The land of Valadia, a once prosperous land that houses three countries, all teeming with life and resources, yet all at the brink of a chaotic war. The three countries of Valadia are Aveara, Falaria, and Galentai. A long time ago these three countries fought bitterly over full control of Valadia for almost three generations. This war seemed to have no end in sight as the humans fought bitterly each and every day, training young men to become soldiers to fight this war for the men who started it.
One day the fighting hit a halt as the king of Falaria and his men discovered a sleeping race of dragons deep within the mountains of what is now present-day Aveara. The King of Falaria awoke the dragons, begging for aid in the war, offering them treasures and part of the land of Valadia. The dragons declined his offer, sending him away as they returned to Valadia, seeing the land in war, nothing like they had left it when they had fallen asleep. In their anger the dragons fought against all three sides, eventually leading to a treaty between the dragons and the three leaders. The treaty outlined borders for the three rulers and a neutral land for the dragons to live in peace. This treaty was signed almost ten generations ago and since then, the ruling leaders still share a bitter hate for one another.
Nestled deep within the Eastern mountains of Valadia lies a small village, just barely South of the borders of Aveara, yet just north of the border of Falaria. Unlike the rest of the land, these mountains seem like the last place that a border is disputed over, given the natural boundary that the mountains provide for the nations. However, these mountains are the neutral ground, that had been set aside for the dragons, but some humans have made peace with the dragons, building small settlements with the dragons. The humans and dragons that live there established a smaller nation, one that is separate from the rules and regulations of the other three. Not fully recognized as a nation yet, Falaria and Aveara both have eyes set on taking this land, and the lands beyond it as Galentai slowly builds its army in preparation for what they fear will be another war that will last through generations.
Kingdom descriptions -
Aveara - The largest of the three main nations, composed mostly of tundra forests and mountains. This cold land houses the richest mineral deposits, allowing it to have more and better weaponry for their soldiers. They are known to be cold-hearted and show no mercy, despite this Avearans are more welcoming to foreigners, but only if they are staying temporarily. The cold-hearted nature of the people of Aveara gives them some of the youngest soldiers to face combat, with some recruits being as young as 14.
Falaria - The smallest of the three main nations, being bordered to the North by Aveara, and to the West by Galentai. The land of Falaria is composed of mostly forests that surround a single plateau in the center of their land that houses many of the population and doubles as a citadel in times of warfare. The people of Falaria are cunning in strategy, usually trying to find alternatives to problems leading to them having the newest and most innovative weaponry. Falarians tend to have mixed opinions of foreigners, but usually are welcoming to foreigners coming into their lands, offering them food and shelter, but also keeping a close eye on them at the same time.
Galentai - The Western-most country, its borders encompass the entire western shoreline and several islands. While mostly desert, there are some rolling plains in Galentai, housing most of its populus within the plains, as the desert and shoreline are used mostly for military purposes. Arguably the most fortifiable country, Galentai's people are suborn to a fault, usually wanting things to remain the same and to not meddle in the affairs of others. The harsh deserts allows the armies of Galentai to train and be prepared for the harshest of terrains and the toughest of troops. Galentains aren't the most welcome to foreigners, tending to them telling foreigners to adapt to their ways of life or to leave as soon as possible.
Veskon - While not an official country, the dragons and humans in this neutral territory call the small land Veskon. The land of Veskon is composed of mostly mountainous landscapes with some settlements within the mountains. Within the mountains there is a single valley that teems with life and is supposedly where the dragons were first found in their slumber ages ago. The people of Veskon are usually open-minded and caring for one another, yet tend to show a cold-shoulder to foreigners, particularly those who are soldiers or warriors. The land has remained peaceful despite the tensions between the other nations.
Things to Know About the World of Valadia
Dragons- Dragons of Valadia are not the typical gold-hoarding dragon, rather they are intelligent and tend to avoid conflict as a whole, but have vast strength that is not to be tampered with. Dragons also have two forms, a human form and their dragon form. The Human form holds the dragon's strength back, but also conceals them from humans, allowing them to live among humans for various reasons. The Dragon form allows Dragons access to their entire strength, which ranges from being able to wipe out an entire platoon of soldiers, to being able to burn entire forests down in one night. When a Dragon is born it becomes linked to a gemstone of some variety, usually one that is either common in the area, or resembles the Dragon in some way (Matching eye/hair color, etc.). That gemstone allows the Dragon control over their strength and allows them to change between forms, the gem is linked with the Dragon until death, and is irreplaceable.
Magic - Magic in Valadia comes in a variety of forms, while most common with tomes, or spell-books, magic is also found in certain metals, allowing weapons to be crafted that directly channel the user's magic as they fight. Magic is a common thing, meaning there are a variety of types or schools of magic to pursue, the main schools of magic are Fire, Thunder, Wind, and Dark, although there do exist other types of magic, they are considered rare and unused by most.
Races - Other than Humans and Dragons, there are very few other races that naturally exist in Valadia. Pegasus as well as Wyverns also call the land of Valadia home, although naturally found wild both species have been tamed and are used as pets and mounts for a variety of purposes including transportation and warfare. Shapeshifters (Werewolves, or other) exist naturally, but they live in nomadic tribes throughout the countries, tending to stay out of conflicts, but have been seen fighting alongside some countries for promise of a more permanent residence. This area is not to discourage you from being another race, but you should know that your character will stand out as an oddity amidst everyone else if you do play as another race.

Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.

For everyone's sake I'm holding off on starting the RP until everyone has a character made and I get some free time, mid-terms are coming up for me and I might not be as active as I try to be.

Absolutely! And I'm pleased to welcome our final member (Unless everyone just really wants one more or someone replies before I officially close the forum)!
In this case I will be closing this forum some time tonight or tomorrow. Following that I will be creating an OOC forum and an IC forum (Later) which the links will be sent out on this forum once I have them set up. Stating once again I will be waiting for everyone to create or show what character you will be using for this RP before we get this RP fully started. Once the OOC forum goes up we can all begin discussing how characters will met-up, answering potential questions about the setting/world/other, and other various things.
I have just officially closed this forum off, and created the OOC forum for us to discuss various things. When you all have a minute or two just hop over to that forum and say hi so I can account for everyone here that received this reply.
