Impact grinned as they flew up in the air. They were falling again, and as he looked down to the ground he already knew he'd survive the blow. But... Would this little angel? "I don't think so." he said with a huge grin and wrapped her hands around her waist, enclosing it completely. She had nowhere to go as they plumetted back to the ground, Impact roaring happily. He hadn't had this much fun in days!
Insanity had noticed the woman who'd come from the sky, as if she was a bloody angel, but didn't pay her much mind to be honest. He was a little preoccupied at the moment, and knowingly or not, she'd distracted his victim, giving him prime opportunity to up the scale of his attack.
His mind distracted, it was easier for Insanity to weasel his way in. The image projected with time was meant to confuse poor Austin, to overwhelm him. The city would fade away, leaving Austin alone in a darkness. A flash of colour like movement would be seen from the corners of his eyes occasionally, but if he moved to see what it was, it was always just out of his line of sight. Austin may hear the voices of people he vaguely remembered, assuming of course that Insanity was successful in his endevours.
Of course nothing had really changed. Insanity was still picking himself up off the ground, and Austin remained standing where he'd always been, despite the fact that Insanity was attempting to trick him otherwise.

Poor Jane, she hadn't really thought about the other man grabbing onto her.
She braced for the worst, but when the impact came, it didn't hurt nearly as bad as she had thought. She was practically unscathed, in fact. This surprised her.
Very much. Jane kicked Impact away very forcefully, and if he let go, she would stand up and run away, jumping and flying into the air. Here she would hover and watch for a bit, gauging her opponent.

Insanity's attack very easily hit home. Austin glared, and turned with near-inhuman speed to see what the flash of color was. But he always just missed it. The whispering didn't help much either.
~~~~
Here, though, is where things began to get interesting. A man with dark brown hair and purple eyes appeared seemingly from nowhere. His eyes nearly glowed, and he was clearly angry. What about? No one knew. Well, not yet. The man ran up behind Impact and slammed his palm into the back of Impact's neck, right on the spine. The man wore strange gloves. Impact might feel a slight prickling in the back of his neck and in his spine as the strange man did this. It took all of two seconds to complete, and then the man did a backflip away.
"You sick bastards! Impersonating me? Attacking my friends? You agreed to leave them alone if I worked with you!"
There was apparently a lot more going on than met the eye. In fact, Rex had just been to visit SET's HQ, and had, er, taken care of the Hologram situation. Amy and Kenneth had been moved to a safe infirmary.
Arrow had been unfortunately killed by Hologram before Rex could do anything, however. Arrow being sluggish due to Austin's attack, and Rex showing up was just the incentive to weaken him. Arrow fought back, but was inevitably helpless as Hologram slit his throat.
Rex was very, very angry. Especially since he had promised Arrow and Amy that he'd protect them.
He ran at Insanity next. If Impact didn't do something already, Rex would jump at and tackle Insanity, and try to slam his fists repeatedly into his face.
"I'll kill you! I'll kill you all! Do you hear me, John? Huh? I will find you, and slit your slimy throat!"
John's voice came over the comm for Insanity and Impact.
Unfortunately, it appears that the lovely Experiments 17389 [Jane] and 14740 [Rex] have decided to join you. Do not, I repeat DO NOT kill 17389. She is to be kept alive and in tact at any cost. Do not allow 14740 to touch you under ANY circumstances. He is dangerous, and equipped with mind control technology. Impact, unfortunately, you have already been touched. Since we cannot allow our Agents to be leveraged against us, I'm afraid you will have to be terminated. Good-bye.
The Termination sequence happened seconds after the message ended.
Jane saw this as an opportunity to hit the ground again, and punch Impact in the face again. She figured since she somehow couldn't be hurt, then she had nothing to lose. She didn't quite understand it, but if she could survive an impact that hard, and still be ready to fight, she could do anything. When Impact fell, Jane was surprised. She wasn't that strong, was she?
Back at SET HQ, an Operative named Kenzie was watching over the Amy and Kenneth when they recovered. The poison wore off relatively quickly, and the pain and paralyzation released its grip shortly afterwards.
"Oh, you're awake, good! How are you feeling?"
Kenzie was blonde, with blue eyes. She stood a little shorter than the average human. It was obvious she wore makeup at one point, but with the recent attacks, and constant movement of troops, her makeup had slowly worn off. Her natural cheerfulness seemed tainted with the depression of so much death.
Amy and Kenneth had been unconscious during Rex's fight with Hologram, so they wouldn't remember his coming by.
Amy and Kenneth had been unconscious during Rex's fight with Hologram, so they wouldn't remember his coming by.
Kenneth was the first to wake. At first, he had no clue about where he was or what had happened. he rubbed his head as he sat up to lean on his free elbow. He then looked to the side and saw Amy lying there, still unconscious. Then, everything came back to him. Set, Austin's turning, his escape, and the sudden appearance of Hologram. He remembered himself and Amy being poisoned, but that was it. Evrything else was a black hole. He looked to the other side of his bed to see Kenzie standing there. He tried hard to recall seeing her before, but he couldn't, so he gave up on that relatively quickly.
"Where are we? What's going on?" he looked around the room. "Where's Arrow?"
"Where are we? What's going on?" he looked around the room. "Where's Arrow?"
Kenzie frowned.
"Who? I'm sorry, I don't know an Arrow. You were attacked, though. And some guy came in and saved you and then left. He seemed pretty angry. You're in the infirmary. Your wounds are pretty severe, I'd recommend not moving very much for another month or so. The nanobots are still trying to figure out what kind of poison you were attacked with, because it's trying hard to keep you from closing the wound at all."
~~~~
Austin began hearing much more than whispering. His own guilty conscience kicked in. He began seeing his dead comrades. They hated him for betraying them, abandoning them, not helping them in their desperate hour. He threw tendrils at them in his bestial rage, but he kept missing, and this only provoked more spiteful language from the dead.
He gripped his head and fell to his knees, making a noise that sounded like something between a roar of some alien monster and a cry of a depressed, suicidal human.
~~~~
And Jane witnessed the poor bloodman's pain. She actually felt pity for the bastard.
But this wasn't her fight anymore. The fast-moving muscle-man had just dropped dead out of nowhere.
Hopefully the dude with the gloves that looked like weapons of mass destruction and the psychic wouldn't notice her disappearance.
Hopefully.
Insanity had his hands full, between the tendrils being shot out by his target, the termination of Impact, and this woman, he was too distracted to notice Rex's attack, which was no doubt successful because of this. He went down, fists pummeling his face.
"What the--" He'd try to throw the man off of him.
~~~~~~~~
Amy came to, groggy and feeling well, a little worse for wear. She struggled through the fog in her brain for a few minutes before she was able to determine where she was.
She too tried to sit up. Arrow?! Austin? Kenneth? She was reaching out with her mind, her thoughts frantic, and then sad, as she remembered Austin had left them.

