Wildner cursed, and readied both his sniper rifle and his assault rifle.
Die. Said a voice. No one heard it but Arrow. Arrow, of course, thought that everyone heard it. His body glowed, and he was about to unleash a charge when he was suddenly the cause of a very large dent in a Prius. An eerie black mist surrounded him. The boy was unconscious.
Something very wrong was going on here...
Amy would hear the voice next. Let me tell you a story... The voice, however, quickly translated into memories and thoughts. Whatever was the source of this voice was trying to delve deeper into Amy's memory, recalling hideous details that she didn't even remember that she remembered. The so-called "Story" was a retelling of Amy's escape from the lab. It was forcing her to relive it as if she was experiencing it firsthand. Right from the beginning.
Suddenly, Kenneth might find himself very much alone. Not so much in the physical sense- There were two people right there next to him. But nobody talked to him. Nobody except the voice.
The sniper thinks he sees... He thinks he can see all if he can get high enough with his fancy guns... The sniper believes he can help this poor group of individuals. He believes he can help... How cute. The sniper is useless. He does not belong here. Kill him.
Kenneth would see a figure standing in front of him. It was just a shadow. They were surrounded by nothing but blackness, for the moment. The figure had big, white, glowing eyes that seemed to bore into Kenneth's mind. The man would find that he could communicate freely with the being, but not move or speak. His thoughts alone spoke to the shadow.
(Sorry if you think this is powerplay. I'm just trying to be the storyteller. If you have any problems, do not hesitate to tell me, and I will gladly try to fix it.)

"Arrow!" She would yell, just before the voice invaded her head, filling her head with memories she'd subconsciously forgotten, memories best left forgotten in this moment, as they rendered her completely useless.
Amy fell to her knees, crying out, in what must have been a very odd display of emotion coming from her, had anyone been paying attention. they were not though, everyone was likely as caught up as she was. She clapped her hands over her ears, her body shook, and her skin paled, as she relived everything that had been done to her, everything that she'd gone through.
As this happened, she would cry out for Arrow, and a man named Rex.

"The sniper is also pretty sure that he can withstand the creature's psychological attacks." Wildner said. He had to fight hard not to give in to him, but he managed so far. Amy and Arrow seemed to have less luck, but he couldn't help them. He needed to clear his own mind first. He just stood straight, gritting his teeth.
Arrow groaned. He was having much of the same visions that Amy had. The Shadow simply didn't want him interfering with his plans by prematurely ending someone's life with a badly-aimed laser.
Leaving Amy to her visions for the moment, the creature focused more on Kenneth.
He thinks he is strong. That's funny. Strength is a trait this group does not possess. Two members have already been killed. One of them was weak enough to kill himself. Humans are anything but strong. Humans are weak, filthy creatures. They must be replaced.
Kenneth was holding up quite well. The presence in his mind seemed to try and grow more pushy, however. Invading, trying to pull out his deepest darkest memories.
Amy might see a memory she didn't remember: Arrow dying. He was killed by Hologram. Why? Because this creature loved to toy with emotions.

Amy was struggling, really struggling with the things she was recalling. She sobbed nearly uncontrollably, as she struggled with her own mind, her own fears, her oh-so-real personal nightmare.
That was until the cyborg showed her Arrow's death. It had judged her wrong, if it thought this would break her. No, the vision filled her with a powerful, and profound rage, as well as an awareness. She was being toyed with, in the same way she could do to others.
She would try to force the thing out of her mind, to struggle to her feet. She could play this game too, maybe even more effectively then the cyborg could. She went on the offensive, pushing herself into the cyborg's thoughts, as she desperately struggled to keep aware, to not fall back into her mind numbing panic.

This surprised the creature. All of its focus on Kenneth would be removed to fight Amy's thoughts back. It was losing, however. This creature of science was merely a brain. An automated intelligence system designed with personality. Soon it left them alone.
That still left the questions of where everyone was, and where Austin disappeared to.

