So, first I'd like to start off and say happy Halloween to all of those awesome people here. I'm sure those of you who live in countries where it's celebrated are spending the day being AWESOME and not lame like everyone in my school (I'm the only person I've seen in 45 minutes dress up D:!)

Anyone out there doing NaNoWriMo and starting tonight at midnight? I've got my coffee machine at home all prepped to make me some wonderful god like elixir, my laptop all ready and now I'm just waiting!

If you are staying up, we should all hang out together until everyone's respective time to keep each other awake!

I wanted to join NaNo a few weeks ago, but I fear I lost my inspiration. :( I'll focus on other creative goodness though!

*hands out candies*
I never officially did NaNo, but the writing bug bit me regardless in the excitement of it all last year. It helped me crank out some possible scenes from my Exodus continuity. <3 I'm not sure if I'll get that same bite this year, but regardless I'm looking forward to see how everyone who DOES participate officially does!

For the first time since 2003, I will not be participating in NaNoWriMo right now. I have so many other goals that I want to accomplish! So I am going to write ins and things because I love the community and the vibe and the energy, but instead I will be working on other projects. I doubt anyone will mind so long as I have my head down typing like everyone else. I will definitely be inviting people to use the art & creativity forums to do word wars again this year, of course, and I might even participate in them... Just not for a novel. :)

NaNo doesn't really appeal to me in any way. But good luck to those who do participate!

Also, happy Halloween! It's not celebrated here, but I usually buy candy and watch the Dracula and Frankenstein movies from the thirties to celebrate :D

Maybe we could do something fun in the NaNo spirit but instead of a whole novel, a 5,000 word short story or something within 3 days, rather than 50K in 30. ;)

I'm about to head off to university in my Viking costume. :P

As for NaNo, I haven't decided yet. It's been a really up and down last few weeks, so I haven't had half a second to devote to thinking about NaNo. I don't have any novel ideas other than the one I started LAST November... which is up to 90k words! (Woo!) I was thinking maybe I'll try to do a NaNo challenge of my own... something along the lines of "write 50k more of this story" or just "finish the $%(*ing draft!"

I'm sad not more people are participating, but I'm glad for the support of the community. I'm gunna need it, if I'm going to balance school, NaNo and RP!

Any advice on not going nuts?

Write a little bit whenever you can. That kept me going. I would write a hundred or two hundred words at a time (a couple paragraphs!) several times during the day--whenever I could sit down and muster a little. It adds up! And try not to skip days!

Get excited about what's happening next when you can't write. This also saved me. By brainstorming what was going to happen next and getting myself excited over it, I would be chomping at the bit to dive straight in when I could!

Write when you're not supposed to write, if you can. >) I wrote during class last year since it was the first time in college I had a little laptop to carry around. And it was AMAZING. I tend to even comprehend material better if I have something else to do with my hands... but that's just me... I also wrote during down-time at work.
*spazzes and throws candy and tea at everyone* Happy Halloween and NaNoWriMo Eve! I'm doing NaNoWriMo--this'll be my 7th year and looking forward to knocking it out of the ballpark with Samuel Clemens (you'll find him as one of my RP characters).

For those who are cheering us on, thanks! All the encouragement is helpful and who knows--maybe you'll find time to start this year or next. :)

Tip for staying sane: Don't try to write your novel in a week. I did that once. Never. Again. I could not separate fantasy from reality that whole week. >_> Also, stay fed, drink lots of fluids, and get SOME sleep. Sleeping for a few hours will help you focus, as will doing mundane activities that take you away from your laptop. I recommend shooting for 2k a day just to give you a buffer for those days when you hit a wall and your characters become mute/unresponsive.
Happy halloween!! I am all candified and ready for midnight writing!! :D

I am staying home for the next few days so I'm going to try to get some writing done but also hang out with my family. I honestly didn't think I was going to do NaNo this year, but I devised a strategy;
Instead of continuing my NaNo series I have done for the past two years, I am going to write a new story. That way, if I don't have time to finish it due to college classes, I won't be disappointed. There's no pressure for me, but it allows me to write and have fun still! :)

I'm hoping to at least get 30k in, but I have no clue since hurricane Sandy totally messed up our schedules! I'm definitely participating though! :) I THINK I'm going to do midnight writing, but whether I actually make it or not depends on my candy intake. XD

Waiting is killing me. I have two hours and thirteen minutes! I'm so impatient!
Ten minutes for me!! :D

I'm soooo jealous!
Just write more outline-age to prepare yourself and help get you through the last couple hours! :D

It's okay, I've completely TRASHED the novel I was going to do and changed my mind. I shouldn't have let myself think about it! Now I'm PANICKING because I'm not sure I can make a coherent plot with the idea I have!

I just... I have no more will to work with the novel I psyched myself up for. I think I needed to step back and think about what I was going to do.
Just go random!! WING IT :D
Quick question :) Whats NaNoWriMo? It sounds fun and intresting, i hear about it alot too. Im just not sure what it is exactly?

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It's been around for some number of years now and is getting more popular every year! :) Basically, the point is to write 50,000 words of a novel (and in theory finishing said novel) in the month of November. It evens out to about 1,667 words per day, every day. It's really intense!