Kenneth immediately looked to his left when he heard Amy's thoughts in his mind.
"I'm right here, Amy. We're safe." he replied. He didn't know if his words were the truth, but for now, they'd have to do.

The two were many things, but they were far from safe. Protected, yes, but not safe.
Kenzie rushed over to Amy and tried to gently lean her back.
"Shh.. It's okay. You're okay. You're fine. Nobody's gonna hurt you." Kenzie could see the fear in Amy's face. As a matter of fact, Kenzie could feel Amy's sense of panic and then sadness.
Like Amy, Arrow, and Rex, Kenzie was also an experiment. A much smaller antennae than Amy's might be seen protruding from her spine, towards the skull. The computer chip, as opposed to being a square that repelled skin, was underneath her skin. Apparently it was a newer model.
Possibly Amy would feel her emotions shifting to calmer, more relaxed feelings. But then again, she was a telepath in her own right, so perhaps she would negate the emotions as well. And who knows how she would react to being touched.
~~~~
Rex was easily thrown. He was a physically and mentally enhanced super soldier, but strength in combat was not so focused as his counterparts. He rolled on his side and stood up quickly. Anger and adrenaline clouded his judgment. He quickly ran back at Insanity, but Austin shot out a tendril that hit Rex hard. The tendril was dull, but it knocked Rex far off course, slamming him into the wall of a gas station.
Amy felt herself growing calmer, but after a moment recognized it for what it was. She frowned, but didn't really fight it either. She'd take the sense of calm for a little bit, she had a feeling she'd need it for her next question.
"..Where's Arrow?" She let herself lay back down.
Insanity staggered to his feet, just his luck that Austin had taken care of his Rex problem for him. Were they going to fight it out amongst themselves? That would be handy. If only there were some way to make them believe that each other were him.
Oh wait.. there was. He could make them see what he wanted them to see. Insanity let out a gleeful chuckle, as he imposed his own image over each of them, and then tried to fade into the background as much as possible.
Austin's mind was easily twisted; His ability to logically process things was majorly diminished. The guy he just randomly slammed into a wall was suddenly another guy he hated? Great! He launched an attack, charging and moaning.
Rex's mind was not so easily manipulated. He saw what Insanity wanted him to see, sure, but he himself had played tricks of this nature. He needed to find the real Insanity so he could pummel the tar out of h- OOF! And there was Austin. Ouch.
~~~~
Kenzie tilted her head again, confused.
"Sorry, I don't know an Arrow. You and Kenneth here are the only ones the medics found when we arrived on scene. I'm afraid your friend might have been killed, or taken."
She looked around the room. It was obvious she was struggling to keep it together herself. She was much more sensitive than Amy or Arrow had been, and she had seen more than any person should have to see. Ironic, how the girl who could manipulate and sense emotions was struggling to keep her own in order.
"You... You fought those things, right? Those... Zombies? How do you deal with them? What happens if... If a close friend become one of those things?"