Kenneth saw Amy get up from the corner of his eye. He seemed paralyzed, however. He closed his eyes and tried his best to move anyway. To his surprise, he did. Step by step, he got closer to Amy and grabbed her hand, holding it tightly. Both to support her, and encourage her to keep fighting.
"You... underestimate..... humans....." he said, through gritted teeth.

Amy was unaware of the man touching her, until the cyborg seemingly left. She jumped away from Kenneth, with a shriek. Being touch was not something she could handle on a good day, let alone then. He was lucky she didn't react with violence. She looked around wildly for Arrow, or Austin, mostly Arrow though.
Continue onward if you dare... More powerful foes await.
Arrow still remained in the side of the Prius across the street, unconscious.
The city was very eerie. The absolute quiet gave the impression that it could be haunted, or worse. The latter was true.
Arrow soon regained consciousness, and looked around. He shook his head, and tried to stand up, slowly. Whatever hit him hit him hard. The boy stumbled to the ground after standing up for a few seconds. Hearing Amy shriek, Arrow looked up again frantically. He only saw Amy jump away from Kenneth. The boy was too weak to do anything, however, so he tried to crawl over to her.
Still no signs of life anywhere else.

Wildner slumped to the ground, not even noticing Amy's heavy response. He had been resisting the shadow's intrusions from the start, and did so succesfully, but now he felt the fatigue set in. His eyes were blurry and his legs too weak to carry him, he couldn't get back up.
Amy upon seeing Arrow, ran towards him. Dropping to her knees beside him. She all at once, sobbed with relief that the vision had not been real, that he was very much alive, and visually surveyed him for injury.
"Where are you hurt?! Are you okay?!"
"Where are you hurt?! Are you okay?!"
All over. I'm fine, though. Arrow replied. How was it possible that it even hurt to think?
Arrow tried to stand up once more, and fell again. Whatever that thing was that had messed with his head had somehow weakened him to the point of not wanting to move. He was bordering on lethargy.
I think we need to move. We need to find where all of these people went. What happened to them?

Amy was feeling somewhat lethargic as well, though she had enough adrenaline to keep going. If he let her, she would help him up to his feet, cringing at the physical contact, but dealing with it, for the sake of getting to safety. It was then that she noticed Kenneth's condition.
She couldn't very well hold both of them up. "Neither of you can stand, let alone, get a move on." She would help Arrow over towards Kenneth. "Where did Austin go?" She asked fearfully, though she didn't expect either of them to have the answer.

Wildner panted. "I don't know."
The city was alive. That couldn't be confirmed, of course. But each member of the party could feel it. There was no doubt that someone was watching them as well.
After a few minutes of rest, the group would find that their strength had been restored. The mental attacks' physical effects wore off surprisingly fast. Soon, Arrow could stand up again. We need to find where Austin went, fast. Something feels off about this place...

Wildner got up again, as well. He was still fighting a headache, but was fine otherwise.
Amy got up as well when the men did, she felt uneasy where they were, and she was just as anxious as Arrow, to find Austin. They simply couldn't loose another team member, especially another of their leaders.
"Where should we begin to look for Austin" She asked out loud for Kenneth's benefit.

Wildner was almost scared to say what he thought, after their encounter with the shadow. "I think... deeper into the city..."
Deeper into the city was correct.
Arrow grimly nodded. He's probably right. I don't want to, but if anyone is still alive in here, we need to find them.
He looked around for a moment, surveying their surroundings. I think we need to stick close to each other. Getting someone else lost is not going to be good in this situation. Arrow knew he was having delusions of things that weren't there. But on these deserted city streets even he didn't see anything- Then he saw the girl.
She was a girl about Amy's age. Light brown hair. Arrow was sure no one else saw her, so he pointed her out to the group. Follow me.
The city was trying to lead him somewhere. Why? Sure enough, when he started to walk towards the girl, she ran away. To any on-lookers, it would appear as if Arrow was just running in a random direction in the hopes of finding someone.
