He saw the man wave, but his strict training prevented him for returning the greeting, since he couldn't risk betraying his position. "Solid copy, gray leader."
The team quickly climbed the hill, and reached Kenneth's location. Austin recieved Amy's message, but still didn't quite trust the man, which was reasonable. They had just been betrayed by their leader's former colleague, and lost two teammates when they thought it was safe.
Once they were standing next to Kenneth, Austin took off his helmet and held out his hand to shake. "Austin." Said he, gratefully. He was willing to test this man with his face and first name, but he let Amy and Arrow keep their identities secret should they wish. Of course, this man no doubt knew their names anyway if he was from the future. "Are you aware of the situation?"

Amy stayed cautiously out of the way, and kept her helmet on. While the man wasn't likely to hurt them, it remained to be seen what his purpose was.
Ask him who High Command is..
Ask him who High Command is..
Wildner got up as they approached and took off the ghilly cap that covered his head and face. "Kenneth Wildner," he said, as he took his hand and shook it.
"So I take it you are unaware of the situation?" Austin noticed Kenneth had avoided the question. High command, whoever that was, must have at least known a little bit about the Cyborgs? Why would they send in a man with no idea what he was up against?
This knowledge might appease Amy for the moment. If not, then she could always dig into the man's memory. It was what she was trained to do, after all.

Wildner shook his head. "I'm very well aware of what's going on." He looked at Amy. He figured she was the one who had invaded his mind before. If she can do that, what else is there for her to do? after all, the SET squad were supposed to be professionals at what they did. "Before you ask, I do not know name nor face of the person who sent me here. I was contacted and briefed by a middle man, some guy named Jake Middleton. Ever heard of him?"
Amy was already listening to the man's thoughts as closely as she could, waiting for any hint of a lie, or dubious intent as it may have come up. She would leave his memory alone for the time being, until a point and time, when she had reason not to trust him. She found that sort of play awfully invasive, and preferred to avoid it, if she wasn't absolutely sure the person was doubtful enough to have their privacy invaded.
Austin nodded. "Good." Arrow walked a few steps away from the others, to try and get a better view of the city from here. He wanted to know if the Cyborgs were there, or they had already moved.
"Jake Middleton? No." A middle man named Middleton was hilarious. Austin held back a smile. "Did he say who he was working for, or at least why they wanted you to help us?"
Arrow leaned forward to look closer. He thought he saw something, but he couldn't be sure...

Amy was distracted momentarily, when her searching of this new mans mind, by Arrow wondering a few steps away, what was he doing? She looked over her shoulder at him.
Wildner shook his head. "He didn't. He did however mention that he was one of your employers, whoever they may be. I was sent, however, because they fear the cyborgs are starting to build an army out of machines." He checked his rifle while talking. "I'm afraid they were right." he concluded.
(Should we launch chat?)
Austin nodded. Okay, so this "middle man" was obviously misinformed, just like his employers.
"Machines? Try artificial life." Austin's tone was grim. "Their intent is to replace mankind as the dominant race. So far, at the pace they're going, they could succeed. Our objective was to eliminate the Cyborgs, but now it's much more than that. We need to eliminate John and his group of Experiments, as well as take out the Cyborgs and prevent their 'Superior Race' from spreading further." Austin put on his helmet once again.
Arrow backed up slowly. He saw exactly what he thought he saw. If that thing got any closer...

Amy was alarmed by Arrows slow retreat. What is it? She listened, where the cyborgs close? If so, shouldn't she have been able to hear them?
"Arrow see's something." First words out of her mouth since the newcomer had arrived.

(rather not, I'm gaming as well )
Wildner immediately dropped to one knee and aimed his rifle to start scanning the terrain to where Arrow was looking.

What Arrow saw was, in actuality, nothing. What he thought he saw was some sort of Infection monster the size of a skyscraper. Austin scanned with his helmet as well.
Arrow thought at Amy. It's a monster. Don't you see it? That should have been a warning.
Too late!
A hulking alien-like monster jumped down from the tree behind the group, holding a knife. It landed on Austin's back, the knife penetrating through the armor, coming out of his chest. Pretty big knife.
The thing roared, and was about to attack Arrow when it got a face full of laser. The knife remained embedded in armor and flesh. Hologram had decided to pay a visit, for those of you following along at home. No time to fight, though, because three other identical copies of the monster emerged from the tree as well. Even Kenneth's superior marksmanship wouldn't be able to discern a fake from the real one. Arrow grabbed Amy and flew off the edge of the hill, obviously more scared by the monsters than Austin and Kenneth. Or maybe he saw something that the others didn't, like before.

{did you just kill Austin? )
Amy turned to look just as the the knife went through Austin's armor. She screamed, and might have moved forward to help, and likely die doing so, had Arrow not grabbed her, pulling her off the hill, away from the two men left there.
"Arrow! We can't leave them! What if he's not dead?!" Frankly she was terrified, but she couldn't very well leave Austin, and the newcomer behind to die.

With no time to lose, Wildner aimed his rifle at the creature's head. Without even aiming, he just shot at him. He saw the monstruous head explode, and he dropped through his knees. The recoil of the unprepared shot however, stung Wildner hard. He ignored it. Adrenaline surged through his body as he ran towards Austin, picked him up and threw him over his shoulder - carefully avoiding piercing himself on the blade. He then ran after the others as fast as he could. "Keep moving!" he yelled.
(Not yet I didn't. )
More creatures howled at the gruesome fall of the clone. Austin groaned, barely retaining consciousness.
Arrow shook his head, not realizing that Kenneth had managed to pick up Austin and move down the hill. Are you crazy? They've been infected! We have to leave them.
He flew down the highway, clutching Amy tightly to him. In his mind, they were the only two survivors of SET left. Just like when they were in Toronto. And when they fought John's Experiments in Washington. Especially like Russia, but this time they were without Rex's guidance and leadership. Arrow was not going to let them get killed or hurt. And he was going to die before he let them get recaptured.
Up ahead, Amy might see what looked like crystal, or water, or something similar in appearance.

"I'm not leaving anyone behind!" Wildner was certain of his caude. He also carried a prototype cure, but it wasn't tested yet. It probably had just as much chance killing him as saving him.
Amy went with him, of course she did, he was literally making her, though, even if he hadn't been, perhaps she would have anyway. She simply stayed with him in silence as he ran. After a moment she would point ahead. what's that?
(BTW, my characters' thoughts are italicized. Speech is in quotation marks. Sorry if there's any confusion.)
Arrow would slow enough to see a girl in white. It was heavy cold weather gear. It appeared that a group of infected had been frozen near her location. She turned to look at the now-stopped Arrow and Amy. Her voice had a thick Russian accent as she spoke. "Oh, good. Help has arrived. There are more of them, coming from that city. It appears that whatever has infected these people is spreading fast. Most likely through a sewer or otherwise underground system. I've done my best to contain them, but there are a lot more."
Arrow flinched at the accent.
Meanwhile, probably a few miles back by now (Yes, Arrow moved that fast,) Austin regained consciousness, and screamed. It was weak, of course.
"Damnit! What happened?" He tried to get away from Kenneth, which, depending on Kenneth's strength, could be easy. Austin's whole body was covered in a heavy layer of combat armor, much like the spartans from the Halo games. (Couldn't find a better analogy. ><) Austin, if he escaped, would fall to the ground, and crawl as fast as he could away from Kenneth. "Who the hell are you? You're in league with them, aren't you?" He clearly missed Kenneth's headshot. The mental stability of the two remaining male members of SET's Cyborg Recovery Squad could start to be questioned.
