. Enjoy your bath and meal?"

Isis smiled and bowed her head." Of coarse. Thank you for asking." She looked around. Her ears twitched, listening to the different sound of the house.

Altair shut the book and got to his feet, smiling. "Isis, I will now give you the rules of the house. If I am in my room, always knock and wait for me to respond before you enter. Do not leave the house with my permission, when I send you on errands I expect you to take care of them in a timely fashion, and when you clean, I want you to do it to the best of your ability. I will always receive guests into the sitting room, so when you open the door please escort them there and then come fetch me. If you get hungry, simply ask the cook or check the cupboards for something to eat. I expect you to listen when I give you an instruction, and always give me a response so I am sure that you have listened. You are free to use the library, or any other public room of the house, as long as you have taken care of your chores first. I'll make you a list of them, and you will find it on the table tomorrow. You can check the list as much as you need as you are starting here, so that you don't forget. Understand?" He would pause. "Any questions?"

"I understand and I have no questions." Isis bowed her head. She memorized each rule carefully and made sure she wouldn't forget them.

Altair smiled and nodded a little. "Alright. You are excused then, to explore as you like and relax for the time being. I'll get you started on any needed chores tomorrow. You'll help with a few things tonight but no need for much."

"Thank you." She bowed before heading to the shelves to look at the different books. She had an interest in different kinds of books, but hadn't been able to read much over the years.

Altair smiled as he 'watched' her go to the shelves. "You like to read, then?" Good. An educated person was a better person, in his belief.

Isis looked at him." Yes. My mom would read to me every night before I fell asleep. She's the reason I have my fascination for reading." Isis smiled to herself as the memories came back.
