So... yeah... I'm gunna try my hand here at a group RP. It's an open-ended sandbox set in a futuristic fantasy world. There is no magic, but fantasy races and alien races are allowed.

Looking for: Characters aged 8-15. Old enough to have some ability to look out for themselves, young enough to still get up to childish antics.

I don't have a group size in mind. I'll see how many people bite first before deciding when to start. I'll probably allow late-comers, but probably not random drop-ins. I'm not sure whether to do this in the forums or in PMs, but I'll leave that decision until there's a few replies.

Ground Rules:

- Players aged 16+. I want the group to be comfortable for older players to take part.

- Paragraphs. 2+ Paragraphs average post length, 1 paragraph minimum. I won't say you can't make shorter posts, but they must be a rarity and only when you've fully ruled out the possibility of writing more.

- No sexual content, or eroticism. These are kids, for goodness sake. I will allow basic puppy-love romances and crushes, but nothing too adult.

- No god-modding, over-powered characters, or other things that could derail the RP, break the balance or otherwise ruin the experience for the majority of players.

- No OOC drama. I want the RP to be a friendly environment OOC, even if it might get dark and unforgiving IC.

My Character(s):

I'll be playing 2 characters for this RP.

My primary will be Deril. A self-centred, rowdy 9-year-old thief with four arms and a serious case of kleptomania.

I'll also be playing the gang leader. The role will be taken by my OC Kiro, a seemingly socially cold but actually warm hearted and caring kid who keeps the peace in the hideout in a firm-but-fair manner. He'll be a side character in the RP, usually keeping to himself unless needed to settle disputes.

Dropping in and out:

The RP will be centred around the gang's hideout. If at any time you need to take a break or feel you won't be able to keep up with the pace of the RP, you can easily drop out simply by having your character leave the hideout for whatever reason (e.g. going on a scavenging mission or even just going for a walk). Similarly, this also opens up the RP for new characters dropping in.

Characters joining the RP can either be existing gang members or roaming kids who happen to come across the hideout.

I'm interested but will need to make a new character; do you have background details I should be aware of?

I want this idea to be somewhat open, so there's not a huge amount of detail.

Main things are:

- Think post-apocalyptic, only not. Even though no apocalypse has happened, the beings living at ground-level in the city live pretty much by scavenging discarded junk. The area is lawless and due to various waste materials often being dumped down here in thoughtless manners, mutants etc are not unheard of.

- It's sci-fi. But tech down here is a lot more cobbled together. Finding a laser rifle is going to be like finding treasure - most arm themselves with makeshift clubs and modified industrial tools and pipes. Computers exist, but you're not going to find a working one. Most common firearms are makeshift crossbows, though some of the more organised gangs have out-dated firearms. There are no intact houses down here either, just shacks built out of discarded materials. There is clean water, however. A lot of the plumbing to the upper city can be leached off of just by making a hole in the right pipes and stealing some.

- Fantasy without the magic. As long as your character isn't something too outrageous, like a demi-god or a floating jellyfish or a 25ft tall ogre, you can pretty much be whatever you please. Elf, human, centaur, anthro... heck, as long as it's biologically viable, horror species could be allowed as well.

See, I'd love to join, but the problem is twofold.

One: I'm too old IC
Two: I can't justify de-aging Colin. There's no way a fifteen year old could have survived all the things he's had to do. He's taken years to simply recuperate from some of his injuries. Diluting that will dilute his character as a whole.

I'm interested in this idea, although I don't really have any children ocs, so I might end up making a new one. Do you have any characters involved already, and what sort of character are you looking for at the moment?

Nobody's really committed to the idea yet, unfortunately. I'm aiming to get 3 players (not counting myself) minimum before starting.

Character-wise, anyone who is roughly humanoid (roughly to the extent where things such as stereotypical aliens, centaurs, anthros and fantasy humanoids all fit within the range), in the correct age bracket, isn't overly Mary Sue-ish or overpowered and can function as a street kid would do.

I've considered raising the max character age limit up to 16 to see if that'll get more attention, but I don't want this to turn into a typical teenage drama sorta thing (there's quite enough of those kinds of RPs out there already).

That's doable. I was thinking more what age range you don't have already, but I think I might end up using a child somewhere in the middle because I get the feeling people will use either the youngest option or the oldest option. Around 11 years old was my idea. I'll hold off on making the oc until it's confirmed this is happening, though. I hope it works out.

I'm quite interested! I have this child character, Shual. He's fit for the science fiction genre. His race is custom though; one that I created. If that's not a problem, I'd love to join.

I would love to age down the human or vampire versions of this character for this.

Hey, I'm really interested in this! This sounds like it'd be a really fun roleplay, with many cute and dark moments galore. I was wondering if my little bat-kidder here would work? If not, I can maybe adjust him or make another character that fits better.

Sure, he'll work just fine.

Well I mean... I suppose that could work... so long as any magical elements (including supernatural) aren't present. Raziel can still have the appearance of a LoK vampire (love that series, btw) if you like, just minus any magic and scaled-down physical prowess so as not to be too overpowered compared to humans.

Main reason I'm putting an age limit out is because a lot of more mature RPers tend to get uncomfortable with younger partners. Whilst this RP is going to be PG-13, I feel the multi-paragraph nature and my own age (in 20s... I don't like to be exact, because that means admitting to being an adult ) fit better with a more mature playerbase. If this goes well, who knows, I might do more RPs like this in the future.

I'm considering dropping this one in the IC forum to make it easier for people to join in the future, given the nature of the setting, unless you guys would rather it be a group PM RP. Or if I get enough interest before deciding to start, I might try and set up a proper group forum.

Also, before we can start, everyone needs to consider whether: a) they're already a member of the gang or b) they're a newcomer looking to join.

Finally, I want to make it clear that 'Streets Rats' isn't actually the gang name (nobody's openly made that assumption yet, but I realised it'd be easy to do, so I wanted to make sure I clarify it). The gang doesn't really have a name, as the gang's main purpose is basically to provide a safe place for kids to hang out and rest in this dangerous world. In this world, Street Rat refers to anyone living on the ground level.

I'm really considering using his human form to be honest. As they never really expanded all that much about that era in his history, it's kinda free game in my opinion. But it was clearly states he had no magical powers what so ever as a human, so it could work for this.

Fair enough. That choice is entirely up to you.

Yeah I'll go with a young human Raziel. It'll be fun trying to imagine what he was like then. lol.
