Maybe it’s just me being too picky, but how does one find “good” roleplays? It seems every time I try to search for something it’s either a topic that is a month old with tons of replies already, or just those basic “looking for an RP I don’t propose any kind of plot but I’m looking for an RP!” kind of results. Don’t get me wrong, there’s many phenomenal ideas that pop up, but those are usually group RPs. I’m a busy person and don’t want to tie down a bunch of other people due to my own time restrictions (or get left behind).
Am I just being too persnickety? Or does anyone else have these issues?

i used to have those issues. nowadays, i usually just go snooping around forums and click on a few profiles to see if i can find anyone that catches my attention. i won't look at someone's characters until i've found that i like who they present themselves as and i like the vibe i'm getting from them. then it's a matter of seeing if our characters actually have a way to meet. most of the people i contact end up being really good at planning stuff and tossing ideas out at me, and i'm always open to just making a character on the fly, so.
sometimes when i go on the forums i won't even open the thread until i've gone through someone's profile. the story doesn't matter if the writer isn't going to mesh with my interests, if ya get my drift.

We are in the same situation
I've had much better luck in just messaging people privately. It can be a little scary to throw yourself out there like that, but everyone is here because they love to write and dream up stories, so generally they'll be just fine getting random RP requests, even if it turns out they may need to say no. Check out the ideas people have, check out their profiles, check out their characters, and then just say hello and see if they're open to trying out something new.
Yeah, I get your issue. I used to and still have it. I try being not too picky if I am snooping around, when I post for a plot, usually no replies or one. I just say, search for characters more rather than posts and post yourself. If you don't like anything you see right now, wait a little and a fun little rp will come a-knockin'.
Thank y’all for the advice. I guess it just comes down to messaging people directly, it seems. I should be able to do that in theory, being an adult now, but putting bravery into practice is so much harder. Guess there’s always time to learn new tricks.
