Matt

"I-uh..." I noticed she had gone silent. I had thought through all the possibilities of why she had gone quiet. Was it something I had said? Surely not. I felt as though the best course of action was to take a seat and give her a moment to sort it out. I took her hand and gently pulled her over to a nearby bench. "You ok? Do you want to talk?" I had already taken a seat.

Corrine suddenly looked up at Matt, she had forgetton where she was after she had become lost in her thoughts. “Oh, no I’m fine, I just started thinking about why my parents kept our family locked away.” She looked out at the festival and then turned to Matt again. “There’s supposed to be a dance soon.”

Matt

"...that's horrible." I said. I couldn't imagine how hard it must've been to grow up, unlike any other kid. I had it hard, sure, but it's the psychological stuff of not having outside interactions that made me worried. She had looked dazed and confused, and it must've been hard for her. I'm sure we'll both learn to cope with our troubled pasts someday in the future, but today was a day of fun and celebration. I gave her a hug and whispered: "I'm here for you if you need me."

"This dance will be fun. You'll get to see how crazy my dance moves are. I was the life of the party!" I said in a cheery tone, trying to get her mind off of things.

Corrine laughed, rolling her eyes at Matt, “I’m sure you were.” She leaned in and returned his hug, sighing in content. She rested her head against his chest, and whispered back a silent “Thank you.”

‘Walking over to a place nearby where the dance is and sit at a table seeing two people pretty close by says’ “hey you two im wondering if I could talk to the both of you” ‘says this to Corrine and Matt’

Matt

I had nodded ever so subtly at her thanks. It confirmed she was going through something. If she wants to talk, she will. I won't force anything. "No really, I was! I may not have been good at dancing, but I still rocked the house." I had a huge grin on my face.

Corrine laughed, and then heard somebody speaking to them. She turned and looked at the man who had approached them, smiling slightly. “How can we help?” She asked.

Oh I wasn’t expecting you guys to notice me since the two of you were busy talking to each other but that’s off of what I was going to say.....ok well I’m Asteroth how are you madam?

Corrine smiled and stuck out her hand for Asteroth to shake, “I’m Corrine Vierra, and I’m doing fine. Do you go to the academy?” She asked, as she looked him up and down. He looked young enough to be a student.

Matt

I looked at the man, Asteroth was such a peculiar name to have. I had a friendly smile on my face, but on the inside, something was off.

Im going to be there as a new student. “Shakes Corrine’s hand lightly and smiles a devilish grin revealing sharp teeth”

Corrine slightly raised an eyebrow after noticing Asteroths teeth. “You’re... a demon?” She asked hesitantly. She reached down and subtly grabbed Matt’s hand, knowing how he got around demons.

"Well, I'm going to go see who else is here"he waved and walked off, soon finding Corrine, Matt, and Aseroth"Hello kids!"

Yes but I’m the friendliest one you’ll ever meet and don’t worry I’m practically stuck in exile because of my father for being nice to everyone I meet but....they always reject my friendship and send me away so I’m sorry I just.... “ a tear roles down his cheek” I don’t know what to do in this world because either people are afraid of me or just hateful towards my kind and especially my brothers and father toward me. “As he finishes his sentence he begins to cry”

Corrine frowned as Asteroth began to cry, “Don’t cry, we aren’t scared of you. Demons just aren’t common around here, and now two show up to our school in one week, it’s just unlikely for this to happen.”
She heard another person approach and her eyes flicked to them. She realized it was another one of their professors, one she hadn’t met before.

"Hey kid, quit crying! Today is a day to be happy"

“Asteroth looks at the person who told him to stop crying and the tears slowly receded from his face and eyes” well isn’t that a bit harsh I thought people were supposed to be nice to people who are crying? “Well this day just seems a little out of the ordinary for me isn’t it? Asteroth says in his head”

"No, its not harsh"he licked his icecream cone and looked at Matt and Corrine"So, you guys are my students"

Corrine nodded, “Yes sir, but I can’t seem to remember what subject you teach?”

"Alchemy"he said"I've been out for the week, but im sure you will be with me soon"
